About the Image Studio Connection Diagnostics Utility Program
LI-COR offers a diagnostic utility program (Image Studio Connection Diagnostics Utility) that scans your
computer and network resources, and then reports any deficiencies that might prevent proper connection
to the LI-COR Odyssey® CLx, Odyssey® Fc, C-DiGit® Blot Scanner, or Pearl® Impulse.
The Image Studio Connection Diagnostics Utility contains help for each of the diagnostic tasks performed, with
information about how to solve the problem.
Where to Get the Connection Diagnostics Utility Program, and How to Install
Go to www.licor.com/bio/products/software/image_studio/support.jsp to download a free copy of the Image
Studio Connection Diagnostics Utility program. The Utility program can be run on Windows® XP/Vista/7.
NOTE: You must be logged in to Windows® using an Administrator account to install the program. If necessary, log
out and back in using an Administrator account.
Save the program file to your computer, and double-click on the downloaded file (ConnectDiagnosticsInstaller-
1.0.xx.exe) to run the installer. You’ll see the following introductory screen:
Instrument Connection Problems?
Using the Image Studio Connection Diagnostics Utility Program with the Odyssey® CLx,
Odyssey® Fc, C-DiGit® Blot Scanner, or Pearl® Impulse
Click Next, and follow the instructions to install the Connection Diagnostics Utility program.
Running the Utility Program
Double-click on the program icon to start the Connection Diagnostics Utility program.
Click Continue on the opening screen. The Connection Diagnostics program window opens. Choose
your instrument from the ‘Instrument Type’ pull-down menu.
Additional Scan Results
An ImageStudioConnectionDiagnostics.log file is
created on the computer desktop each time the
Utility is opened. This is simply a text file contain-
ing the complete results of the diagnostic scan.
Note that each time the Utility is opened, earlier
log file names are appended with an integer; thus,
the most current log file is always named
ImageStudioConnectionDiagnostics.log, and the
next most recent file is named
ImageStudioConnectionDiagnostics_1.log, etc.
Click Start to run the diagnostic scan. The scan may take
several minutes, depending on the instrument type and
network resources. When finished, the main window
displays the results of the diagnostic scan, as shown
below. Note that warnings are displayed at ‘Basic System
Information’ and ‘Installed Drivers’ in the example below.
Click on any of the Diagnostic Tasks headings to display
more information about that test, and how to solve the
problem.
What Now?
If the help available in the Connection Diagnostics program shown above does not solve your connection issue(s),
the log file can be provided to your own IT department for troubleshooting purposes. The log file helps to identify
issues, and provides information on possible solutions. If you contact LI-COR Technical Support, they may ask
that you send this log file to help determine the connection problem. If you don’t have access to IT support, or
still can’t connect, you can find more information at www.licor.com/bio/support/support.jsp, or by calling 1-800-
645-4260.
