SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS
Congratulations and thank you for purchasing the ThunderBat XF KIT. Before com-
pleting the nal assembly of your new airplane, please carefully read these instructions
in their entirety. These instructions assume you are already an RC pilot with experience
ying and building 3ch aircraft at a minimum. If this is not the case, we highly
recommend you get experienced help. Contact the Academy of Model Aeronautics
(AMA), which has more than 2,500 chartered clubs across the USA with instructor and
newcomer training programs.

Before beginning assembly read the instructions thoroughly to give an understanding
of the sequence of steps and a general awareness of the recommended assembly proce-
dures.
By following these instructions carefully and referring to the corresponding pictures, the
assembly of your model will be both enjoyable and rewarding.
If you are not an experienced R/C pilot, plan to have a fully competent pilot check your
completed model and help you with your rst ights. Even though we have tried to
provide you with a very thorough instruction manual, R/C models are rather complicated
and an experienced modeler can quickly check over your model to help make sure your
rst ights are successful.
Before you begin check the entire contents of your kit with the list & photo below
to make sure that no parts are missing or damaged.. Please check all parts before
construction, as we cannot exchange components which you have already worked on. If
you nd that any of the parts are either missing or damaged, please contact ParkFlyRC
Customer Service immediately for replacements.

INTRODUCTION
EXAMINE YOUR KIT CAREFULLY!
When routing wires underneath, spread the wires and run them along the sides to avoid
deformation of the motor shroud which must hold a very close clearance with the 28mm
motor recommended. (Outrunner propulsion shown)
INSTALLING THE TAIL
If the joint surfaces don’t make good contact with the wing, remove any rough edges and
sand them back slightly until they do. Also check the horizontal stab joints for t. Spray
activator on all four joint surfaces and allow it to air dry. Apply CA to the recesses
in each joint, and press the vertical stabs into place rst followed with the horizontal
stab. Immediately align them carefully and tape or pin them in position until the glue
has set. If using hot glue, apply a small llet along the inside joints (closest to the
motor pad) for extra strength.
CONTROL HORNS AND PUSH RODS
Place a drop of glue on each of the control horn footprint areas before installing the
control horns as shown below. Note the push rod holes should be directly over the hinge
line. Clip the excess from the locking tabs. Set all travels for +-10mm from center.

ADDITIONAL ITEMS REQUIRED
Propulsion1: 28mm Outrunner matched with a 6” Prop for 2-3cell LiPo
Propulsion2: 20-28mm Inrunner matched with a 4” Prop for 2-3cell LiPo
Radio: Minimum 3 channel
Servos: 2 x (HITEC HS-55 or equiv) for ailerons and elevator
Gyro: Optional(GWS PG-03, Esky EK2-0704 or equiv)
Servo Extension 15”: one required
Aileron Y-cable: one required, 2” minimum length
Adhesive: Use any type of medium or thick cyano-acrylate adhesive. Do not use
styrofoam cyano. Alternately, you may use a low temperature, foam safe hot glue.
Tools: Scissors, hobby knife, 3/32” & 5/32” diameter drill
INSTALLING THE SERVOS
Set the servos to center from the transmitter, or use a servo tester. Fit the output arms
on the servos at 90˚ to the case sides. If using CA glue, wrap adhesive tape around
each servo, or shrink a heat-shrink sleeve around the case. This helps prevent adhesive
from entering the servo. Spray activator on the prepared servo and allow it to air-dry.
Apply thick cyano to the servo recess only where the servo is protected by the tape or
shrink sleeve. Install the elevator and aileron servos as shown. Tape servo fairings in
place to cover each aileron servo.
INSTALLING THE MOTOR MOUNT
Align the motor mount straight and true with the back at surface of the wing. View
from top, side and rear to conrm the mount is straight and true from each view. Fix
its position and drill 1/8” pilot through holes using the bracket holes as a template. Then
remove the bracket and widen the holes with a 5/32” drill through.
Insert the mating retainer from the underside with the longer stand-offs piercing the
thickest portion of the wing. If you wish to route the motor wires through and
underneath the bracket, you must install the motor before screwing the top bracket down.

DECALS & FLYING PERFORMANCE
Cut out each decal with no more than a 1/4” border margin. Apply the decals rst while
the surfaces are clean. Start with the fuselage nose and turtle deck decals and then
the tail set and under wing decals. This will help prepare you for the largest and most
difcult wing decal set which is best left for last.
Good adhesion on the top wing surface is important for reliable performance. If the
cleanliness of the wing top may have been compromised, wipe rst with rubbing alcohol.
When ready, place the inside corner near the leading star, tangent with the corner of
the molded turtle deck channel (see close-up photo). Then proceed outward afxing
the leading edge of the wing decal approximately 1” behind the wing’s leading edge.
Placement closer to the leading edge may increase the chance of delamination in ight,
(Inspect the leading edge frequently, especially after rough landings.) Once the leading
edge is set, the red trailer stripes will fall into place. After satised with the placement,
clear the servo arm wells using a sharp cutting knife and trim any excess on the trailing
edge of the wing or on the hinge line.
CLEARING WIRE PASSAGES
Open passage ways to allow entry of the aileron servo wires and receiver antenna into
the central fuselage cavities. (Note: Some kits may ship with them already cut.)
