1. In
sert batteries into the battery compartments of the Power
Screwdriver (see Battery Installation and Instructions).
2. Show the child the three different drill bits (flat tip, Phillips, and
socket). Snap a bit into the Power Screwdriver.
3. Help the child snap a bit into the Power Screwdriver.
4. Point out the three positions of the power switch on the Power
Screwdriver – forward, off, and reverse.
5. Place one of the bolts into a hole in the Toolkit case and have the
child use the forward position of the Power Screwdriver to screw it in.
Demonstrate how to use the reverse position to remove the bolt.
PPAATTTTEERRNNSS
Be
fore presenting the patterns, encourage the child to play freely
with the Power Screwdriver, Toolkit case, and bolts – screwing the bolts
in randomly, or creating simple patterns and pictures.
When you feel the child is ready to work with the patterns in this
booklet, choose one of the simple patterns. Place it next to the board
to develop matching skills. Encourage the child to pay close attention
to the relative positions of the bolts by counting the number of
blank holes.

1. Open the battery compartment door on the Power Screwdriver by loosening
the screw holding it in place.
2. Install three fresh AA-cell (DC 1.5v) batteries into the battery compartment,
following the diagram showing correct battery installation.
3. Do not use rechargeable batteries.
4. Do not mix old and new batteries.
5. Do not mix different types of batteries: alkaline, standard (carbon zinc) or
rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
6. Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
7. Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before being charged.
8. Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
9. Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
10. Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.
11. Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the toy.
12. The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
13. To prevent corrosion and possible damage to the product, it is
recommended to remove the batteries from the unit if it will not be
used for more than two weeks.
14. Close the battery compartment door and tighten the screw.
15. Cleaning instructions: Clean product with a damp or dry cloth—do not
immerse or spray any liquid or water on product.
