J/B/G-0600 COMPRESSOR REPLACEMENT
Installation Instructions
NOTE: THIS REPLACEMENT IS ONLY FOR THE J, B, AND G-SERIES ICE MACHINES. START AND RUN
COMPONENT CHANGES VARY WITH THE TYPE OF MACHINE. FOR J-SERIES MACHINES ONLY, THE
RUN CAPACITOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH THE ONE INCLUDED IN THE KIT. B AND G-SERIES
MACHINES NEED ALL OF THE START AND RUN COMPONENTS REPLACED WITH THE ONES
INCLUDED IN THE KIT.
1. Disconnect power to the ice machine at the electrical
disconnect (moving the toggle switch to the off
position will not disconnect line voltage).
2. Remove panels (top, front, left and right sides).
3. Recover refrigerant from ice machine.
4. Remove right side corner post (when facing the front
of the machine) and back panel.
5. Remove wiring from compressor terminals.
6. Unsweat suction line at compressor port. Unsweat
discharge and process lines at the T fitting and
swage joint (or after “T” fitting, if remote)
respectively.
NOTE: IF REPLACING COMPRESSOR IN A
REMOTE ICE MACHINE, BE SURE TO
UNSWEAT THE CONNECTION BETWEEN
THE HPR VALVE AND THE PROCESS
TUBING AT THE “T” FITTING.
7. Remove compressor from machine. Make sure to
crimp and braze shut ports to compressor.
8. Insert new compressor into the machine, as shown.

“T” Fitting

9. Fit tubing provided into the proper place, as shown.
Cut ice machine suction line to fit new tubing.
Deburr suction line before fitting new tubing in.
NOTE: IF REPLACING COMPRESSOR INTO A
REMOTE ICE MACHINE, MAKE SURE TO
FIRST FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS A, B, AND C
BELOW, BEFORE PROCEEDING TO
INSTRUCTION #10.
A. Replace elbow with “T” fitting.
B. Replace HPR valve and L-shaped tube that was
removed earlier. Adjust to fit without rubbing
against any other parts of the machine.
C. Return to instruction #10.
10. Place armaflex insulation provided in kit on suction
line, as shown in picture below. Slide insulation up
tubing and secure while brazing.
11. Braze all tubing into place. Purge system with
nitrogen during all brazing operations on the ice
machine.
12. Use electrical tape to seal suction line insulation.
13. Reattach the wiring harness to the compressor.
14. Replace the filter/dryer before evacuating the
machine. Make sure that the filter/dryer tubing is
not rubbing against the compressor.
15. Evacuate machine to 500 microns.

16. Charge the machine with the nameplate charge.
17. Make sure that all the tubing is not rubbing against
anything else in the machine.
18. Reinstall the corner post that was removed earlier
and place electrical cover on compressor.
19. Reinstall back panels of ice machine.
20. Make sure to replace start and run components
according to the machine you are replacing the
compressor in. See note in the beginning of
instructions for designation.
21. Reinstall all other panels.
22. Reconnect power and test run ice machine.
