PowerManagerhelpsusersadjustpowersettingstogivethebestbalancebetweensystemperformance
andpowersavingthroughslidercontrolorpowerplans.
PowerManagerprovidesavarietyofpowersavingfeaturesthroughtwoessentialmodes,Basicand
Advanced.BasicmodeissetasdefaultwhenusersopenPowerManagerforthersttime.Userscan
specifythelevelofpowersavingbysimplyusingtheslider,withoutpowerplans.Advancedmodeenables
userstocongurepowerplansandthefullrangeoffunctionsinPowerManagertomeetspecicpower
savingneeds.PowerManagerenablesuserstoschedulepoweractionsbycreatingpoweragendasto
meetthespecicneeds.
Powermanagementonacomputercansaveenergyandmoney.WhentheITadministratorenforces

Features
PowerManagerincludesthefollowingfunctions:
Balancetheperformanceandpowersavingofthecomputer
PowerManagerprovidestheslidertohelpusersquicklyandeasilysetthelevelofpowertobeused.
UserscancontroltheCentralProcessingUnit(CPU)speedandthebrightnessofthecomputerdisplay
bymovingtheslider.Movingtheslidertotheleft,towardHighperformance,increasestheCPU
speedandthebrightnessofthecomputerdisplaybutusesmoreenergy.Movingtheslidertotheright,
towardHighenergysavings,savestheenergywhilelimitingtheCPUspeedandthebrightnessof
thecomputerdisplay.
Whenusersmovetheslidertotheleftmostposition,thepowersavingsettingsintheMaximum
Performancepowerplanareapplied.Whenusersmovetheslidertotherightmostposition,thepower
savingsettingsintheMaximumEnergySavingpowerplanareapplied.
View,create,delete,andswitchpowerplans
Apowerplanisacollectionofhardwareandsystemsettingsthatmanageshowthecomputerisusedand
conservespower.PowerManagerpowerplansprovidemanymorepowersavingfeaturesthanWindows
®
powerplans.OnthePowerPlantab,theusercanviewspecicsettingsinanyofthepredenedpower
plans:PowerSourceOptimized,Timersoff(Presentation),MaximumPerformance,VideoPlayback,
MaximumEnergySaving,andThinkCentreDefault.Thesepredenedpowerplansaredesignedtomeet
theneedsofmostpeople.Ifapredenedpowerplandoesnotmeetsomeusers'needs,thePower
Managerwizardhelpstheseuserscreatetheirowncustompowerplans.Userscandeletecustompower
plansbutcannotdeletepredenedpowerplans.Userscaneasilyswitchtoanotherpowerplanby
clickingthePowerManagericoninthenoticationareaandthenselectingfromthepowerplanlist.
RemotelycongurePowerManageranddeploypowerplan
PowerManagerenablesanITadministratortocongurePowerManageranddeployapowerplanby
ActiveDirectory.TheITadministratorcanselectanactivepowerplanforclientcomputers,andinhibit
theusers'abilitytoswitchamongpowerplans,selectaspecicpowerplan,orcreateapowerplan.For

remotelyandtheusersofclientcomputerscanhavethosepoweragendasworkautomaticallywithout
