Hydraulic
Safety
Precautions
When disconnecting the hydraulic hoses or when purging is required, be aware
that the hydraulic oil within the machine system may be extremely hot and under
high pressure. Caution must be exercised. Any work carried out on the hydraulic
system must be performed in accordance with the machine manufacturers
approved maintenance instructions. Raven Industries recommends that
appropriate protective equipment be worn when working on the hydraulic
system.Objects or materials that are able to bypass the machine’s hydraulic
filtration system will adversely reduce performance and possibly damage the
hydraulic valves.
Electrical Safety
Precautions
Do not reverse the power leads. Doing so will cause severe damage to the
equipment. Always check to make sure that the power leads are connected to the
correct polarity as marked. Ensure that the power cable is the last cable to be
connected.
Important: Hydraulics are under pressure. Never attempt to
open or work on a hydraulic system with the equipment
running. Care should always be taken when first opening a
system that was previously pressurized.

1. Attach pressure switch to PS port on SmarTrax valve before mounting
valve to ensure proper clearances.
2. Using the t-shaped bracket, mount the valve on the right side of the
machine, either between the steps (by drilling holes in front of the rear
fender), or by using the steel plate on the lower right front corner of the
cab.
Remember: The supplied hoses are meant to reach to the side
of the tractor and will have excess length when the valve is
mounted on the corner of the cab.

Installing Load
Sense Lines
1. Remove the steering load sense line from the pump located on the right
side of the tractor, in front of the rear tire.
2. Trace the load sense line from the orbital back to be sure you have the
correct line. The orbital load sense line is the smallest of the 5 fittings
that are on the orbital and is located between two of the larger fittings.

3. Attach the 90 degree end of the supplied hose (P/N 214-1000-443) to
the open Load Sense Port on the tractor pump.
4. Route the hose to the SmarTrax valve and connect it to the LS PV Port
using a 90 degree fitting.
5. Attach the 90 degree end of the supplied short adapter hose (P/N 214-
1000-447) to the LS Steer Port.
6. Route the original steering load sense line to the SmarTrax valve and
connect it to the adapter hose that is attached to the LS Steer Port.

Installing the
Pressure and
Tank Lines
1. Locate the pressure line on the steering orbital. (if you are sitting in the
cab, it is the front, lower right port on the valve).
2. Mark the pressure line and remove it from the orbital.
3. Remove the tank line (located above the pressure line on the orbital)
and install a supplied tee on the port.
4. Attach the original tank line to the top of the tee you just installed.
5. Attach the supplied hose (P/N 214-1000-445) to the tee using the
supplied reducer fitting and the 90 degree fitting.
6. Route the hose to the SmarTrax valve and attach it to the “T” port using
a 90 degree fitting.

Steer Lines
Steer Line Basics
The left and right steer lines from the orbital attach to the steel lines on the right
side of the machine. The right steer port is next to the pressure port on the orbital.
The left steer port is next to the tank port. Follow the directions below to install
the left and right steer lines.
Installation
1. Mark the hoses and steel lines with ‘Left’ and ‘Right’, then disconnect
them.
2. Attach the supplied tee fittings to the steel lines. Do not re-attach the
original hoses.
