beam quality, high energy of single pulse, low pulse jitter.
Gauss Lasers guarantees that the quality and performance of the product matches the
specification listed in this manual before the product shipment. The package of the product is
reliable enough for normal transportation. If the package is broken after transportation, please
contact us immediately.
If you have any questions while reading this manual and using this product, please feel free

technical support and service to you. Thank you for your kindness.
2. Working Conditions and Cautions
2.1. Laser Safety Cautions
For the safety of yourself and other person, please read this section carefully.
This product will emit laser beam with high intensity and high linearity. The beam is invisible
light with wavelength of 1027-1040nm. Material exposed under the beam will result in
temperature increase and damage of surface structure. According to Standard IEC60825, the
hazard classification of the laser beam from this product is class-4. It is dangerous to observe
class-4 laser beam directly or under mirror reflection.
Please select the protective glasses with the right wavelength rejection!
Please wear the protective glasses properly during operating the product!
The laser beam of the product may cause ocular damage!
Avoid to watch the light source directly!
Avoid exposure of skin and clothes to the laser beam!
It’s forbidden in any case to aim the laser beam to human and
animal!
Prohibit juveniles to touch and operate the laser!
2.2. Working Condition
This product can only work in temperature within 20-28 and humidity within 20%-70%.
Keep the temperature and the humidity as constant as possible.
Keep the environment to be clean. Don’t expose this product under heavy dust.
The product should be mounted on a stable platform. Intense vibration or dropping may
cause damage.
Do not put any liquid container or any tiny parts close to the product thus to avoid any
unexpected case that liquid and tiny parts may fall into the instrument. If such case happened, shut
down the laser quickly.

2.3. Pay Attentions
The product need about 30 minutes for warming up after power on before ready to use.
Don’t execute working point rescan during this period.
Don’t block ventilation windows of the product so as to avoid heat accumulation inside
the product which will cause failure.
The laser machining result is heavily depending on laser performance and external
optical path. Make sure every mirror or lens is clear, without vibration and degradation.
Please power off the machine and cover the light output port when not using for long
time.
It is forbidden to disassemble and re-assemble the product without formal permission
from Gauss Lasers. Gauss Lasers will not be responsible for any damage caused by such
improper behavior. The warrantee will be automatically ineffective.
Move the instrument carefully. Please keep it from intense vibration and impact.

3. Product Description
3.1. General Introduction
The Y15 series femtosecond laser is one of the leading products produced by Gauss Lasers.
This product has compact size, low power consumption, easy maintenance and stable performance.
It supports burst mode. You can choose RS232, Ethernet, or DB25(marking card) to control laser.
The femtosecond laser pulse has ultra-high peak power, which is suitable for machining almost all
kinds of materials. The cutting precision is dramatically better than that of picosecond,
nanosecond laser pulse. The femtosecond laser pulse can be absorbed by transparent material such
as sapphire and glass. It has an overwhelming advantage when machining fragile materials with
high melting point.

4.2. Connector Description
4.2.1. RS-232 interface
4.2.1.1. RS-232 connector
The customer RS-232 connection is a standard female 9-pin D-sub connector. A cable with a
male connector is required (provided by Gauss Lasers) to use this interface. In order to establish
the communication via RS-232 refer to the following pin-assignments. The support data rate is
9600 Baud. Make sure to use an adequate cable.

4.2.2. Ethernet interface
4.2.2.1. Ethernet Connector
The Ethernet connector uses the industry standard receptacle for an RJ45 connector It can be
connected to a switch, router or PC using an CAT5 cable.
The laser’s IP address is fixed 192.168.47.100. Computer’s IP address needs to be set to the same
network segment, like 192.168.47.xxxx should not be equal to 100.
Although any web browser can be used, Google Chrome is suggested for the best experience.
4.2.2.2. Graphical User Interface
Figure 4-2 GUI example
The graphical user interface (GUI) starts by visiting 192.168.47.100. Output power, output
frequency and burst numbers can be set in this GUI. The laser status will display on the GUI as
well.
Fill the blank beside the parameter and press modify will change the parameter. If the input is
out of range, the web will give an alert and laser system will stay the same.

4.2.3. Control Interface
4.2.3.1. Control Connector
PORT3 and PORT4 are TTL compatible, unless otherwise noted in the pin description. For
interface design level, ranges or the TTL standard should be taken into consideration.
The cables connect to the control connector should be attached with a magnetic ring to avoid
interference or crosstalk.
