Connectors: Small binding posts.
Power Handling: Transformers rated at 100 Watts RMS continuous (300 Watts audio)
35Hz-20kHz.
Wire: 16 to 14 Gauge recommended.
WARNING! If your amplifier is a series output type and with both A and B speaker sets engaged, a volume
control effects all the speakers, you must determine if the A and B outouts are wired in series or in parallel.
To test your amplifier, connect a single speaker to the A left channel output, and a single speaker to the B left
channel output. Turn on the amplifier and select a source. Activate both A & B outputs. With the music
playing at a moderate level, disconnect any of the four wires from the back of the amplifier. If the music goes
out completely, your amplifier outputs are wired in series. If one speaker continues to play, the amplifier
outputs are wired in parallel. Next follow these steps:
1.) Make sure that the wiring is correct.
2.) If the wiring is correct, the problem may be with your particular brand of amplifier. Some models
(i.e. Sony ) use the B speaker + as the first output, when in series mode. To correct the situation,
wire the speaker A outputs to the B input on the plate, and the B outputs to the A input on the plate.

The LM-3 is a high quality unit that allows you to operate four sets of speakers (up to six 8 Ohm
speaker pairs by doubling up on two locations) from a single amplifier without impedance problems. It can
accomplish this with amplifiers whose A & B outputs are wired in parallel or series. (See diagram for
graphical explanation of parallel and series.) It is the only unit in the world that can effectively accomplish
this task.
The wiring diagram for the front of the unit, gives you two options for connecting your multi-room
speaker system. Option A: Indicates the proper connections, when using a single stereo amplifier with
speaker A and B outputs. Option B: Indicates the proper connections when using separate amplifiers.
To connect the speaker wires to your LM-3, first unscrew the binding post to reveal the wire hole on
the connector. Strip the insulation off the wire end and insert into the wire hole (the binding posts are spaced
to accept banana jacks if desired). Be sure to follow the wiring diagram exactly to avoid amplifier damage,
paying particular attention to the polarity (+ and -) of all connections.
NOTE: During use, the front of the unit can become warm. This is normal. Also be aware that the main living
room speakers may be slightly louder than the other multi-room speakers in the system, depending on your
set up.
