These short operating instructions contain information on setting up, commissioning and demonstrating the “BGHW1
Machine Safety” training case. For detailed information regarding the installed components, please refer to the

Intended use
The contents of the training case are primarily intended for instructing machine builders, safety specialists, students
and schoolchildren on the topic of “machine safety”.
It is used under the guidance of trained personnel.
Contents
The training case contains equipment to demonstrate the function of protective devices for machine safety. Contents:
Safety laser scanner and safety light curtain opto-electronic protective devices for hazardous point, hazardous
area and access protection
Non-contact safety switches with transponder and magnet technology for interlocking physical guards
Electro-mechanical safety locking device for holding physical guards shut
Movable physical guards (protective door)
Rope pull switch, emergency stop pushbutton for emergency stop safety command
Enabling switch for the enable safety command
Operating mode selector switch for selecting manual, automated or setup mode
Safety controller for linking and evaluating the input signals
of the safety functions
Controls and status indicators for start, stop, reset, unlock, inching
Indicator for simulating machine movements (fast and slow)
Equipment
Take the equipment out of the training case and set it up as shown in Figure 1.
Use the supplied voltage supply unit to establish the voltage supply via the female connector .
Only use the supplied voltage supply unit for voltage supply!
Commissioning
To demonstrate the functions of the “BGHW1 Machine Safety” training case, switch the on/off switch to the On
position.
Reset all protective devices in the start-up position:
Emergency stop pushbutton unlocked (rotate the red button to the left or right)
Rope pull switch unlocked by means of the reset lever
MSO key switch in position 1
Protective door closed
Protective field of the safety laser scanner clear (indicator lights up green)
Protective field of the safety light curtain clear (OSSD indicator lights up green), Figure 2
The RESET and UNLOCK buttons are flashing.
After pressing the RESET button and the green flashing START button , the machine starts up. The indicator
lights up red and rotates. The machine is now in RUN mode. The RUN indicator lights up green.
