MIXING
Beforestarting,takeappropriatesafetyprecautions.Seethe

For10-lb.(4,54-kg)size:
1a. Intoacleanmixingcontainer,pourabout1to1.2U.S.
qts.(0,95to1,14L)ofcleanpotablewater.Gradually
add10lbs.(4,54kg)ofpowderwhileslowlymixing.
For25-lb.(11,3-kg)size:
1b. Intoacleanmixingcontainer,pourabout2.5to3U.S.
qts.(2,37to2,84L)ofcleanpotablewater.Gradually
add25lbs.(11,3kg)ofpowderwhileslowlymixing.
For50-lb.(22,7-kg)size:
1c. Intoacleanmixingcontainer,pourabout5to6U.S.
qts.(4,73to5,68L)ofcleanpotablewater.Gradually

2. Usealow-speedmixingdrill(atabout300rpm),with
an angled cross-blade mixer or double-box mixer.
Mix thoroughly until the mixture becomes a smooth,
homogenous, lump-free paste. Avoid prolonged
mixing.
3. Letthemixturestand(“slake”)for10minutes.
4. Remix.
5. Ifthemixturebecomesheavyorstiff,remixwithout
adding more liquid or powder.
PRODUCT APPLICATION
1. Chooseatypicalnotchedtrowel(see"Approximate
Coverage"chart)withsufcientdepthtoachievemore
than80%mortarcontacttoboththetileandsubstrate
forallinteriorapplications,andmorethan95%
for exterior installations, commercial floor and wet
applications.Itmaybenecessarytoback-butterthe
tileinordertomeettheserequirements.(RefertoANSI
A108.5specicationsandTCNAHandbookguidelines.)
2. Withpressure,applyacoatbyusingthetrowel’sat
sidetokeymortarintothesubstrate.
3. Applyadditionalmortar,combingitinasingle
directionwiththetrowel’snotchedside.
4. Spread only as much mortar as can be tiled before
productskinsover.Opentimecanvarywithjobsite
conditions.
5. Placethetilesrmlyintothewetmortar.Pushthetiles
backandforthinadirectionperpendiculartotrowel
lines, to collapse the mortar ridges and to help achieve
maximumcoverage.Ensurepropercontactbetween
mortar, tile and substrate by periodically lifting a few
tilestocheckforacceptablecoverage.
6. Removeexcessmortarfromthejointareassothatat
least2/3ofthetiledepthisavailableforgrouting(see
ANSIA108.10guidelines).
