INSTALLATION, OPERATION, REPAIR AND MANTINANCE INSTRUCTIONS
PRODUCT SERIES: A-360 MANIFOLD SERIES
ATTENTION: Please follow all of the instruction in this manual carefully and read the entire manual completely,
failure to do so may cause the product to function improperly or fail causing serious injury or death.
DANGER DANGER
ANHYDROUS AMMONIA IS AN INHALATION HAZARD AND WILL CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR
DEATH. PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN HANDLING IT OR PERFORMING ANY
MAINTENANCE ON EQUIPMENT USED FOR ANHYDROUS AMMONIA.
ATTENTION: Before performing any installation, repair or maintenance please follow the instructions below.
1. You must be certified to work with anhydrous ammonia. If you are not please seek out the appropriate
agricultural department to attend a class to obtain the proper certification.
2. Wear appropriate safety goggles, gloves and breathing apparatuses.
3. Drain all tanks, hoses and piping of anhydrous ammonia COMPLETELY before removing, installing, performing
maintenance or repairing any equipment.
4. Always remove device from service before performing any maintenance or repair
5. have sufficient water near by
6. Obey all local, state and federal laws regarding the handling of anhydrous ammonia
TIPS
1. Always keep hoses the same length from the splitter to the manifold and from the manifolds to the applicator
knives.
2. Use pressure gauges on the manifolds and splitters, if you have a plugged knife it will show in the pressure
gauge.
3. If you are doing boom style shut offs on your manifolds remember to put a hydrostat relief valve in your
system. The splitters come with an additional ¼” port to do this.
4. Do not plug any of the outlets. These manifolds are custom made to the exact number of outlets on your bar;
if you plug any of them it will affect the performance of the manifolds.
5. It’s not critical to mount the splitter above the manifolds. If your plumbing scheme requires that the
manifolds are a little higher or lower than the splitter that is acceptable.
INSTALLATION & OPERATION
1. Attach mounting bracket to tool bar by welding it to a cross member or attaching it
by using a 1/2" nut and bolt, not supplied, as shown in the picture below.
MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
WELDED OPTION ABOVE 1/2” BOLT OPTION ABOVE
2. Attach manifold to the mounting bracket with the included u-bolt nuts and washers
as shown below.
NOTE: Pictures shows upside down but can be mounted right side up if desired
3. Make sure the u-bolt is place in the grove machined in the manifold and attach the
lock washer and nut as shown the picture below.
4. Depending on your plumbing needs you can mount the manifolds right side up or
upside down. See picture below.
Right side up Upside Down
5. There are ¼” pipe ports on top and bottom of the manifold to accommodate pressure
gauges, bleeder valves or any other item you see fit.
3 = 1/4" pipe ports
6. Run anhydrous ammonia hose or pipe fittings to the inlet and outlets of the manifold.
7. When installing the splitter follow the above steps to mount it to the toolbar
8. The splitter was designed to have stainless steel threaded orifices on the outlet ports
of the manifold, see picture below.
Threaded orifice not installed Threaded orifice installed
Use a 5/8” socket wrench to install or remove them when necessary. See picture
below
These orifices can be swapped out for different sizes depending on your application
needs. Select the correct orifice based on your application needs by referring to the
chart below
GPM per outlet 100 psi tank GPM per outlet 50 psi tank Orifice
Up to 7 GPM Up to 5 GPM .302
5 to 12 GPM 4 to 9 GPM .437
12 to 25 GPM 9 to 18 GPM JUMBO
To determine your GPM per outlet use one of the following formulas:
#NH3 per acre X speed X tool bar width in feet X .1212 ÷ 5.14 ÷ 60 ÷ number of manifolds = GPM per outlet
Gallons per minute ÷ number of manifolds = GPM per outlet
#N per acre X speed X tool bar width in feet X .1212 ÷ .82 ÷ 5.14 ÷ 60 ÷ number of manifolds = GPM per outlet
The .302 is designed for lower volume application of 7 GPM per outlet and the .437
are designed for higher rates of 14 GPM per outlet. If you find the .437 is still too
low we have a JUMBO model available in a 3 and 4 outlet versions. There is no need
for a JUMBO splitter when you have 5 or more outlets on your splitter. For help
determining which orifice to use please see orifice chart above and included in the
bag with the orifices or call us at 800-537-5642.
9. The inlet size on the splitter is 1-1/4”. It is not necessary to plumb 1-1/4” hose to the
splitter; you may bush it down to accommodate 1” hose if needed. This will not
affect the performance of the splitter.
10. The outlet of the splitter is 3/4" pipe thread. On splitters of 4 outlets or more it is
Not necessary to use 1” hose. The large diameter hose creates separation of the
liquid and the vapor that is undesirable. Although it is not required to use 3/4”
hose for the manifolds work we do encourage the use of it. If you have 1” hose
and need to adapt to the splitter you can purchase a Continental NH3 adaptor
part number 360-1750 that will thread into the splitter and give you a 1”
female thread to attach to. MAINTENANCE
1. Check manifold regularly for leaks and wear.
2. If manifold is leaking from any pipe threads try tightening the hose fitting and
putting more thread sealant on the pipe threads. Be careful not to over tighten
because you may crack the casting. If casting cracks see drawing break down and
replace appropriate part.
3. If manifold leaks from a connection other than a pipe thread install a repair kit part
number A-360MA-RK for the manifold and A-360SP-RK for the splitter, or replace
unit. A-360MA MANIFOLD REPAIR
