When Installing the Unit

When the Unit is in Use
• Should the following irregularity be found during
use, immediately turn off this unit's power switch,
disconnectthepowersupplyplugfromtheACoutlet
and contact your nearest TOA dealer. Make no
furtherattempttooperatetheunitinthiscondition
asthismaycausereorelectricshock.
· If you detect smoke or a strange smell coming
from the unit.
· Ifwateroranymetallicobjectgetsintotheunit
· f the unit falls, or the unit case breaks

When the Unit is in Use
• If dust accumulates on the power supply plug or
in the wall AC outlet, a re may result. Clean it
periodically.Inaddition, insertthepluginthewall
outlet securely.
• Switchoffthepower,andunplugthepowersupply
plug from theAC outlet for safetypurposeswhen
cleaningorleavingtheunitunusedfor10daysor
more.Doingotherwisemaycauseareorelectric
shock.
Thelightingashwitharrowheadsymbol,withinanequilateraltriangle,isintended
toalerttheusertothepresenceofuninsulated"dangerousvoltage"withintheproduct'senclosure

TheTOAE-232isa19"rackmountable(1unitsize),dual-channel2/3octavegraphicequalizer.

• Allows ne audio adjustment because each bandwidth (Q) remains constant whatever the equalization
amount is.
• Provideseither12dBor6dBboostorcutperchannel.
• Gaincontrol(+12dBto12dB),high-passlter(12dB/octaveandvariablefrom15Hzto300Hz),EQswitch
(ON/OFF)andpeakindicatorperchannel.
• AutomaticequalizerbypassfunctionprovidescompletesignalbypassofthisequalizerintheeventofanAC
powerloss,allowingthesoundoutputtobemaintained.

6. NOMENCLATURE AND FUNCTIONS

1. Power button/power lamp
This button switches power on (the lamp lights)
andoff(thelampisextinguished).
2.Securitycoverxingholes
Theseholesareprovidedtoxthesecuritycover
which protects control settings from accidental
change.
Mount the cover after setting completion, and
securewiththesuppliedscrews.
3. EQ ON/OFF button and EQ indicator
Press this button to operate the equalizer. (The
EQindicator will light.) Press thisbutton again to
bypassestheunit.(Theindicatorisextinguished.)
4. Peak indicator
Thisindicatorlightswhentheinputoroutputsignal
level comes within 3 dB of clipping. Adjust the
input signal level so that the indicator lights only
occasionally.
5. Gain control
Thiscontroladjuststhevariablegainof12dBto
+12dBdependingontheinputsignallevel.
6. HPF cut-off frequency control
Thiscontroladjuststhecut-offfrequencyofahigh-
pass lter that rejects undesired low frequency
components.Thelterhasaslopeof12dBper
octaveandisvariablefrom15Hzto300Hz.
7. Equalization controls
Thesecontrolsprovideequalizationateachof14
frequencies,allofwhicharecenteredat2/3octave
incrementsfrom40Hzto16kHz.
Boost/cutrangecanbesetforeither6dBor12dB
using an internal switch.
Aftersettingcompletion,attachthesuppliedblind
label to the unused range indication on the front
panel, so that the set range can be known at a
sight. Boostandcut arefactory-presetfor12dB.

5. HANDLING PRECAUTIONS
• Linevoltagemustnotexceed±10%ofthatindicatedattheunitsACinlet.Linefrequencycanbe50Hzor60Hz.
• ThepowersupplycordsuppliedwiththeE-232isdesignedforexclusiveusewitheachequipment.Neveruse
them with other equipment.
• Whencleaningtheunit,besuretoturnthepowerswitchtoOFF.Wipewithasoftdrycloth.Ifitgetsverydirty,
usethesoftclothslightlymoistenedinneutralcleanser.Neverusethinner,benzene,chemicallyprocessed
towels,oralcoholastheunitsplasticorotherpartsmaybedeformedordiscolored.

8. AC inlet
Connectthisinlettothewalloutletviathesupplied
powercord.
9. Signal ground
Hum noise may be generated when external
equipmentisconnectedtotheunit.
Connecting this terminal to the signal ground
terminal of the external equipment may reduce
the hum noise.
Note
Thisgroundisnotforprotectiveground.
10. Input and output terminals
These terminalsare ofunbalanced type.Phone
jacks and screw terminals are connected in
parallel. When usingthescrewterminals, "H"is
hotand"E"isagroundingpoint.
11. Rubber feet (standard accessories)
Depending on the installation conditions, attach
thesuppliedrubberfeettothebottomofchassis.

7. INTERNAL SWITCH SETTINGS
Thisworkshouldonlybeperformedbyaqualifiedprofessional
electrician. If users open the unit case or modify the unit, this may
cause fire or electric shock.

The E-232 enables the following functions by setting the internal switches.
(1)Equalizationrangesetting
Boost(amplication)orcut(attenuation)canbesetforeither6dBor12dBperchannel.
(2)Groundloopcut[GNDswitch]
Dependingonconnectedequipment,agroundloopthatgenerateshumnoisemaybecreated.Insuchacase,
settheGNDswitchto"LIFT"positiontocutthegroundloop.
