Training
Read,understand,andfollowallinstructionsonthe
machineandinthemanual(s)beforeoperatingthis
machine.Bethoroughlyfamiliarwiththecontrolsand
theproperuseofthemachine.Knowhowtostopthe
machineanddisengagethecontrolsquickly.
Neverallowchildrentooperatethemachine.Neverallow
adultstooperatethemachinewithoutproperinstruction.
Keeptheareaofoperationclearofallpersons,particularly
smallchildren.
Exercisecautiontoavoidslippingorfalling.
Preparation
Thoroughlyinspecttheareawherethemachineistobe
usedandremovealldoormats,sleds,boards,wires,and
otherforeignobjects.
Donotoperatethemachinewithoutwearingadequate
wintergarments.Avoidloosettingclothingthatcanget
caughtinmovingparts.Wearslip-resistant,substantial

footwearandeyeprotection.Tiebacklonghair.Donot

Neverattempttomakeanyadjustmentswhiletheengine
isrunning(exceptwhenspecicallyrecommendedby
manufacturer).
Lettheengineandmachineadjusttooutdoor
temperaturesbeforestartingtoclearthesnow .
MaintenanceandStorage
Checkfastenersatfrequentintervalsforpropertightness
tobesuretheequipmentisinsafeworkingcondition.
Neverstorethemachinewithfuelinthefueltankinsidea
buildingwhereignitionsourcesarepresent,suchashot
waterheaters,spaceheaters,orclothesdryers.Allowthe
enginetocoolbeforestoringinanyenclosure.
AlwaysrefertotheOperator’sManualforimportantdetails
ifthesnowthroweristobestoredforanextendedperiod.
Maintainorreplacesafetyandinstructionlabels,as
necessary.
Runthemachineafewminutesafterthrowingsnowto
preventfreeze-upoftheauger/impeller.

Therotatingauger/impellerorrotorbladescancutoff
orinjurengersorhands.Stayintheoperator’sposition

otherpartofyourbodyorclothingawayfromconcealed,
moving,orrotatingparts.
Beforeleavingtheoperator’sposition,adjusting,cleaning,
repairing,andinspectingthesnowthrower,andbefore
uncloggingthedischargechute,stoptheengine,remove
thekey,andwaitforallmovingpartstostop.Also,cycle
theauxiliaryhydraulicsleveranddisconnectthehydraulic
lines.
Useastick,notyourhandstoremoveobstructionsfrom
thedischargechute.

Ifashield,safetydevice,ordecalisdamaged,illegible,or

Performonlythosemaintenanceinstructionsdescribed
inthismanual.Beforeperforminganymaintenance,
service,oradjustment,stoptheengine,removethekey,
cycletheauxiliaryhydraulicslever,anddisconnectthe

1.Starttheengineandlowertheattachmenttothe
groundorontoatrailer,thenshutofftheengine.
2.Removethechute-controlbracketasfollows:
On200/300andTX1000seriestractionunits,
removetheknobs,washer,andhandleclampfrom
thechute-controlbracketandremovethebracket.
OnTXseriestractionunits,removetheknobsand
retainingplatefromthechute-controlbracketand
removethebracket.
3.Installthefasteninghardwareonthechute-control
bracketforsafekeeping.
4.On200/300seriestractionunits,removethe
chute-controlcablefromthecableguide.
5.Disconnectthehydrauliclinesandremovethe
snowthrowerfromthemountplate.Refertothe
Operator’sManualforyourtractionunitforinstructions.
OperatingTips
Alwaysusefullthrottle(maximumenginespeed).
Ifyourtractionunithasaspeedselector,usetheslow
position(turtle).
Ifyourtractionunithasaowdivider,setitasappropriate
forthesnowconditions(i.e.,varythesettingfrom10
o’clockforheavysnowto12o’clockforlightersnow).
Thedischargechutecanberotated180°sidetoside.The
directioniscontrolledbyturningthechute-controlcrank
inthechute-controlbracket.
Thechutedeector,ontopofthedischargechute,canbe
movedupanddowntocontroltheheightanddistance
snowisthrown(Figure13).

Removesnowassoonaspossibleafteritfalls.This
producesthebestsnowremovalresults.
Adjusttheskidstomatchthetypeofsurfacebeing
cleaned;refertoAdjustingtheSkids(page14).
Thesnowthrowerisdesignedtocleansnowdowntothe
contactsurface,buttherearetimeswhenthefrontof
thesnowthrowermaytendtorideup.Ifthishappens,
reducetheforwardspeed.
Dischargesnowdownwindwheneverpossibleand
overlapeachpasstoensurecompletesnowremoval.If
wheelsslip,reducetheforwardspeed.
Runthesnowthrowerforafewminutesafterclearing
snowsomovingpartsdonotfreeze.
Donotoverloadthesnowthrowerbyclearingsnowattoo
fastarate.Iftheengineslowsdown,reducetheforward
speedoradjusttheowdivider(whereapplicable)to
supplymorepowertothesnowthrower.
Insomesnowandcoldweatherconditions,somecontrols
andmovingpartsmayfreeze.Therefore,whenany
controlbecomeshardtooperate,shutoffthemachine
andwaitforallmovingpartstostop;thencheckallparts
forfreezeup.Donotuseexcessiveforcewhentrying
tooperatefrozencontrols.Freeallcontrolsandmoving
partsbeforeoperating.
