Installation
Installing SIM card, memory card and battery
Your phone supports two SIM cards. This enables you
to use cards from two different networks and/or
countries.
1 Switch the phone off.
2 Remove the battery cover by
pressing on it in the area
below the SOS key, slide it
down and take it off.
3 If there is already a battery
inside, remove it.
4 Slide the SIM card with the
golden contacts facing down
in the moulded SIM card
holder. The SIM card must be
located under the metal
retaining bar to be in the
correct position.
5 To expand the internal storage memory, you can
insert a microSD memory card (max. 32 GB / not

included in the delivery). Insert the memory card
into the slot until it stops as illustrated.
6 Insert the battery. The golden contacts on the
battery must face towards the bottom right. Press
lightly on the top end of the battery until it snaps into
place.
7 Replace the battery cover on the back of the phone
and shift it upwards until it clicks into place.

The “Roaming” symbol will appear if the phone
switches to an alternate network provider. This
may occur for example when entering another
country. The Roaming facility depends on your
network provider. Call your network provider if you
have any queries regarding this service.
Entering text
When entering text (e. g. phonebook or SMS) use the #
key to toggle between different input methods (icon in
the upper left corner of the display). The different
languages are abbreviated by two characters (DE or de
= german, IT or it = italian, FR or fr = french etc).
- Smart text input eZi:
Uppercase: ABC (without special characters),
lowercase: abc (without special characters),
Uppercase: eZiDE (german), lowercase: eZide
(german).
- Plain text input:
Uppercase : ABC or DE, lowercase: abc or de,
numbers: 123.
If Smart input is turned on, you only need to press the
key corresponding to the letter once. Do not let
yourself be confused by the fact that the display shows
a completely wrong word. In some cases, the phone
automatically completes your entry. If there are
several possibilities, you can select the desired word

with the / keys and accept with Select or the key
"0" (= space).
To temporarily switch from Smart input to Plain input
while maintaining the selected language, press the
key for approx. 3 s.
To enter a number, press and hold the corresponding
number key for approx. 3 s.
Important: The availability of the language-specific
special characters always requires the correct
language setting.
The preferred input method, which is preset when
entering texts, can be selected in the Settings - Phone
settings menu (eZixx is displayed here as Smart-xx).
First use / switching on the phone
1 Hold the end call key on the telephone for
approx. 3 seconds to turn it on/off.
2 Use the navigation key or to select a language
from the list and press OK (left softkey).
3 Enter the SIM PIN code and press OK (left
softkey).
Delete with Delete (right softkey).

Setting date and time
1 Press Menu, scroll to Settings and press OK.
2 Select Phone settings and press OK.
3 Select Time and date and press OK.
4 Select Set time/date and press OK.
5 Enter the time and press .
6 Enter the date (year/month/day) and press OK.
Note: In this menu, you can also select a home
city as well as the date format and the time format.
Making a call/taking a call
Making a call
1 In standby mode, input phone number including
the area code.
2 Press .
3 Press to end the call.
During a call, you can use Optio.. to hold or end the
current call, establish a second call, mute the
microphone, etc.
Taking a call
1 Press .

Handsfree
1 Whilst in a call: press H-Free (right softkey).
2 Deactivating: press H-Held (right softkey).
Redial
1 In standby: press .
2 Select an entry, Optio.. -> Call -> Select.
Phonebook
Add new contact in normal phonebook
1 In standby:
Press Names
or
press Menu, select Phonebook and press OK.
2 Select Normal PhoneBook and press OK.
3 Press Optio.., select Add new contact and press
Select.
4 Select the location (phone or SIM) and press OK.
5 Enter name and press .
6 Enter the telephone number and press .
If you store the contact in the telephone, you can
also enter an email address, select a picture for
the caller or an individual caller ring tone).
7 Press Optio.., select Save and press Select.
8 Press to return to standby.
Tip: Always save the telephone numbers in
international format with a + (long press on the

key) in front of the country code.
Example for UK:
Phone number 0123456 +44 123456.
Add new contact in the picture phonebook
1 In standby:
Press Names
or
press Menu, select Phonebook and press OK.
2 Select Picture PhoneBook and press OK.
3 Use the navigation key to select an entry and press
Add.
4 Enter name and press .
5 Enter the telephone number and press .
6 As a caller picture, you can take a picture directly
with the camera or select a picture from a file.
Select Picture and press OK, take a photo (press
the center of the navigation key to take the photo)
or
Select From file and press OK, select a picture
and press OK.
7 Press Optio.., select Save and press Select.
8 Press to return to standby.
Tip: Always save the telephone numbers in
international format with a + (long press on the
key) in front of the country code.

Calling from the phonebook
1 In standby: press Names.
2 Select the type of phonebook and press OK.
3 Select an entry, Optio.. -> Call -> Select.
Setting speed dial numbers
1 In standby: press Names.
2 Select Normal PhoneBook and press OK.
3 Press Optio.., select Phonebook settings and
press Select.
4 Select Speed dial and press OK.
5 Select Status and activate the function if
necessary.
6 Select Set numbers and press OK.
7 Select a digit key and press Edit.
8 Select an entry and press OK.
To dial with speed dialing, press and hold the
respective button in idle status.
More options
In the normal phonebook you have with Optio.. more
options such as Copy, Move, Delete, Add to the
blacklist, Set up caller groups, and more.

Messages
Writing and sending SMS
1 In standby: press Menu, select Messages and
press OK.
2 Select Write message and press OK.
3 Enter the text.
Press the -key to display symbols, use the
navigation key to select a symbol and press OK.
Press the #-key to change the input method.
Note: As soon as you add a picture, a sound or a
video with Optio.., the SMS automatically becomes
an MMS (multimedia message).
If necessary, ask your network operator if your
SIM card supports this message and what settings
are required.
4 Press Optio.., select Send to, enter the telephone
number or select an entry from the phonebook and
press OK.
5 Press Optio.., select Send and press Select.
Note: press Optio.. to access further options.

Viewing a SMS/MMS
1 In standby: press Menu, select Messages and
press OK.
2 Select Inbox and press OK.
3 Select an entry and press Optio.. -> View.
Further options:
- Reply: Enter your message and send to the
sender.
- Call sender: To call the sender.
- Forward: To forward message to other
recipients.
- Delete: Delete the message.
- Add to Calendar: Create an entry in the
calendar.
- Advanced:
- Use number: dial the number, save it in the
phonebook or send a SMS/MMS to this
number.
- Use URL/Email/USSD: if the SMS contains an
URL, an Email address or a USSD, you can use
it (depending on your provider/data account
etc.).
- Copy/Move to phone/to SIM/to archive:
You can copy or move the message from the
phone to the SIM card (or vice versa,
depending on the storing location) or to an
archive.

- Edit options: word processing capabilities.
- Details: Info about sender, time of reception,
type and storage location.
Message settings
1 In standby: press Menu, select Messages and
press OK.
2 Select Message settings and press OK.
3 Select Text message (SMS), Multimedia
message (MMS) or Service message and press
OK.
- Text message
- SIM: Among other things, settings for the
phone number of the SMS center (is taken
from the SIM card and should only be
changed after consultation with your provider)
as well as changing / entering the phone
number for the voicemail server, number of
stored SMS, save sent messages, selection of
the location for storing SMS etc.
- Multimedia message
- Management of the data account and basic
settings for MMS.
- Service message
- Settings for service messages.

Call center
1 In standby: press Menu, select Call center and
press OK.
2 Select the desired list and press OK to check the
calls (press Optio.. for select calling back, sending
a SMS/MMS to the caller or view details etc.)
or
Select Delete call logs to delete all entries, select
Call timers to check the duration of the calls
made or select Text msg. counter to view the
number of received and sent messages.

Multimedia
1 In standby: press Menu, select Multimedia and
press OK.
2 To choose from:
- Camera: Press the center of the navigation
key to take a picture or record a video.
Set the zoom with / .
The left softkey gives you extensive setting
options. Among other things, you can also
switch to the Video recorder here.
- Image viewer: With Optio.. you can, for
example, view photos, transfer an image via
Bluetooth or send via MMS, use as wallpaper,
rename, delete or view image information etc.
- Video player: Playback of video files.
With Optio.. you can, for example, start the
playback, send the video, rename, delete etc.
- Photo editor: Image editor.
- Audio player: Playback of audio files. Press
to start and to pause. Stop with . Skip forward
and backward between the individual titles with
/ . Volume adjustment with the side volume
buttons.
Use Optio.. for example to create a music
playlist with different settings.

- Sound recorder: You can record sounds using
the phone's microphone. Start and pause
recording with , stop with .
Optio.. allow you to access further setting
options.
The SOS function
IMPORTANT!
Always inform recipients in the emergency number list
that they are listed as your emergency contacts.
CAUTION: When an emergency call is activated the
phone is pre-set to handsfree mode. Do not hold the
device near your ear when the handsfree mode is in
use, because the volume may be extremely loud.
Using the emergency call button, you can easily call
preset numbers. You can register up to 5 personal
phone numbers for automatic periodic dialling or an
emergency phone number for an emergency call
centre.
1 In standby: press Menu, select SOS and press OK.
2 To choose from:
- SOS Mode setting: Select whether you want to
enter up to 5 individual emergency numbers or
the number of an emergency call center. When

set to Off, the emergency call function is
deactivated.
- Set SOS number: Enter up to 5 emergency
numbers that you can select from the
phonebook or enter freely.
- Call center number: Enter the number of an
emergency call center.
- Set outgoing voice MSG: Setting the voice
message that the receiver of an emergency call
will hear. Select the existing Default message or
Custom if you want to send a message that you
have spoken yourself. To use this setting, you
must first record a voice message. Select
Record, press , speak your message and
press Stop. Save the audio file. Play allows you
to control your recording and Select to activate
this recording as an emergency message.
Important note: Please mention explicitly in
your personal emergency message, that the
called party will have to press key “0“ to be able
to speak with you. If not, the loop continues.
This prevents the emergency loop from
terminating, when, for example, an answering
machine takes your emergency call.

Emergency call procedure
Press the emergency call button on the back of the
device for approx. 2-3 seconds. When the automatic
SOS call starts you will hear a siren tone.
When “Set 5 numbers“ is set:
The first phone number will be dialled.
If the first phone number will not answer the next
phone number will be dialled and so on. All phone
numbers (max. 5) will be called one by one
subsequently. If you have only set one phone
number, the phone will only call that number
cyclically. This procedure will be repeated as long
as the phone’s battery is not empty.
The procedure stops, as soon as the first person
answers. The emergency voice message will be
played. If the called party press key “0“ within 10
seconds after your recorded voice playing ended,
hands free mode will be activated at your side and
you can talk to the called person directly.
Important note: The emergency loop continues even
after an answered emergency call, until you cancel the
emergency (press emergency call button again).
Cancel the emergency call function
Press the emergency call button again.

Settings

In standby: press
Menu
, select Settings and press
OK.
2 To choose from:
- Boost setting: Select On to generally turn the
amplification on or Off to turn off amplification
generally.
If you have generally switched off the
amplification here, you can amplify the earphone
volume with the boost button in the call at any
time.
- Direct number: You can assign the direct call
keys M1, M2 and M3 to your favorite numbers.
Select a direct call key and enter the phone
number.
- Profiles: Select one of the displayed profiles
(ring tone, ringer volume, alert tones, etc.) and
use Optio.. to activate, adjust or reset to the
factory settings.
Example: Editing a profile
- Select a profile and press Optio...
- Select Customize and press Select.
- Alert type: Select with / whether an in-
coming call should be signalled by Ring
only, Vib. only, Vib. and ring or Vib. then
ring (Vib. = vibration).
