PRODUCTS AFFECTED
STC SA02573SE authorizes the installation of the following on Mooney M20( ) Series aircraft listed on the
TCDS 2A3:
GDL 82
GDL 82 with GPS/WAAS
PURPOSE
The GDL 82 is a remote mounted UAT transmitter designed to be installed in-line between an existing
Mode A/C transponder and its L-Band antenna. The GDL 82 is an ADS-B Out solution that meets 14
CFR §91.225 and §91.227 regulations. The GDL 82 automatically synchronizes with the transponder to
obtain the transponder squawk code, IDENT status (i.e., SPI status) and pressure altitude data. With the
direct in-line connection the transmitted interrogation can only be received by the interfacing ownship
transponder.
The GDL 82 receives ADS-B GPS data from the approved sources below:
Internal GPS/WAAS Receiver
GTN 6XX/7XX series navigators with software version 6.41 (or later) via RS-232 Interface
GNS 4XXW/5XXW series navigators with software version 5.30 (or later) via RS-232 Interface
GNS 480 navigator with software version 2.4 (or later) via RS-232 Interface

DESCRIPTION
This STC Service Bulletin provides notification of initial issuance of STC SA02573SE, with GDL 82
Mooney M20( ) Series STC Master Drawing List, 005-01008-A1, Revision 1. This STC approves the initial
airworthiness of the GDL 82 UAT (978 MHz) Datalink Transmitter and installation in Mooney M20( ) series
aircraft listed on TCDS 2A3.
NOTE
The GDL 82 can be installed in other aircraft not covered by this STC without the need for
additional FAA approved data, provided the installation is conducted in accordance with
FAA Policy Memorandum, Installation Approval for ADS-B OUT Systems, dated March 2,
2016. For specific installation and approval procedures in aircraft not covered under this

APPROVAL
The modifications described in this service bulletin are FAA-approved for installation in accordance with
STC SA02573SE, GDL 82 Mooney M20() Series STC Master Drawing List, 005-01008-A1, Revision 1 or
later FAA-approved revision. Refer to the REFERENCES section to determine all currently approved
installations and software versions for this STC.
NOTE
This STC does not provide the data, and neither is it the basis of the airworthiness approval
for antenna installation. Installation of the GPS/WAAS or L-Band antennas, as part of GDL
82 system, requires a separate airworthiness approval.
DOCUMENTATION CONSIDERATIONS
Upon completion of this alteration the following documents are required to be issued to the aircraft
operator/owner before the aircraft is returned to service.
