Maxim KitchenPro MKPK1S is a 1L stainless steel cordless kettle with a variety of features that make it a convenient and safe choice for your kitchen. With its 1850W – 2200W of power, this kettle boils water quickly and efficiently.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Read and follow all the instructions in this “Use and Care” even if you feel you are familiar

with the product, and find a place to keep it handy for future reference.

Your attention is drawn particularly to the sections concerning “IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS”,

“FOR YOUR SAFETY”, and the “WARRANTY” statements.

For your convenience, record the complete model number (located on the product

identification plate) and the date you received the product, together with your proof of

purchase and attached to the warranty and service information. Retain in the event that

warranty service is required.

NOTE: The rating of this product (as marked on the product identification plate) is based on

specific loading tests. Normal use or the use of other recommended attachments may draw

significantly less power.

Carefully unpack the unit and remove all packaging materials. Wipe down the outside of the

kettle and rinse the inside with water. It is recommended that you boil the kettle once and

discard the water before first use.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using any electrically powered product, basic safety precautions should always

be followed, including the following:

WARNING - to reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock or injury to persons or property:

• Always operate the product from a power source of the same voltage, frequency and

rating as indicated on the product identification plate.

• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced

physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless

they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a

person responsible for their safety.

• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

• Do not operate any product with a damaged cord or plug, or after the product

malfunctions, or is dropped or appears damaged in any way. Return the complete product

to the place of purchase for inspection, repair or replacement.

• Do not twist, kink or wrap the power cord around the appliance, as this may cause the

insulation to weaken and split particularly where it enters the unit.

• To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not immerse or expose the product controls or

flexible cord to rain, moisture or any liquid other than those necessary for correct

operation of the product.

• This product should not be used in the immediate vicinity of water, such as bathtub,

washbowls, swimming pool etc. where the likelihood of immersion or splashing could

occur.

• Do not let the cord hang over edge of table or bench, or touch hot surfaces, including the

stove.

• Switch off and unplug from outlet when not in use, before assembling or disassembling

parts and before cleaning. Remove by grasping the plug - do not pull on the cord.

• Do not use the appliance for other than its intended use.

• Do not leave the appliance unattended or move it when switched on. Boiling water will

scald and may be ejected, if overfilled.

• Do not place objects on the product or allow objects to obstruct the inlet or outlet

openings, or operate in close proximity to walls or curtains, etc.

• Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.

• This product is intended for normal domestic/household use and similar applications only,

such as:

- staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;

- farm houses;

- by clients in hotel, motels and other residential type environments;

- bed and breakfast type environments

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

• Before using your kettle

It is recommended that you boil a full kettle twice without any additives and discard the

water before first use. The kettle should always be unplugged when filling or adding water.

• Using your kettle

1. Always remove the kettle from the power base before filling.

2. Lift the lid.

3. Fill the kettle between the MIN and MAX marks on the water level indicator with cold

water.

4. Close the lid and place the kettle back on the power base. Make sure the appliance on

a flat surface and the lid is securely fitted on the kettle before boiling.

5. Press the button down gently to open the lid.

6. Check the Electrical connection:

- Check whether the electrical voltage that you intend to use is the same as that of the

machine. Details are to be found on the rating label (silver sticker) on the base.

- Only connect the appliance to a property installed 220-240Vac ~50/60Hz safety

socket.

7. Plug the power base into the power outlet and switch on at the mains.

8. To start boiling, press the power On/OFF switch to the down position.

9. The power indicator will illuminate and the kettle will start to boil. NOTE: NEVER

REMOVE THE LID DURING BOILING.

10. When the water has boiled, the kettle will switch off automatically and the power

indicator will extinguish. CAUTION: DO NOT PRESS UP THE LID WHEN POURING.

11. You can stop the boiling process at any time by pressing the switch to the OFF position.

12. After the kettle has switched off automatically, there may be a short delay before it can

be re-boiled. This is usually no more than 20 seconds.

13. This kettle is equipped with a safety cut out; protecting the appliance from damage in

case of inappropriate use. Should the appliance be accidentally operated without water

or if all the water has evaporated, the safety cut out will automatically switch off the

heating element.

14. In such a case, remove the plug from the wall socket immediately and wait 15 minutes

for the cut-out to reset before refilling with cold water and boiling.

15. Disconnect the unit from the mains electric supply when not in use.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

1. Unplug from the power outlet, clean the body of the kettle with a damp cloth (to remove

stubborn spots, wipe the surface with a cloth moistened in soapy water of a mild non-

abrasive cleaner) then dry thoroughly.

2. Do not use solvents or harsh abrasives as these will damage the body of the kettle.

Commercially available kettle cleaners are recommended and are available at

supermarkets.

WARNING: Never immerse the kettle, switch area or cord in water, or allow moisture

to come into contact with these parts.

From time to time, depending on the nature of your water supply, lime scale deposits can

naturally form and adhere to the heating element. The amount of lime scale deposits largely

depends on the water hardness in your area and the frequency in which the kettle is used.

Lime scale is not harmful to your health but if poured into your beverage it can give a

powdery taste to your drink. The kettle should be de-scaled periodically as indicated below:

1. Fill the kettle up to the max level with a mixture of one part ordinary vinegar and two

parts water. Switch the kettle on and wait for it to automatically switch off.

2. Let the water/vinegar mixture remain in the kettle overnight.

3. Discard the mixture the next morning and re-fill the kettle to the max level with clean

water and boil again.

4. Discard this boiled water to remove any remaining lime scale and/or vinegar mixture.

5. Rinse the inside of your kettle with clean water. Your kettle is now ready for normal use.

SERVICE

1. Always check full operation as detailed above before returning any unit as faulty.

2. Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or if the unit malfunctions or

is damaged in any way. Return the complete appliance to the place of purchase,

together with your proof of purchase for in-warranty replacement, or inspection and

repair.

3. This appliance contains no internal user serviceable parts.

4. In some products, the replacement of the power cord by the user is not intended.

Special tools are required to replace the cord. Return the complete appliance to the

place of purchase for in-warranty replacement, or inspection and repair.
