Using your juicer
Instruction booklet
Carlton J2000 IB.qxd 24/05/2004 09:21 Page 1
When using your juicer, especially with children
present, basic safety precautions should always be
followed including the following:
Before you switch on
Read all instructions carefully before using your juicer.
Check that the voltage range given on the juicer
rating label corresponds with that of your mains
supply.
Keep children away from your juicer when it is in
use.
This juicer is suitable for normal household use
only and not for commercial use.
Use your juicer on a level work surface only.
Do not operate your juicer with a damaged cord
or plug or after it has malfunctioned or has been
dropped or damaged. Return your juicer for
examination, adjustments, or repair.
During operation
Do not hold your juicer at an angle while it is
working.
Use only the pusher to push food into the filling shaft.
Never put your fingers in the filling shaft.
Never open the cover before the motor has
stopped. Never immerse the motor base in water;
wipe with a camp cloth to clean it.
General safety
Unplug your juicer when not in use and whenever
it is cleaned or moved.
To disconnect your juicer, switch off, grip plug and
pull from wall outlet. Never yank the cord.
Repairs on electrical juicers must only be done by
authorized service personnel. Faulty, unqualified
repair work may cause accidents or injury to the
user.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced
by the manufacturer or its service agent or a
similarly qualified person in order to avoid a
hazard.
If the power cable is damaged it must be repaired
by a qualified repairer.
Important
Your juicer can only be switched on when
both the cover and the securing clips have
been fully locked into position.

Hints on juice preparation
Buy the freshest fruits and vegetables available.
Fruits and vegetables contain valuable vitamins
and minerals which deteriorate when they come
into contact with oxygen or light. Drink juice soon
after it has been extracted.
If it is necessary to store juice for a few hours,
place it in the refrigerator using china or glass
container. Adding the juice of a lemon will help to
preserve it.
You can use the pulp for other dishes (jams,
compotes, etc.).
When fruits are very juicy (melons, watermelons,
etc.), insert them slowly to get the most juice out of
the fruit.
When extracting juice from very ripe fruits, the
resulting liquid can be quite thick. In such cases, it
is necessary to process more slowly so that the
juice can run off more easily and to avoid
blockages.
Preparing fruits or vegetables
Wash or peel the fruit of vegetables you want to
process.
Process seed fruit (such as apples, pears) with
peels and cores.
Fruits and vegetables with thick peels (e.g, citrus
fruits, melons, kiwis) must be peeled first.
Grapes should be processed only after separation
from the bunch.
For leafy vegetables (e.g, cabbage, spinach and
herbs) roll the leaves together tightly.
Cut fruits and vegetables into pieces that will fit
into the filling shaft.
Do not use very stringy fruits and vegetables (e.g,
rhubarb) in your juicer.

Extracting juice
Extracting juice
Note
The amount of juice you
extract depends on the
nature of the fruits and
vegetable. When
processing berries, the
quantity of juice will be
smaller because of their
high amount of pectin,
(pectin is a natural
gelatin). Special berry
presses or steam presses
are better suited to that
type of fruit.

Cleaning
Always unplug your juicer first before cleaning!
Never immerse the motor base (1) in water, clean
it with a damp cloth.
All other parts can be washed under the tap,
running water is the best cleaning method.
The cutter/strainer teeth are sharp. Handle
carefully. Rinse, dry, and reassemble for storage.
The plastic parts may be stained when processing
foods with a high pigment content.(e.g, carrots).
Use vegetable oil to remove these stains.
Caution: do not clean any parts of your juicer in a
dishwasher.
