According to the U.S Coast Guard (USCG), Paddle Boards
outside a surf or swimming area are considered vessels, and
thus are subject to USCG regulations. When operating your
SUP outside a surf or swimming area, it is required to have a
Personal Flotation Device (PFD) on board. While adults don’t
have to wear a PFD, children must. Be sure to double check
your state’s regulations for age requirements.
