Assembly Instructions
Japanese House #3
B15-JP-004
Please read these instructions fully before starting construction.
PVA or equivalent glue will be required to stick sections together.
Sand paper can be used to gently clean any joints.
A sharp modelling knife will be required to remove sections from the sprue. Please use knives with due care
and remember to cut away from yourself at all times.
During the construction of this model, you may find it convenient to use pegs / elastic bands to hold pieces in
place while you allow glue to dry.
Painting
We recommend painting portions of this kit BEFORE they are removed from the sprue as this makes final
assembly much easier. For details, please see the section at the end of these instructions.
Thatched Roof
Please see our separate instruction guide for creating a thatched roof.
Assembly
Take the floor and under-base from the sprue.
Glue the underbase to the underside of the floor as
shown above. Allow to dry.
Take the three front walls.
Attach these to the floor with the etched detail
facing outwards (see pic).
Take the other three walls.
Glue them into position.
Carefully remove the three front frames from the
sprue.
Starting with the wide doorway, glue them to the
model as shown above.
Take the rest of the frames.
Glue them into position.
Take the pieces for the veranda supports from the
sprue.
Glue the corner post together, ensuring that its
notches point in opposite directions (as shown
above.)
Glue the crossbeams into place the longer lug
goes into the wall, the shorter one into the corner
post.
Take the doors.
Attach the doors, positioning them as desired.
The roof pieces.
Glue one side of the roof to the end pieces. The
etched detail on the end pieces should face
outwards.
Then attach the other side of the roof.
Add the roof outer frames.
The ridge protector is formed from the pieces
shown above.
Carefully attach the supports to one side of the
ridge protector, then add the other side.
Glue the other side into place.
Add your thatched roof (see our separate guide on how to do this) and it has dried, glue the ridge
protector into position.
Painting
We recommend painting the walls before assembling the kit as it makes the assembly much easier.
The white panels were painted with model paints. You don’t need to be too careful about staying in the lines as
the frames will cover any errors.
If you wish, the wooden panel sections can be stained with wood stain / inks as desired.
The frames were left untouched (i.e. their natural colour)
The front walls
The front walls with fraes attached.
