Rinnai RWMMS01 is a motion sensor that works with the Rinnai Control-R™ Module to operate your Rinnai Tankless Water Heater recirculation system. It detects motion up to 39 feet away and activates the recirculation system, providing you with hot water quickly and efficiently. The sensor can be paired with the Control-R™ Module in just a few minutes and is easy to install on a wall near your water fixture. With its long battery life of up to 1.5 years, you can enjoy the convenience of hot water on demand without having to worry about replacing batteries frequently.

1. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw located on the center of the Moon Sensor. Remove the front cover.

2. Insert the baery.

 Prior to installaon, determine the best locaon for the Moon Sensor. Rinnai recommends installing the Moon Sensor near

a water xture that will have a great deal of use. A site survey is recommended prior to installaon.

 The Moon Sensor detects full body movement up to 39 feet and limb movement up to 16 feet away from the sensor. The

sensing angle is 110°.

 The Moon Sensor should be corner mounted on a wall between 6 to 9 feet above oor level and in an area with a clear line

of sight to the space.

 The Moon Sensor provides a wireless transmission of data to Rinnai’s Control-R™ Module. The Control-R™ Module must be

installed and funconing properly before installing the Moon Sensor. The Moon Sensor must not be mounted behind any

obstrucng objects that could harm the wireless signal strength.

 Make sure to install the Moon Sensor in the correct orientaon (see below):

This document provides instrucons on installing the Rinnai Control-R™ Moon Sensor.

The Control-R™ Moon Sensor works with the Control-R™ Module to operate the Rinnai Tankless Water Heater recirculaon

system. The Moon Sensor mounts near the point of use (such as a kitchen faucet or bathroom sink) and acvates the recirculaon

system with the detecon of moon. The recirculaon system will deacvate aer ve minutes from iniaon or when the water

has reached the set temperature. The Moon Sensor is only compable with Rinnai Tankless Water Heaters featuring Rinnai

Circ-Logic™. Follow all instrucons carefully to ensure proper performance.

NOTE: If the recirculang pump has recently been acve and the recirculaon loop is sll warm, there may be a delay in pump

acvaon. To minimize any delay in pump acvaon, set the Rinnai Tankless Water Heater to Comfort Mode. Refer to the

“Recirculaon Mode” secon in the Tankless Water Heater Installaon and Operaon Manual for more informaon on Comfort

Mode.

3. Pair the Moon Sensor with the Control-R™ Module (called Pairing Mode) by following the steps below.

IMPORTANT: You have 5 minutes to pair the Motion Sensor with the Control-R™ Module before Pairing Mode times out. If

Pairing Mode times out, you must repeat the steps below.

4. Replace the Moon Sensor front cover by ghtening the screw.

5. Select the Moon Sensor locaon. Read the Installaon Requirements secon above prior

to selecng a locaon.

6. Install the wall mount bracket in the selected locaon using the two supplied screws. Next,

install the posioning joint into the wall mount bracket.

Restore Factory Sengs

To restore the Moon Sensor sengs to a fresh state:

1. Remove the Moon Sensor baery.

2. Press and hold the “Connect” buon on the Moon Sensor PCB while reinserng the baery.

3. When the baery is inserted, release the “Connect” buon. The Moon Sensor LED will turn on.

4. When the Moon Sensor resets successfully, the LED will turn o.

5. The LED will begin to ash every 1 second to show the Moon Sensor is in an idle state and is

ready to be joined to a network.

 On the Control-R™ Module, press and hold down the “Connect” button until the

LED turns green. Then, release the button.

 The Moon Sensor LED light ashes once every 5 seconds to indicate the Moon

Sensor is not paired with the Control-R™ Module. To enter Pairing Mode, press

and hold the “Connect” buon on the Motion Sensor PCB unl the LED

double-ashes. Then, release the buon.

 When the Motion Sensor successfully pairs with the Control-R™ Module, the

Motion Sensor LED will remain on for approximately 5 seconds and then turn o.

The Control-R™ Module LED ashes green and then returns to the previous mode

(Blue = connected to Internet; Red = not connected to Internet). A small delay is

normal when the module is ashing green and returning to its original mode.

 The Motion Sensor is now paired with the Control-R™ Module.

7. Slide the Moon Sensor down onto the wall mount assembly ensuring the sensor is in the correct orientaon.

8. Control-R™ Moon Sensor pairing and installaon is complete.
