damage to the tool in case of non-observance of the
instructions in this manual.
Carefully read this manual before using the machine.
Make sure that you know how the machine functions and
how to operate it. Maintain the machine in accordance with
the instructions to make sure it functions properly. Keep this
manual and the enclosed documentation with the machine.
KNOW YOUR APPARATUS
Observe the instructions for maintenance to ensure
your apparatus always operates properly. Before
attempting to operate the apparatus, familiarise yourself
with the controls and make sure you know how to stop it
quickly in an emergency. Save this user’s manual and the
other documents supplied with this apparatus for future
reference.
SPECIAL SAFETY RULES
Non-observance of the following instructions can cause
personal injuries and/or damage to the vehicle.
1. Before jacking up the car, make sure the jack is as near
to the wheel to be lifted as possible and as far under
the body or any other point of support as possible.
2. The maximum load indicated on the jack must never
be exceeded.
3. The jack must be used as a lifting device only.
4. Always place the jack on a hard and level surface.
5. Always protect the car from rolling away. Before
jacking up the car, place chocks behind and in front of
the wheels remaining on the ground, if necessary. Put
the car in first gear or put on the handbrake to further
block the car.
6. Make sure to place the jack in such a way that your
hand is not underneath the car when jacking it up.
7. Make sure the jack is placed vertical.
8. For your own safety, before working or crawling
underneath the car jack up the car and support the
shafts.
9. Before using the shaft supports make sure they are in
good condition.
10. Should the pressure in the jack become too high,
excess air will escape through the relief valve. The
relief valve has been set in the factory.
BEFORE USING THE APPARATUS
ASSEMBLING THE JACKING BEAM
Telescope both parts of the jacking beam, allowing the
flat side to be used when opening and closing the cock to
lower the jack.
LIFTING
Put the car in '1' or engage the hand brake and block
the wheels to prevent the car from moving.
Close the cock by means of the jacking beam.
Instal the screw jack in the right place (indicated by
the car manufacturer).
Insert the jacking beam into the jacking point and
move the jacking beam up and down.
SHAFT SUPPORTS
After jacking up the car the shaft supports should be
installed.
Lower the car by turning the the screw of the release
valve anticlockwise, until the car rests on the sup-
ports. Never work under a car which only rests on
the trolley jack.
LOWERING
When you have finished the job, jack up the car until the
jack stands are free. Remove the jack stands. Using the
jacking beam, very slowly and counterclockwise open
the cock referred to under 2.

TROUBLESHOOTING
In case the hydraulic jack does not work well, we give you
subjoined some possible causes and their solutions:
1. Hydraulic jack does not lift
The cock has not been turned clockwise.
Turn the cock clockwise.
Not enough oil in trolley jack.
Remove the rubber cap on the side of the cylinder and
fill with oil.
Air in the hydraulic system.
Open the cock by turning it counterclockwise. Rapidly
pump several times in succession to remove any air.
Close the cock and place the cap back on the jack.
Repeat if necessary.
2. Jack only lifts as far as half the maximum
height
Not enough oil in the hydraulic jack.
Refill oil.
3. Trolley jack comes down after lifting
Defective or dirty valve.
Change or clean valve.
Defective piston seal.
Replace seal.
4. Trolley jack does not rise fast enough
Defective plunger packing.
Change packing.
Defective or dirty valve.
Change or clean valve.
MAINTENANCE
Regular maintenance of the hydraulic jack pre-
vents unnecessary problems.
LUBRICATION
Fig.B
1. Once a month the piston rod should be lubricated
with lubricating oil and grease.
2. Change the oil at least once a year. Remove the cap in
the side of the large cylinder and refill the jack with
hydraulic oil.
OIL CHANGE
1. Put the jack upright.
2. Lower the jack and the piston completely.
3. Remove the rubber oil cap from the jack.
4. Refill only with hydraulic oil. (Refill with oil as far as
the edge of the opening.) Remove any air as described
under Troubleshooting (Air in hydraulic system.).
5. Put the cap back in place.
6. Regularly clean the pivoted joints and the screwed
extension to keep the jack in good condition.
Only hydraulic oil should be used for refilling. Do not
use brake fluid.
ENVIRONMENT
In order to prevent the machine from damage during
transport, it is delivered in a sturdy packaging. Most of
the packaging materials can be recycled. Take these
materials to the appropriate recycling locations.
Take your unwanted machines to your local Ferm-
dealer. Here they will be disposed of in an environmen-
tally safe way.
