CHARGING YOUR CARD READER
Before you attach your card reader to your smartphone or tablet, you
need to fully charge your card reader. This should take approximately
1 hour.
To charge your card reader, plug one end of the USB cable into your
card reader and the other into:
A powered USB port on your computer; or
A standard USB charger (not supplied).
Once fully charged, your card reader should perform around
230 transactions.
Press and hold the yellow clear key on the card reader to see how
much charge is left. When fully charged, all 4 blue stars across the
top of the PIN pad will light up. When low on charge, only one star
will light up.
HOW TO GET YOUR ANZ FASTPAY APP SET UP
AND READY TO GO
Step 1:
When your card reader is fully charged, connect your card reader to
your smartphone or tablet by inserting the audio jack into the
headphone socket. You can also use the extension cord to connect
your card reader to your smartphone or tablet. This may make it
easier for you and your customer to use the card reader’s PIN pad.
If you have a cover on your smartphone or tablet, you may need
to remove it.
Make sure that the side with the ANZ logo is facing the same way
as your screen, and the PIN pad is sitting along the back of your
smartphone or tablet (see next page).

AND READY TO GO (CONTINUED)
The card reader should sit ush with your smartphone – it shouldn’t
hang over one side.
Depending on what smartphone you own, the card reader will either
sit at the top or bottom.
When you connect the card reader to your smartphone or tablet:
Avoid exposure to water and other liquids
Avoid lateral movement of the card reader as this can break the
headphone jack or the card reader.
We’ve provided a sticky grip that you can use to help your card
reader stay in place. Peel o the white side and use the adhesive to
stick the grip to your card reader. Then peel back the yellow side to
expose the rubber that helps to hold your card reader in place when
it’s connected to your smartphone or tablet.

Step 3:
You’ll then need your activation code, which
we sent to you in a text. The activation code
will have 12 alphanumeric characters, such as
vrvG95pT=9fb and it’s case sensitive.
Enter the activation code, and the app will
register your card reader.
If you’ve lost your activation code or haven’t
received it by text, call us on 0800 249 435
and we’ll reissue it.
Step 4:
Follow the instructions on your screen to
create a 4 digit PIN for your ANZ FastPay:
If you’re using iOS 8, you need to use your
smartphone PIN; don’t create a new PIN
forANZ FastPay
The PIN cannot contain three or more
consecutive repeats of the same digit
The PIN cannot contain three or more
consecutive numbers in an ascending or
descending sequence
The following ‘common’ PIN sequences
are not allowed: 2580, 0852, 1397 and 1793.
Then you’re ready to go. You can continue
through to the app, or view the quick tour.
HOW TO NAVIGATE AROUND
ANZ FASTPAY
The next few pages of this User Guide will take
you through the navigation and main screens
you’ll see in your ANZ FastPay app. But it’s also
worth spending a couple of minutes checking
out the Quick Tour on the app – useful for
showing you how to make sales, how to view
transactions, and how to conduct refunds.
HOW TO PROCESS A SALE
To process a sale (a payment) with ANZ
FastPay, both your customer and their card
must be present, just as they would with an
EFTPOS terminal.
1
Ensure you have wi, 3G or 4G coverage.
2 Connect your card reader to your smartphone or tablet, open the
ANZ FastPay app, and enter your 4 digit security PIN.
3
The rst screen you’ll see is the New Sale screen, to make it quick
and easy for you to process payments. Enter the payment amount.
4
You’ll also need to enter the payment description, such as
‘Sink repair – John Smith’.
5 Tap ‘next.
6 Insert or swipe your customer’s card.
If you’re swiping the card, the magnetic strip should face the
same way as your smartphone screen, and you can swipe the
card in either direction (left to right, or right to left).
If you’re inserting the card, the side with the chip must be
facing the same side as the card reader’s PIN pad.

HOW TO EMAIL A RECEIPT
After you have processed a payment successfully,
you’ll have the option of entering your customer’s
email address so that the app can email their
receipt to them. If required, you can also resend
the receipt from the list of transactions.
As the merchant, you will receive an email receipt
for each transaction you process. Check your
SPAMfolder if you don’t receive your receipt
inyour inbox.
PAYMENT NOTIFICATION
AND ERRORS
The ANZ FastPay app tells you when the
transaction has been authorised with a ‘Payment
Successful’ screen.
There may be occasions where you get an error
message to let you know that a transaction has
not been processed. The most common error
messages are:
Cancelled / Timed Out: This may occur if anything has interrupted
the transaction process, such as a phone call. If this happens you
should try taking the payment again. The ‘Cancelled / Timed Out
message will also show if your session has timed out.
Payment Declined: This message can result from any bank code
error, just like with an EFTPOS terminal. The description shown
under the ‘Payment Declined’ message will indicate what the issue
is. It may be that the customer does not have sucient funds to
complete the payment, or that they have entered the wrong PIN.
If you are processing a refund, you may see this message if the
customer has not presented you with the same card they used to
pay with in the rst instance.
HOW TO PROCESS A SALE (CONTINUED)
ANZ FastPay does not currently support Visa payWave or
MasterCard contactless transactions, so you must insert or
swipe your customer’s card.
7 Hand your smartphone to your customer and ask them to select
the account type (Cheque, Savings or Credit) by tapping the
relevant button on your smartphone screen.
If your customer’s card has a PIN (as with EFTPOS cards and most
credit and debit cards), ask your customer to enter their card PIN
into the PIN pad on the card reader and then press the green
enter key.
8 If your customer needs to
sign their signature to
authorise the payment (as
with some credit cards),
ask your customer to trace
their signature on your
smartphone or tablet’s
screen using their nger.
9
You’ll see a ‘Payment Successful
screen to show you the payment
has been authorised.
