I. General Information
TEAC and Digital Broadcast Australia highly recommends
that RG6 QUAD SHIELD CABLING and proper crimp
connectors be used when installing this product. This type
of coax cable should run from the aerial directly to the set-top
box where possible.

3. For Your Safety
Allow clear space around the receiver for sufficient ventilation.
Do not cover the receiver or place it on a unit that emits heat.
Use a soft cloth and a mild solution of washing liquid to clean the casing.
Do not connect or modify cables when the receiver is plugged into mains
power.
Do not remove the cover.
Do not allow the unit to be exposed to extreme heat, cold or humid
conditions.
Never allow liquids, spray or other materials to come into contact with the
inside of the product.
4. General Operation of the Receiver
Throughout this manual you will find that the everyday operation of your
receiver is based on a series of user friendly on screen display and menus.
These menus will help you get the most from your set-top box, guiding you from
installation, channel management, viewing to many other functions.
All functions can be carried out using the buttons on the remote controller, and
some of the functions can also be carried out using the buttons on the front
panel.
Please be aware that new software may change the functionality of the receiver.
Should you experience any difficulties with the operation of your unit, please

5. Front Panel
SENSOR: To detect the signal from the remote controller.
ON: The light shows green when the receiver runs normally.
POWER: The light shows red when the receiver is connected to the mains..
ON/OFF: Press to switch between ON and OFF.

RS232 : Connect to a PC for software upgrade
(serial pass-through cable required)
ANT IN: Connect to your outdoor antenna
LOOP OUT: Continues the RF antenna signal to your VCR or TV.
VIDEO: Connect to the TV using RCA jack
L/R-AUDIO: Connect to a TV or other audio device using the RCA cables provided
Y Pb Pr: Connect to a TV or Monitor with Component input..
S/P DIF: Connects to an amplifier or hi-fi system with an optical digital input.
S-VIDEO: Connect to the S-VIDEO jack of the TV or VCR.

Keys specification
: Toggle between Operation and Standby modes
: Temporarily mutes the sound.
TV/RADIO : Press to switch between TV and Radio channels.
AUDIO : When watching a channel, press for audio languages
(if available)
TEXT : Press to switch to teletext mode
0-9 : Enter required numbers to select a channel to watch.
MENU : Press to display the Main Menu on the screen.
: Go back to the previous channel.
INFO : Display more information on the current channel.
FAV: Cycles the favorite channel lists.
EXIT : Press to return to the previous menu or escape from a menu item.
CH/VOL: Move cursor up/down/left/right, Page up / down, Volume +/-
OK : Press to execute the selected item in the menu, or to confirm the desired
value in input mode.
P- / P+ :
Press to page up or down
SUB.T:
Used to display closed captioning on the screen. Note that
captions are not available for every program.
EPG : Press to display EPG (Electronic Program Guide) menu
ASPECT: Use this key to select your television screen format. Continuously
press this button to toggle through the different screen modes.
FREEZE : Press to toggle between Pause and Play of the channel.

8. Installation of STB
This section explains the installation of the digital television receiver (DTR). Refer to the
manuals supplied with the equipment for the installation of outdoor equipment such as
the antenna. When adding new equipment, be sure to refer to the related parts of the
manual for the installation.

Use the
keys to move from one item to another. Press the OK key and
the selected sub menu will display. To escape the menu system at anytime,
press the EXIT or MENU key on the remote controller.

1. Installation
Use keys to select Installation item from Main Menu and press the OK
key. The Installation menu will display on the screen.
1.1 Auto search
While Auto Search window appears on the
screen, system begins to search programs.
During searching, you can see the searched
channels whose relevant parameter and
searching results are shown in the display
window. A bar at the bottom of the screen
reflects the signal strength.
During the searching process, OK key is used to skip the current channel and
EXIT key is used to finish the whole process.
1.2 Manual search (Experienced User Option)
You can set parameters in Manual Search if you
are familiar with relevant parameters. In this
mode, only one channel, whose necessary
parameters are set in Manual Search menu by
hand, can be searched at a time.
MUX: Press
keys to pop up a drop-down
list box where you can select your desired option
by using
keys. Select the desired one and
press OK key, the box disappears and the value
in Freq(kHz) varies your selection.

Freq(KHz): Since the value in this item varies the selection in Mux item, it can
also be modified. You can change this value in this way. Highlight this item,
then press
key to active it. Use keys to select desired location. By
pressing numeric keys or
keys on the RCU, you can change the value of
desired location. After modifying well, press OK key to confirm, or press EXIT
key to cancel.
Mode: By pressing
keys, set this item to
be 2K, 8K or Auto.
Guard: Available options are: 1/4, 1/8, 1/16,
1/32 and Auto. Press
keys to select one of
the available alternatives.
BandWidth: In Australia, this should be set to 7M.
If there are items that you are not familiar with, please set them to default or
AUTO. Once OK key is pressed, corresponding searching window will be
displayed on the screen. During this process, new searched programs will be
listed in two columns labeled with TV or Radio. Two bars reflecting the signal
quality of process will also be displayed.
1.3 Edit Channel (Advanced Users Option)
Select the Edit Channel item in the Install menu and press OK key. Then Edit
Channel menu will be displayed on the screen. From here, new channels can
be added and the existing ones can be changed
or removed. You can use the coloured keys on
the remote:
Add (Red colour key)
Modify (Green colour key)
Delete (Yellow colour key)
Search (Blue colour key)

Add
After pressing the Red colour key on the remote, the Add Channel menu,
which is for setting necessary parameters of the new channel, that will searched
during the AUTO search function.
Freq: Highlight this item, then press
key to
active it. Select desired location. By pressing
numerical keys or
keys on the remote, you
can change the value of desired location. After
modifying, press the OK key to confirm, or press
EXIT key to cancel.
Mode: Select among 2K, 8K and Auto.
Guard: Available options are: 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, and Auto.
Bandwidth: Set bandwidth to 7M for Australia.
Having all above parameters set, press the Exit key. A message asking you for
confirmation will appear. Press OK to Save your settings, otherwise press the
EXIT key.
Delete
This command allows you to delete one or more unwanted channels for the
AUTO search. The selected channel is deleted from the list as soon as the
Yellow key on the remote is pressed.
Modify
First select the channel you want to edit and then press the Green key to
display the Modify Channel menu. The operating methods are the same as
“Add” as described above.
Search
First select the channel you want to search and press the Blue key on the
remote. The Manual Search function will be shown on the screen.

1.4 Search Setting
Select the Search Setting item within the
Installation menu and press the OK key.
Scan Type: For Australia, leave this option on
ALL or FTA.
UHF: Use
keys to select 7M or AUTO.
VHF: Use
keys to select 7M or AUTO.
LCN (LOGICAL CHANNEL NUMBER) : By pressing
keys, select the
option to be ON or OFF. If it is ON, then all the channels will be listed according
to their logical channel number. (A logical channel number is the number set by
the broadcaster.)
1.5 STB Information
In this menu, you can view the following receiver information, including Product,
HW version, SW version and Release date. When contacting TEAC for
service or advise please have your serial number and the above details ready.
2. Program Organize
You can move, delete, set as a favourite any program shown in the Program
Organize window. First use the
keys on the remote to select the program
you want to operate, then execute a command by pressing the corresponding
key on the remote.

Move
After pressing the Red key on the remote, the selected program will be marked
with two parallel arrows. Move the program to where you want to locate by
using
keys and press Red key to set the new location. The mark will
disappear.
Delete
This command allows you to delete one or more
unwanted programs. The selected program will
be marked with “
” symbol after pressing the
Yellow key on the remote. Press the Yellow key
again to remove the cut symbol.
Note: You cannot view the deleted program
unless you perform a AUTO or MANUAL
SEARCH again.
FAV
Use this feature if you want to add several TV programs to a FAV
(FAVOURITES) list.
When you enter the Program Organize menu, the default favorite list will be
shown on the screen as FAV1. By pressing FAV key on the remote, you can
cycle through the favorite list (FAV1….FAV8).
Select the program that you want to add to the FAV by pressing the OK key. The
selected program is shown in the right FAV list. In the same way, you can add
more programs to the desired FAV list.
If you want to cancel one program in FAV list: move cursor to the right side
column and select the desired program to remove and press the OK key.
