1 Introduction
1.1 About this document
This document describes all possible versions of the emergency
backpack.
The functions, accessories and other parts described in this
document or shown in illustrations depend on the version
procured, and are not available in all cases.
Illustrations in these instructions for use are for general
understanding, and may differ from the actual version. No claims
can be brought on the basis of any deviations.
1.2 Explanation of warnings
Danger!
DANGER indicates a dangerous situation which will result in death
or serious injury if not prevented.
Warning!
WARNING indicates a dangerous situation which may result in
death or serious injury if not prevented.
Caution!
CAUTION indicates a dangerous situation which may result in
minor injury if not prevented.
Notice!
NOTICE designates risks which may possibly cause material or
environmental damage.
Designates useful tips relating to a particular sequence of actions.

2 Safety
The instructions for use are part of the emergency backpack. If the
instructions for use and the following safety information are not
followed in their entirety, therapy may fail or be put at risk. This
may cause the patient and the user serious or life-threatening
injury.
Follow instructions for use in their entirety.
Keep the instructions for use accessible and near the
emergency backpack at all times.
Use the emergency backpack only for the intended purpose.
Do not use the emergency backpack if it is contra-indicated.
Follow the instructions for use of the other parts.
Follow the instructions for use of the fitted devices and
associated accessories.
2.1 Intended purpose
RESCUE-PACK Plus offers extended transport and storage support
for LIFE-BASE, MEDUMAT, MEDUVENT, and MEDUCORE as well as
for other emergency medicine devices and other parts.
2.2 Safety information
2.2.1 Use approved medical devices and
recommended other parts
If third-party items are used, functional failures and restricted
fitness for use may result. Biocompatibility requirements may also
not be met. In such cases, please be aware that any claim under
warranty and liability will be voided if neither the other parts nor
the genuine replacement parts recommended in the instructions
for use are used.
Use only medical devices approved by and other parts
recommended by WEINMANN Emergency.
Use genuine replacement parts only.

2.2.2 Do not modify the design of the emergency
backpack and other parts
If the design of the emergency backpack or of the other parts is
modified, malfunctions may put the therapy at risk.
Do not modify the design of the emergency backpack and
other parts.
Modifications to the emergency backpack must only be carried
out by WEINMANN Emergency.
2.2.3 Subject the emergency backpack to hygienic
reprocessing
Poor hygiene poses the following risks:
An emergency backpack that has not been reprocessed
hygienically may infect the user or the patient.
Unsuitable cleaning agents and disinfectants may damage
the emergency backpack, cause malfunctions, and prevent
complete cleaning and disinfection.
Subject the emergency backpack and other parts to hygienic
reprocessing as per the cleaning and disinfection plan.
Wear suitable personal protective equipment, e.g., gloves,
during hygienic reprocessing.
Only use the specified cleaning agents and disinfectants.

1. Check all parts of the emergency backpack for damage.
2. Check charging interface and connection line for:

Bent terminal connections
3. If parts are damaged: Replace defective parts.
4.3 Checking emergency backpack
1. Check that the following parts are secured firmly.
Please note: The parts must be connected securely to the
emergency backpack.

2. Open zippers fully on both sides.
Please note: The zippers must not stick.
3. If the emergency backpack does not work perfectly: Replace
emergency backpack.
4.4 Checking charging interface
1. Power the portable unit via the charging interface (see 5.4.2,
p. 21).
Please note:
The LED for the external power supply on the fitted device
must illuminate.
The battery status display must illuminate or flash.
2. Check that the charging interface port is secured firmly.
Please note:
The charging interface port must not move.
The charging interface port must fit snugly against the
emergency backpack.
3. If the charging interface does not function perfectly: Have
WEINMANN Emergency repair or replace the charging
interface.
4.5 Checking lock on LIFE-BASE 1NG XS
1. Insert portable unit into holding bracket.
Please note:
The portable unit must sit firmly in the holding bracket.
The red control pin of the lock cross-bar must be flush with
the top edge of the lock housing (see 5.4.2, p. 21).
2. Hold with one hand through the handle.

Please note:
The lock cross-bar must be easy to push upward.
The portable unit must not stick when being removed.
4. If the lock does not function perfectly: Have
WEINMANN Emergency replace the lock.

1. Connect device to the power supply. To
do so, follow the instructions for use of
the particular device.
Risk of injury due to falling device!
If the device is not secured firmly in the
emergency backpack, the device may fall
out. This may injure the user or patient.
Secure device in the emergency
backpack using the retaining strap with
magnetic fastener.
