Notes on operating instructions
Please read this information carefully and follow all the instructions outlined below. This
will ensure the reliable operation and long service life of your unit.
Keep the packaging and operating instructions in a safe place in order to pass them on to a
subsequent owner in the event of selling the unit at a later date.
The following reading aids are used to simplify these operating instructions:

Safety instructions
A
For safety reasons, the driver should not watch TV/DVD or similar when driving.
Please note that it is illegal in certain countries to watch or to operate a TV/DVD or similar
device when driving.

Only use the mirror for its intended purpose.
A
The mirror must not be covered by any objects.
A If an electronic reverse monitoring camera is used, ensure that this does not cause a hazard.
Any damaged caused through the use of such systems are the sole responsibility of the driver.

It is recommended that the unit be used in conjunction with two side mirrors.
A
Do not clean using cleaning fluid, alcohol or other solvents. Use only a damp cloth.

Operation
Switching on / off
The MM 2100 switches itself on and off automatically together with the navigation system
(ignition/ACC).

The green LED 2 indicates operational readiness.
After switching off the ignition (ACC) the green LED remains illuminated until the naviga-
tion computer has completely shut down.
Switching off at the mirror
The MM 2100 can be switched off via the on/off button 4 on the mirror while the ignition
(ACC) is switched on.
In order to display the navigation image, switch the MM 2100 on again via the on/off but
-
ton.
Volume setting
Turn the volume control 3 during a guidance information message in order to set the
desired volume of the built-in loudspeaker.
Ensure that the navigation system volume is set to a medium level (see navigation system
operating instructions).
Brightness setting
Turn the brightness control 1 in order to set the desired monitor brightness.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Only trained specialists may install the unit.
A
Observe automotive industry quality standards and the relevant local statutory regulations.
It is essential to observe the following when installing components in the passenger com
-
partment:
A
Ensure that the driver has a clear all-round view.
A
Increased risk of injury in the event of an accident. Do not install components in the inflation
range of the airbag or in areas where the head may knock against them.
A
Only install in vehicles with 12V on-board voltage and negative earth. Risk of malfunction, da
-
mage and vehicle fire if installed in unsuitable vehicles (e. g. heavy goods vehicles, buses).
A
In order to ensure perfect installation, use only the original components supplied. The use of
non-authorised components may result in malfunction.
Scope of delivery
Check the scope of delivery for completeness before starting work. The complete installation
kit contains:
1 MM 2100 with 7 m connecting cable
3 Sets of fastening elements
1 Installation and operating instructions
Report faulty components to the Service department and notify any damage to the deliverer
(forwarder, package service, post office).
Technical data, design and scope of delivery may vary slightly due to product updating.
Installation
Mounting, Figs. 1 - 3
1. Feed the two long mounting bands with
the finely ribbed side facing inwards into
the slots provided at the top of the mirror
back (Fig 1).
2. Push the two fasteners with the large ribs
facing outwards into the slots provided at
the bottom of the mirror back (Fig. 2).
3. Attach one of the mounting bands to the
corresponding fastener, leaving sufficient
slack for mounting onto the vehicle mir
-
ror.
4. Now slide the MM 2100 sideways over the
vehicle rear view mirror. Pull the already
attached mounting band tight so that the
MM 2100 is held firmly in place.

5. Then attach the other mounting band to
the corresponding fastener behind the
vehicle rear view mirror.
6. Bring the MM 2100 into the final installa
-
tion position and pull the mounting
bands tight in order to ensure that it is
firmly attached (Fig. 3).
To release the mirror, press the sides of
the fastener together (e.g. for subse
-
quent adjustment or to remove the mir
-
ror).
7. Cut off the two excess lengths of fasting band and remove the protective film from the sur
-
face of the mirror.
8. Fasten the connecting cable to the bracket of the vehicle rear view mirror. Route the cable
above the top of the windscreen and down along the A-pillar to the installation position of
the navigation computer.
Connection
Attach the connecting cable to the navigation computer monitor output with the rectan
-
gular Mitsumi plug.
Your system is now operational.
Compatibility
The MM 2100 is compatible with the PC 54xx navigation computers and above.
MM 2100 can be used to a limited extent in conjunction with the MI 2xxx multimedia inter-
face boxes
The MM 2100 is not compatible with the MI 5000 or MC 5400.
Troubleshooting
In rare cases, your system may not function the way you expect it to. Before calling the servi-
ce department, please read the operating instructions thoroughly and go through the follo-
wing check list; it may be possible to quickly remedy an apparent malfunction.
Symptoms Possible cause / remedy
The monitor is not functioning. There is no
reaction when the ignition is switched on.
• Check the fuses (navigation computer and vehicle) and the
connections (see installation instructions).
Ambient temperature excessively high.
A protective circuit prevents the temperature in the monitor from
exceeding a specified value.
• Allow the monitor to cool down.
The picture is excessively dark/bright. • Set the desired brightness at the mirror.
Guidance information not audible. • Set the desired volume at the mirror.
Navigation system is in standby mode but the
monitor backlighting is still switched on.
• Switching off the monitor via the on/off button.
The navigation system does not react to remote
control commands.
• Point the remote control at the infrared receiver 5 of the MM
2100 to operate the navigation system.
The battery symbol flashes in the navigation system status line:
• Replace the batteries of the remote control.
