, The skin on berries is generally OK, but make sure the pulp is well mixed, so the skin doesn’t
clump together
15 All pips, seeds, and stones must be removed – some taste bad, some are poisonous, most will
block or even break the nozzle.
16 Don’t use pomegranates – the seeds will damage the nozzle.
17 Don’t use nuts – they will damage the nozzle.
18 If you want nuts, mix them them to the pulp afterwards, or use as a topping.
C FREEZING THE FRUIT
19 Chop the fruit into chunks.
20 Dry the chunks with kitchen paper.
21 Freeze the chunks on a tray (overnight is ideal).
22 When frozen, the fruit can be bagged, marked, and kept in the freezer for future use, or
mashed right away.
C MIXING THE FRUIT
23 There are two ways to mix the fruit:
a) Split the bananas, cut the other fruits into 40mm chunks, so they’ll fit the tube, freeze
them, feed them separately down the tube, and mix the pulp in a bowl.
b) Cut everything into small (15-20mm) chunks, freeze them, then feed the tube with
handfuls of mixed chunks, so the pulp comes out the nozzle ready-mixed.
24 Try both – even with the same fruits, they’ll taste different.
25 For a slightly softer pulp, let the fruit chunks thaw for 5-10 minutes before pulping.
C SORBET/GRANITA
26 If you choose a particularly juicy fruit or berry, and use the appliance without the banana,
you’ll end up with something that looks, tastes, and feels about half way between sorbet and
granita.
