Safety precautions
W
ARNING!
Installing antennas is dangerous. For your safety, follow the installation directions.
Keep the antenna away from power source, street lamps, distribution box, or other places that may
cause electrical shock.
Do not touch any power lines for your safety.
Keep safety in mind when you select your installation site. Keep the antenna away from electric
power lines and other lines.
Do not work alone when you install the antenna.
If you need to raise the mast, work with other people to avoid bodily injury.
Do not use a metal ladder. Do not work on a wet or windy day. Dress properly, for example, shoes
with rubber soles. Wear rubber gloves.
If the antenna, antenna cable, or any other installation accessory drops, get away from it to avoid
bodily injury.
If an accident, for example, electrical shock, occurs with the power lines, immediately call for
qualified emergency help.
Installation guidelines
The ANT-2503C-M3 is designed to be mounted indoors on a ceiling to maximize its
MIMO-omnidirectional propagation characteristics. Install multiple antennas where necessary because
doors, windows, and walls degrade signal quality. Keep the antenna away from metal obstructions and
wire mesh.
Choosing a mounting location
The ANT-2503C-M3 is typically mounted indoors on the ceiling. Keep the antenna away from metal
obstructions such as heating and air-conditioning ducts. Typically, the higher an antenna is above the
ground, the better it performs. If possible, use a cable as short as possible to connect the antenna and
AP.
Mounting the antenna
You can mount the ANT-2503C-M3 antenna on a ceiling by using bolts or a T-rail. The installation
accessories are provided (installation tools are user supplied). If you intend to mount your antenna on
another surface, you must provide the appropriate installation accessories.
Tools and accessories required
Accessories provided with the antenna for bolt-mounting:
{ One paper mounting template
{ Two M6 bolts
{ Two M6 hex nuts
Manual Version:5PW100-20120627
5
{ Two 6 mm (0.24 in) diameter flat washers
{ Two 6 mm (0.24 in) diameter spring washers
Accessories provided with the antenna for T-rail mounting:
{ One paper mounting template
{ Two clips fastened on the antenna
{ Two mount clamps
User-supplied tools:
{ One adjustable wrench
{ One electric drill and associated drill bits
Mounting the antenna on a ceiling
The ANT-2503C-M3 antenna can be mounted on a ceiling by bolts or a T-rail.
Bolt mounting
To mount the antenna by using bolts:
1. Use the paper mounting template to mark the holes on the ceiling where you want to mount the
antenna and then drill five holes in the ceiling. See Figure 6.

te
2. Thread the two M6 bolts into the screw holes at the antenna base (see Figure 7) and fasten them.

3. Thread the antenna cable and M6 bolts through the holes you drilled in step 1 until the base of the
antenna is flush with the ceiling. Thread the M6 hex nut, flat washer, and spring washer (callout 4
in Figure 8) th
rough the M6 bolt (callout 3 in Figure 8) and fasten them until the antenna is secured
in place.
4. Fasten the other M6 bolt with the other set of M6 hex nut, flat washer, and spring washer.

T-rail mounting
To mount the antenna by using a T-rail:
1. Use the paper mounting template to mark the holes on the ceiling where you want to mount the
antenna and then drill five holes in the ceiling. See Figure 9.

3. Thread the antenna cable through the holes you drilled in step 1 until the base of the antenna is
flush with the ceiling.
4. Fasten the clips to the mount clamps until the antenna is secured in place. See Figure 11.

Recommended cable
H3C recommends that you use a high-quality, low-loss cable with the antenna. Coaxial cable loses
efficiency as the frequency increases, causing signal loss. Keep the cable as short as possible because
cable length also causes signal loss (the longer the run, the greater the loss).
