• Unevenweightdistributionoradditionalweightmayaffectthehandlingofthewatercraft.
Carbon Monoxide: TheexhaustfromtheengineonawatercraftcontainsCarbonMonox
ide(CO)whichisacolorless,odorlessandpoisonousgas.ExcessiveexposuretoCO
cancausesevereinjuryordeath.Followthisadvicetoavoidinjury.
• Never“PlatformDrag”byholdingontotheboardingplatformorbedraggeddirectlybehindthe
watercraft.ThisiswhereCOwillbe.
• Donotsitonthewatercrafttransomorboardingplatformwhiletheengineisrunning.
• Makesuretheengineisproperlytunedandrunningwell.Animproperlytunedenginepro-
ducesexcessiveexhaustandCO.
• Ifyousmellengineexhaustdonotstayinthatposition.

Tow Ropes: Towropescomeindifferentlengthsandstrengthsfordifferentactivities.Make
sureanyropeyouareusingissuitedforskiingorridingandthatitisingoodcondition.
• Neverusearopethatisfrayed,knotted,unravelingordiscoloredfromuseorbeingleftinthe
sun.Ifaropebreakswhileinuseitcanrecoilattheskier/riderbeingtowedorintothewater-
craftwhereitmightstrikepassengers.Replacetowropeswithanysignofdamage.
• Neveruseatowropewithelasticorbungeematerialtopullskiersorriders.
• Ropeshouldbeattachedtothewatercraftinanapprovedfashionwithhardwaredesignedfor
towing.Refertoyourwatercraftmanualforinstructionsonpropertowropeattachment.
• Alwayskeeppeopleandtowropesawayfromthepropeller,evenwhenidling.
• Ifatowropeshouldbecomeentangledinapropeller,shutoffengine,removethekeyandput
itinyourpocketbeforeretrievingtherope.
• Towropesshouldbeneatlystowedintheboatwhennotinuse.
Preparing to ski or ride: Alwayshaveapersonotherthanthedriverasanobservertolookout
fortheskier/rider.
• Besurethedriverisawareoftheexperienceandabilityleveloftheskier/rider.
• Thedriver,observerandskier/riderneedtoagreeonhandsignalsbeforeskiingorriding.
SignalsshouldincludeREADY,STOP,SPEEDUP,andSLOWDOWN.
• Starttheengineonlyaftermakingsurethatnooneinthewaterisnearthepropeller.
• Turn the engine off when people are getting into or out of the watercraft, or in the water
near the watercraft.
• Alwaysmakesurethetowropeisnotwrappedaroundanyone’shands,arms,legs,orother
parts of the body.
• Startthewatercraftandmoveslowlytoremoveslackuntilthetowropeistight.
• Whentheskier/ridersignalsREADYandthereisnotrafcahead,takeoffinastraightline.
Adjustthespeedaccordingtothesignalsgivenbytheskier/rider.
Skiing or Riding: Thewatercraftandskier/ridershouldalwaysmaintainasufcientdistancefrom
obstaclessoaskier/riderfallingorcoastingand/orwatercraftwillnotencounteranyobstacle.
