HYDRAULIC PALLETTRUCK
THE NUMBERS IN THE FOLLOWING TEXT
CORRESPOND WITH THE PICTURES AT PAGE
51-54
Before using the pallet truck, read these
instructions for use carefully.
TECHNICAL DATA
AREAS OF APPLICATION
The pallet truck is suitable for short goods transport on a
flat and permanent surface such as, for example, in
factories, shops, stations and warehouse floors and has a
load-bearing capacity to a maximum of 2000 kg.
FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY
Safe use of the machine is only possible if you read
the safety instructions and instructions for use fully
and strictly follow the indications described in them.
Do not use the pallet truck if you are not yet familiar
with the machine.
Before using the machine, check whether the pallet
truck is occupationally safe. Before use of the
machine, take the warning signs and the indications
on the pallet truck into proper consideration.
Do not use the pallet truck for transporting persons.
Only use the pallet truck on a permanent and even
surface. Never use the pallet truck on a slanting
surface.
Never exceed the maximum carrying capacity of the
pallet truck.
Before lifting, balance the load properly.
Keep the area under the lifted load free. Keep people
next to the transported goods at a minimum distance
of 0.6 m.
BEFORE USE
UNPACKING
Remove all parts from the packaging. When unpacking
the machine, you will find the following parts in the box:
Main part of the pallet truck
Shaft
Instructions for use
Check all the parts for transport damage. If you establish
damage or if any parts are missing, inform the dealer
where you bought the machine.
ASSEMBLY
Fig. 3, 5
The pallet truck and the shaft are supplied separately in
order to make the delivery easier.
Only shafts and main parts with the same number
fit properly with each other. The numbers are
situated on the assembly surface and protective cardboard of
both parts.
Remove the three bolts (611) from the pressure
frame (D151).
Place the shaft in the pressure frame (D151) and put
the chain (612) and the adjusting bolt (614) through
the holes of the pressure frame (D151) and the pin
(D153).
Push the three bolts back through the shaft and the
pressure frame and tighten them.
Raise the lifting platform (D132) and push the
adjusting bolt (614) through the frontmost groove,
then through the adjusting bolt (615) at the bottom
of the lifting platform.
SET-UP
Fig. 1, 3, 5
The control handle (608) can be placed in three
positions (Fig. 1) as follows:
Lowest position = for lifting the load
Neutral position = for moving the load
Highest position = for lowering the load
These positions were already adjusted exactly in the
factory. Before first using the pallet truck or before
starting work the user must test the three positions
again. If a deviation is found, the positions must be
adjusted as follows:
With the setting at "neutral" and during pumping the
fork can be lifted:
Turn the adjusting nut (615) or the adjusting screw
(D133) clockwise until the forks can no longer be
lifted with the "neutral" setting and during pumping.
With the setting at "neutral" and during pumping the
fork is lowered:
Turn the adjusting nut (615) or the adjusting screw
(D133) anti-clockwise until the forks no longer
lower during pumping.
With the setting "lower" the fork does not lower:
Turn the adjusting nut (615) or the adjusting screw
(D133) clockwise until the forks have lowered in this
position in the correct way. Then set the control
handle in the "neutral position" and test the relevant
function again as described above. Check whether
the adjusting nut (615) and the adjusting screw
(D133) have been adjusted properly.
CHECK
Before first using the pallet truck and before every job
respectively, it must be checked whether the pallet truck
is occupationally safe. Check whether all the screws are
fastened properly and the wheels move properly.

Then pump the pallet truck without a load to its highest
position and then lower it again, thus testing the lifting
function. The pallet truck may only be used when it has
been established that there are no malfunctions.
PUTTING INTO OPERATION
Only use this machine for work which the machine
can actually cope with.
OPERATION
Fig. 2
Before lifting and transporting respectively you must be
sure that the pallet is undamaged and that the load is
equally distributed over the pallet, so that the centre of
gravity lies in the middle of the carrying surface (see Fig. 2).
Lifting
The lever on the shaft must be in the lowest position
("lift"). Then you make a pumping movement with
the shaft until the truck has reached the desired
lifting height.
Transport
During transport the lever must be in the neutral
position ("neutral").
Lowering
In order to lower a load, you pull the lever upwards
("lower").
After finishing transport the load must be unloaded.
MAINTENANCE
Use oil which is suitable for the existing working
temperatures. For temperatures between -20 and
+45 °C hydraulic oil is recommended.
As a result of transport or another reason, air can
come into the hydraulic oil. The air in the hydraulic
oil must be removed as follows:
Set the lever in the "lower" position and pump the
shaft a few times.
Regularly lubricate and grease all moving parts,
especially the bearings of the wheels as well as the
bearings of the shaft.
Keep a close watch on the seal of the hydraulic unit
and keep up the oil level.
REPAIR OF MALFUNCTIONS
Repair to the pallet truck and adjusting the
overpressure valve may only be carried out by
personnel qualified for this purpose or by a recognized
workplace!
1. The fork cannot be pumped to its maximum
height.
There is not enough hydraulic oil.
Fill up hydraulic oil.
2. The fork cannot be pumped upwards.
There is no more hydraulic oil.
Fill up hydraulic oil.
The hydraulic oil is polluted.
Clean and replace hydraulic oil.
The position of the adjusting nut (615) is too high or
the adjusting screw (D133) has been fastened too
tightly, so that the pump valve continuously remains
open.
Adjust the adjusting nut (615) or the adjusting screw
(D133).
There is air in the hydraulic oil.
Remove the air (see under "Maintenance")
3. The fork will no longer lower.
The piston rod (D147) or the pump casing is
misshapen.
Replace the piston rod or the pump.
The fork has remained for too long in the highest
position, as a result of which the piston rod has
become rusty or blocked.
When the machine is standing still, always place the
fork in the lowest position.
The adjusting nut (615) or the adjusting screw
(D133) are not adjusted properly.
Adjust the adjusting bolt (615) or the adjusting screw
(D133).
4. The fork lowers with a heavy load.
The hydraulic oil is polluted.
Clean, replace hydraulic oil.
Parts of the hydraulic system are damaged.
Check for damaged parts and replace them.
Air has got into the hydraulic oil.
Remove air.
The point of compression in the hydraulic unit is
worn.
Put in a new point of compression.
The adjusting nut (615) or the adjusting screw (D13)
are not adjusted correctly.
Adjust the adjusting nut (615) or the adjusting screw
(D133).
SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS
Keep the instructions for use and any accessories in
the original packaging. In this way you will always
have all the information and parts within reach.
Ferm machines undergo a strict quality control.
Should malfunctioning occur despite this, contact
your Ferm dealer.
•A short description of the defect shortens the time
spent looking for the defect and the repair time.
During the term of guarantee, you must always
present the proof of purchase and guarantee
together with the machine.
In so far as it does not concern a repair under
guarantee, we will always charge you the repair
costs.
If you open the machine yourself, your right to the
guarantee is cancelled.
In order to prevent damage during transport, the
machine must be properly packed or the original
packaging must be used. The guarantee does not
cover transport costs.
