We are pleased you decided in favour of this very convenient electric lighter and
wouldliketothankyouforyourcondence.Tomakesureyoucanenjoyusingthis
appliance for a long time, please read through the following notes carefully and
observe them. Keep this instruction manual safely. Hand out all documents to third persons
when passing on the appliance. Thank you very much.
Intended use
The appliance is designed for lighting-up charcoal, barbecue briquettes and chimney wood
(domestic use only). Other uses or modifications of the appliance are not intended and harbour
considerable risks. For damage arising from not intended use, the manufacturer does not
assume liability. The appliance is not designed for commercial use.

• Attention! Hazard of fire! Only use the heater in a heat-resistant, solid and level fireplace and
only operate it when covered with fuel material.
• Attention! Hazard of fire! When placing the lighter in the fireplace observe that it cannot fall
out even if not covered with fuel material.
• Attention! Hazard of fire! For cooling-down and storage place the appliance on the provided
base stand only. The hot heating element must not touch the power cord or other flammable
materials.
• Attention! Hazard of fire! Never use any further light-up aids.
• Attention! Hazard of burns! During operation, the appliance’s surfaces are getting hot and
firstly stay hot even after switching the appliance off.
• Donotatalloperatethisunitwithanexternaltimeroraseparatetelecontrolsystem.
• Pullthemainsplugaftereachuse.Seetoitthattheappliancecannottipoverorfalldowndue
to an accidental entangling in the power cord.
• Keepthepowercordawayfromhotsurfaces,sharpedgesandmechanicalforces.Damagedor
entangled cords increase the risk of an electric shock.
• Donotmisusethepowercordforunpluggingtheappliance.
• Checkthepowercordregularlyfordamageanddeteriorations.Donotoperatetheappliance
when the power cord or the mains plug is damaged. A damaged power cord presents a hazard
of life by electric shock.
• Thiselectricalappliancecomplieswiththerelevantsafetystandards.Incaseofsignsof
damage to the appliance or the power cord, unplug the appliance immediately. Repairs may
be effected by authorised specialist shops only. Improper repairs may result in considerable
dangers for the user.
Prior to initial use
Check the scope of supply for completeness as well as the soundness of the product and all
components immediately after unpacking.
How to operate your appliance
The appliance is designed for a maximum continuous operation time of 30
minutes.Oncethistimehasbeenreached,theappliancemustbecut-offandhas
to cool down. If this is not observed, the appliance might be damaged.
ADVICE: We recommend wearing oven gloves when handling the lighter. This will protect
you from flying sparks and burns caused by too much heat.

Cleaning and maintenance
Howtostartthelight-up
1. Upon completion of the preparations once again reassure that the heater is positioned
securely and correctly within the fireplace.
2. Now connect the lighter to the mains by plugging it into a power outlet.
3. The light-up process starts. Depending on the fuel material you may reckon with an
operation time of 10 - 20 minutes. Do not leave the lighter unattended during use and
never try to accelerate the light-up process by blowing into the fireplace with any kind
of blower or fan.
Howtonishthelight-up
1. To finish the light-up process, unplug the appliance from the mains by pulling the
power plug.
2. Take the lighter out of the fireplace. When doing so, pay attention that no glowing
embers fall out.
3. Let the lighter cool down.
Ensure that for cooling-down and storage the appliance is
placed on the provided base stand only.
• Alwaysunplugtheapplianceandallowittocooldownbeforecleaning!
• Cleanthelighterwithamoistclothandwipeitdryafterwards.
• Never immerse the appliance in water and make sure no steam or water
may infiltrate the handle!
• Neveruseasteamjetapplianceforcleaning!
• Onnoaccount,youmustusesteelwool,scrubbingpads,abrasivesorsol-
vents!
Preparing the appliance for use
1. Fill a heat-resistant, solid and level fireplace with one layer of suitable fuel material,
e.g. charcoal or barbecue briquettes.
2. Place the lighter within the fireplace securely so that it will not fall out even if not
covered with fuel material. See to it that the plastic handle is situated outside the
fireplace.
3. Now fill the fireplace with a second layer of fuel material in order to cover the heating
element.
Pay attention that the heating element will be covered by the
fuel material only up to the spacer (max. depth).
