1. Getting started
In just a few minutes we’ll show you how easy it is to use
the features of your Motorazr V3xx.
1. Insert your SIM card
Insert your SIM card as shown. Make sure the gold con-
tacts are facing down and the cut-off edge is correctly
aligned.
2. Insert memory card (if available)
To insert a TransFlash memory card, push it in as shown.
Make sure the contacts are facing down and the cut-off
edge is correctly aligned.
3. Insert the battery
Insert the battery as shown, then fit the cover. The
battery may need charging. A full charge can take up
to 2 ½ hours.
4. Turn it on
Open the phone, then press and hold the p key. Do the
same to turn it off.

2. Using the handset
Keys and navigation
Navigation key: press in P to OK an action or select a highlighted
option. In standby mode this opens the main menu.
Press sideways to move around icons and menu lists. In standby mode,
press G > Ring Styles, E > Calendar, H > Contacts, F > Music.
Soft keys: press to select the option displayed in the bottom left or
right of the screen.
In standby mode the left soft key opens Messaging, the right soft key
opens Vodafone live!
Call key: press to make or answer a call. In standby mode this opens
Dialled Numbers. Press the * or # keys to see other call logs.
End key: press to end a call. At most other times, this takes you back to
the standby screen. Press and hold to turn the mobile phone on and off.
Video call key: press to make a video call or enter video call mode.
Clear/Back key: press to delete text and numbers, or to go back to
a previous page.

Vodafone live! key: press to open Vodafone live!
Volume keys (on the left side of the screen): press to adjust the volume.
Smart key (on the left side of the screen): in standby mode this opens
Music (see page 18). At all other times it acts as the P key.
Camera key (on the right side of the screen): press to start the photo
camera.

3. UMTS, voice calls and video calls
UMTS
The UMTS network supports faster data transmission and takes speed and service
availability to a new level.
Swisscom Mobile is introducing a variety of new services specifically for the UMTS
network. As well as being able to make and receive video calls, with Vodafone live!
you can also enjoy Mobile TV (see page 17).
UMTS service indicator
When the UMTS symbol appears next to the signal bars, you’ll be able to take
advantage of the faster, richer functions of the UMTS service. Of course, you’ll still be
able to use the existing network at other times.
The UMTS network is growing rapidly check out www.swisscom-mobile.ch/umts
for more information on where the service is available.
UMTS Broadband
UMTS Broadband is another name for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA).
This allows even faster data speeds than UMTS, and should make downloading data and
browsing the web even faster than before.
If UMTS or UMTS Broadband is not available, the GPRS network will be used instead.

Voice calls
1. Make a call
In standby mode, enter the number using the keypad and then press the N key.
Press O to end the call.
To use your Call list, press N in standby mode. Scroll to the number you want and
press the P key to start dialling. You can also press H to access your Contacts from
standby mode.
During a call, pressing Options brings up an option menu including turning on the
loudspeaker and muting the microphone.
2. Answer a call
Press N.
Video calls
When the UMTS symbol appears you can make and receive video calls. The other
person you’re calling must have a compatible UMTS phone and be in a UMTS area too.
1. Call a number
Enter a number or choose a contact, then press q. If the UMTS network is not avail-
able, you’ll be asked if you want to make a voice call.
You can also start a video call from other applications, such as Contacts or Calls list.
Just highlight the number and press q.

2. Adjusting the image
The small screen shows what the person you’re calling will see (you’ll see them in
the larger screen). Press External/Internal View to switch to the rear camera view.
Use a headset for the best sound quality.
Press GH to zoom in and out. Press Options for an option menu of other adjustments.
3. Answer a video call
Press q. Press Camera On/Off to turn your camera off or on (if you don’t want the
caller to view you).

4. Using the camera
With the built-in camera its easy to take photos and video clips. You can send these
to family and friends as a picture or video message (MMS see page 12).
Take and send a photo
1. Turn on the camera
Press the Camera key (on the right side of the screen), or go to Menu > Camera.
If the mobile phone is closed, you should turn it sideways to use it like an ordinary
camera.
2. Adjust the image
Press the navigation key F or E to zoom in and out, or GH to adjust exposure or style.
3. Take a photo
Press the Camera key or P to take the photo. Then press Options > Store only to
save it in Menu > My Files > Pictures. To delete the photo and take another one, press
Options > Discard.
You can also attach a photo to a contact name using Options > Apply as > Contact,
so that when they call you their picture will appear on screen.
4. Send the photo
Press Send. See the MMS section for further details.

5. Camera settings
With the camera active, press Options > Camera Setup.
6. Camera with flip closed
You can also take photos when the phone is closed. Start the camera with the phone
open, then close the cover: you should now see the camera view on the cover screen.
You can use the volume keys to zoom in and out.
Press the Camera key to take the photo, and press it again to store it. To delete
a photo, open the phone and press Options > Discard. To exit camera mode, open
the phone and return to the standby screen.
Take and send a video clip
1. Take a video clip
When the camera is active, press Options > Go to Video Mode. To start recording
press P, and press Stop to stop.
To delete it, press Options > Discard, or choose Options > Store only to save it
in My Files > Videos.
2. Send a video clip
To send it, press Send.
3. Video settings
When the Video camera is active, press Options > Video Setup. If you change video
length to maximum, you may not be able to send it as an MMS.
4. Memory
You can expand your phone memory by inserting a memory card.

5. Picture and video messaging (MMS)
With MMS (picture and video messaging) you can send more than just text messages
you can also send pictures, video clips and sounds to other MMS-enabled phones.
Create and send a message
1. Start a new message
In standby mode, press the left soft key, or go to Menu > Messaging. Choose Create
Message > New Message.
2. Add the text
Write your message using the keypad. For a space, press *. To cycle through common
symbols, press 1 repeatedly (press 1 then H to cycle through them in predictive
text mode). To cycle through Abc, abc or ABC, press 0. To enter a number, press and
hold the number key.
To send it as just a text message (SMS), press Send To and follow Step 5. To add
pictures, videos or sounds as a multimedia message (MMS) press the centre key
P to
go to Options > Insert.
Note: Writing a message with predictive text is much easier, because it uses an internal
dictionary to work out what word you want to use. You simply press the keys with the
letters you want once. If the grey word shown is the right one, press the navigation key
E. To cycle through alternative letter combinations, press H, then press P to select the
one you want. To change from predictive text (Û) to abc 1 (multiple key press), symbols
(&) and 123 (number) entry, press and repeat #.

3. Add a photo or video clip
Press Picture or Video. Select a photo or video clip and press P to add it to your
message.
Note: if you want to add a video clip you won’t be able to add any photos or sounds.
4. Preview
To see (and hear) your message, press Options > Preview. To go back to the message
screen, press Cancel. To delete an item, select it with the navigation key and press .
5. Send the message
Press Send To. To send to a mobile phone, press Options > Enter Number. To send
to an e-mail address, press Options > Enter Email.
To use a number or e-mail address from your phonebook, scroll down and choose
it from your Contact list press the first letter of the name to jump closer. Then press
Send.

Messaging tips
1. Sending to a mobile
If you’re sending the message to a person whose mobile phone isn’t MMS
compatible, they’ll be sent a web address to view it on. You can view received
messages in Messaging > Inbox.
2. Sending to more than one person
To send your message to more than one person, press Options > Sending Options
> Cc: and add more mobile phone numbers or e-mail addresses, or simply click
on more than one contact in the Send To screen.
3. Insert options
To add a sound clip to your message, select Options > Insert > Sound.
To record a new sound clip: Options > Insert > New Voice Note.
To take a new photo for your message: Options > Insert > New Picture.
To add a new video clip: Options > Insert > New Video.
To add another page to your message: Options > Insert > New Page.

6. Vodafone live!
Vodafone live! brings you new and exciting ways to communicate, to access infor-
mation, music and games, and to personalise your phone. Find more information at
www.swisscom-mobile.ch/vodafonelive
1. Connect
Simply press the Vodafone live! key at any time. To exit, press the p key and
select Yes.
2. Browsing
Use the navigation key to select a link, then press P to open it. Press Back to go back
a page.
3. Bookmarks
Press Options for the browser options menu. To go to a saved bookmark, press Open >
Shortcut, or to save a page as a bookmark, press Page > Shortcut Page.
4. Change browser view
Press the * key to switch between the standard browser display and a reduced size
display that you can use the navigation key to move around.
5. Go to offline links
To view selected Vodafone live! links without connecting, go to Menu > Vodafone live!
> Bookmarks. Choose a Vodafone live! service and press P to connect to it.

7. Downloading
Change your Motorazr V3xx whenever you want by downloading new real music
ringtones, videos, games, applications and background wallpaper from Vodafone live!
You can also stream video and audio (in contrast to downloading and saving).
Download to your phone
Wallpaper: Menu > My Files > Pictures > Download Pictures > More Pictures.
Ringtones: Menu > My Files > Ringtones > Download Ringtones > More Sounds.
Music: Menu > My Files > Music > Download Music > More Music.
Videos: Menu > My Files > Videos > Download Videos > More Videos.
Games: Menu > My Files > Games > Download Games > More Games.
Choose a download, press P to connect to it. Follow the instructions to download.
Downloaded games will automatically be stored on the memory card (if inserted).
Using your downloads
Select your new ringtone in My Files > Ringtones > Sounds > Options > Apply as
> Ringtone.
Select your new wallpaper in My Files > Pictures > All Pictures > Options > Apply as
> Wallpaper

8. Other services and functions
MMS Postcard
Now you can send a photo from your phone as an actual postcard. Go to Menu >
Messaging > Create Message > New live! Postcard, and add a picture and text (up
to 200 characters). Select Address > Options > Create New Address and add the
address or select a contact, then press Send. Swisscom Mobile will have it printed on
a postcard and sent by mail.
Mobile TV: exclusive service for Vodafone live! UMTS customers
A great way to get video news and entertainment, TV clips and sport. Connect to
Vodafone live! and choose Mobile TV. Choose a clip this will be streamed to you
directly, so you don’t have to store it.
1. Live TV
With Live TV on your mobile phone you can view exactly what is being screened on your
television at home. A wide range of stations means that you can quickly dip into your
weekly crime drama whilst on the move, watch the weather forecast or see the pick of
Sunday’s goals.
2. Replay TV
Missed your favourite TV programme? If your mobile phone is UMTS or EDGE-enabled,
no problem Replay TV provides TV formats round-the-clock designed specially for your
mobile.

Music
1. Create playlists
In standby mode, press Menu > Music > My Music. Press Playlists > Create New
Playlist, mark the tracks you want to add, and press Done. Then enter the name of
your new playlist. To play your playlist, press Options > Play.
2. Playing music with the cover closed
You can carry on listening to the music player with the phone closed. Press the Smart
key to open the playlist, then use the volume keys to choose a new track. Press the
Smart key again to pause or play a track. Press and hold the Smart key to lock the front
keys. Use the headphones for the best listening experience.
Phone hints
1. Silent and Vibrate modes
In standby mode (with the flip open), press the v volume key down to the lowest
level (1).
Press v again to go to Vibrate mode, and v again to go to Silent mode. Press V
until you restore the ring tone.
You can also press and hold the # key to activate Silent mode. Press and hold it
again to restore your ring tone.
2. Ring styles
You can also adjust the ring style. Pressing G in standby mode brings up the Ring
Styles menu. Pressing P then lets you select Loud/Soft/Vibrate/Vibrate & Ring/
Vibrate then Ring/Silent.
To change your ringtone, open the Ring Styles menu. For example, to change
the Loud ring style, select the Loud Detail option. You can then change the ring-
tones used for calls, messages and voicemail.
Press Back to return to the normal display.
3. Speaker mode
During a call, press Options > Speaker on/off to turn on/off the internal speaker-
phone.
