so that you may obtain the greatest benefit from using the device.

This manual presents the specifications, functions, and method of use of the CompactPCI/

PICMG2.16 PentiumM CPU board A6pci8019.

Please read this manual before using the product in order to insure its safe use.

Install the product in well-ventilated locations.

Remove the power plug from the receptacle

1. Prior to use

1.1 Period and scope of warranty

Delivered products are under warranty for a period of one year after delivery.

During the period of warranty, the vendor will have his own to responsibility replace or repair

malfunctioning parts if the product malfunction is the responsibility of the vendor.

However, this warranty does not apply under the following circumstances:

(1) If the user handles or uses the product in an inappropriate way

(2) If the malfunction is caused by something other than the delivered product

(3) If the delivered product has been modified or repaired by anyone other than the vendor

(4) Due to natural disaster, accident, or other reason not the responsibility of the vendor

In this context, the term ″warranty″ means solely a warranty of the individual delivered product,

and does not include any compensation for the damage caused by malfunction of the delivered

product.

1.2 Scope of service

The service costs such as the costs of sending technical personnel are not included in the price of the

delivered product. Customers will be charged for the following costs:

(1) Assistance with installation adjustments and test running

(2) Maintenance inspections, adjustments, and repairs

(3) Technical assistance and technical training

The A6pci8019 is a PentiumM based CompactPCI CPU board that supports PICMG Packet Switching Backplane

Specification 2.16.

The A6pci8019 has the following features:

6. Settings

6.1 A6pci8019 on-board components

Figure 6.1 shows the external appearance of the A6pci8019 board.

Please configure the A6pci8019 in accordance with each of the following sections.

6.1.1 JP1 (Jumper switch for clearing CMOS)

The JP1 is used to restore default values for data backed up by the battery (to clear CMOS).

Normally, nothing needs to be done with the JP1 jumper.

Use JP1 only when the BIOS setup screen fails after battery change or CMOS was damaged by misoperation.

Follow the following procedures to clear CMOS:

(1)Remove the A6pci8019 from the rack after turn off the rack power.

(2)Short JP1.

(3)Wait at least 1 second and return JP1 to an open status.

(4)Restore the A6pci8019 into the rack.

6.1.2 JP2 (Jumper switch for setting CompactPCI)

JP2 is for setup of CompactPCI interface. JP2 is used to determine whether you use the CompactPCI bus

or not.

The settings of JP2 is effective only when using this board at the system slot.

In the peripheral slot, the CompactPCI interface of this board is disconnected from a bus regardless of the

setting of JP2.

6.1.3 DSW1 (DIP switch for users)

It is a DIP switch which users can determine the way of use freely.

A value "1" at the ON side, and a value "0" at the OFF side is read from I/O Status Register 2 (Section 7.3.6).

6.1.4 CN3 (CompactFLASH socket)

CN3 is a socket for CompactFLASH.

The module which can be used is CompactFLASH which suits "CF+ and CompactFLASH Specification

Revision 2.1" or the small hard drive. And it must be able to operate at 3.3V.

CompactFLASH module is not contained in this product.

The CompactFLASH is connected as a master device of primary IDE.

The CompactFLASH interface of this board does not support hot swapping. Please turn off the power, extract

or insert CompactFLASH.

Using the 2.5"HDD fixing screw and spacer (they are both attached to this product) , you can lock the

CompactFlash so that it may not fall off. After attaching CompactFLASH, you can prevent falling off or loosing

the CompactFLASH form the socket, as shown below photo.

6.1.5 CN10,11 (DDR-SO-DIMM socket)

CN10 and CN11 are the sockets for mounting a memory module.

The memory module with which it is satisfied of the specification of Table 6.3 can be used.

One 1GB memory module with ECC and compliant to PC2700 is included in this product by standard.

When you attach the memory module, carry out in the following procedure.

When you attach the memory module, carry out in the following procedure.

(1)Extract A6pci8019 from the rack.

(2)Insert a memory module slanted to CN10.

(3)Push the upper end of the memory module, and apply power so that the module becomes parallel to this

board. Then it clicks and the memory module is fixed. If latches of the both ends of the socket is hard,

push the memory module, extending the latch lever slightly.

(4)Check that the socket is correctly equipped with the memory module, and return the board to the rack.

6.1.6 CN12 (Connector for connect of 2.5"HDD)

CN12 is IDE Connector for 2.5"HDD.

The hard disk or flash disk which satisfies the specification of Table 6.4 can be used.

The disk is not contained in this product.

2.5"HDD is connected as a master device of secondary IDE.

When you attach a 2.5"HDD, carry out in the following procedure.

(1)Extract A6pci8019 from the rack.

(2)Attach a spacer with a washer (they are attached to this product) to four threaded screw holes of the

bottom face of 2.5"HDD.

(3)Attach harness (included in this product) to the IDE connector of 2.5"HDD. Please bend the harness

slightly as shown below.

(4)Turn 2.5"HDD over, and lap over A6pci8019 on it. Then fix the HDD by four screws included in this

product.

(5)Connect the harness to CN12 of A6pci8019 and return to the rack.

6.1.7 BAT1 (Battery for CMOS backup)

It is a battery for backup the various setups data of BIOS.

The battery life is approximately 10 years (25 deg. C).

The battery is directly soldered to the daughter board of this product. And the battery itself is not sold at an

electric store. Please tell our company sales representatives when you want to change the battery.

6.1.8 MJ1 3 (PMC connector)

This connector is used for the installation of the PMC module.

PMC modules that satisfy the specifications indicated in Table 6.5 can be used with the A6pci8019.

See Section 8.3 for pin assignments.

6.1.9 J1,J2 (CompactPCI connector)

This connector is used for a bus interface of CompactPCI.

It is necessary that J1 and J2 connect to a back-plane regardless of using CompactPCI bus.

When you use this board as a system controller of CompactPCI, the peripheral boards which can act as bus

master are inserted in a logical slots 2-5. In the logical slots 6-8, peripheral boards cannot act as bus master.

6.1.10 J3,J5 (Connector for rear I/O connect)

This connector is used for a rear I/O connect.

J3 connector also uses for PICMG2.16 ethernet connector.
