COMMISSIONING
The UTAX smart can be commissioned in two ways. The hardware LAN interfaces are pre-congured in such
a manner that it is possible with or without a DHCP server.
With DHCP-Server
1. Connect the UTAX smart hardware platform to the network via LAN2 or LAN3.
2. Connect the hardware to the power supply.
All three LEDs will illuminate for a few seconds at the beginning of the start process. All
three LEDs will briey illuminate once again after the start process has been completed.
3. Check the accessibility via a ping to the host name.
In the delivered condition, the host name is the serial number.
4. Once the ping test has been successfully completed, enter the host name into the browser.
The system is now ready for use. The log-in window is displayed.
Ping does not provide a response.
Name resolution has not taken place. Check on the DHCP server
whether an IP address was issued. Use this address instead of the
host name.
Log-in window is not displayed.
Check your web browser to see whether a proxy server has been
entered. Temporarily deactivate this server or dene a respective
exception.

MONITORING PROFILES
UTAX smart provides the opportunity to le proles for the monitoring of systems in order to regularly check
their current status. Consequently, system stoppages are avoided as preventative measures are requested prior
to the occurrence of a stoppage.
As a result, all processes can be accelerated, implemented in a signicantly more ecient manner and be
automated.
Entries that dene which system statuses within a prole are to be monitored are assigned to each monitoring
prole. Each entry denes which system unit is monitored and which event triggers an action. Furthermore, it is
dened what this action specically contains.
For instance, the toner ll levels as well as the status of the developer units, drums and the fuser, transfer or
cleaning units can be monitored. It is also possible to monitor threshold values for the loading of the device with
paper or other consumable material. Furthermore, permanently dened system statuses can be monitored or
display notications can be read.
The monitoring results that trigger an action are dened for each status monitoring. For instance, concrete
threshold values can be provided for ll levels (e.g. Trigger if toner content falls below 10 %.
For system notications, the presence of the notication is deemed to be the trigger. Desired texts can be dened
when monitoring display notications.
An action is triggered if a pre-dened status is achieved. Examples of actions include the placing of an automatic
order or automatic notications to the responsible contact person.

You can dene an action that should be triggered for the created prole. An action can be performed
once a dened status has been reached (e.g. an action should be performed if the toner content is below
10 %). In addition, a further action can be triggered if the status is outside of the specied range again
(e.g. when the toner was replaced).
Further information about this can be found in the online help.

Creating entries
Click on the Entries tab.
The tab header indicates which prole is currently active. In the event that several proles have already been
created, the entries for a dierent prole can be congured via Switch Prole.
Click on Add Prole Entry in order to create an entry.
Congure which unit shall be monitored, when it is triggered and which action should be performed.
It is possible to monitor a system unit several times. For instance, with this function, it is possible to
trigger an order if the black toner is below 15 % and to also internally notify a further person if the black
toner is below 10 %.
Further information about this can be found in the online help.
Assigning a monitoring prole
After the monitoring prole has been created, the systems that are to be monitored still need to be allocated. In
order to do so, click on Systems and then on System Overview. Select the check boxes for the systems that you
wish to assign the monitoring prole to. If you wish to assign the monitoring prole to all systems, you can use the
