TROUBLE SHOOTING
Note:
If you have tried all of the actions suggested above, without solving the problem, please
contact your dealer or service provider.
Problem
The display on the front
panel does not light up.
No sound or picture, but the
front panel shows red light.
No sound or picture.
Bad picture/blocking error.
The picture is not shown
on the screen, when
switching on.
There is interference on
your digital satellite
channels, an existing
terrestrial channel or video
signal.
The RCU is not working.
What to do
Check that the main cable is plugged
into the power socket.
Press the standby button.
Adjust the dish. Check the signal level in
the Antenna Setup menu.
Check the cable connections, LNB and
other equipment connected between
the LNB and the receiver, or adjust the
dish.
Adjust the dish.
Connect a signal attenuator to the LNB
input.
Change to a larger dish.
Change to an LNB with lower noise
factor.
Change the LNB.
Check the UHF channel fi xed in your
system and tune the UHF channel
properly.
Change the output channel to a more
suitable channel, or connect the
system by SCART leads.
Change the batteries.
Aim RCU at the receiver, or check that
nothing blocks the front panel.

SOFTWARE UPDATE
Turn on the Slave receiver. When the Slave receiver is powered ON, it will
automatically check the software status of master receiver, fi nd the “rom.bin” fi le to
be upgraded in master receiver and shift into Download mode.
During the download, Front panel of Slave Receiver will display the procedure
situation.
After completed Download, Slave Receiver automatically writes downloaded data in
its Flash Rom. The Slave receiver will automatically check the downloaded data.
Please wait until red light on the front panel turn on. If not, please re-do the above
procedure to download again or consult your local distributor for aid.

Software Upgrade
If correct Port is selected, then the information of current version of the Receiver will
be displayed on the main menu.
If you want to upgrade now, then press “Upgrade Software” and fi nd the “rom.bin”
le to be up-graded in your PC. Then press “Open”.
During the download, your PC will display the procedure situation and the green light
on the front panel will turn on and fl icker.
After completed Download, receiver automatically writes downloaded data in its Flash
Rom. Be patient to wait till green light on the front panel off, and red light on the front
panel on.
Then plug off the receiver and re-power it on.
Read User Data
• If you select “Read User Data” button. You make any fi le, you can read your receiver
data. This receiver data will contain all the channels that are tuned by the receiver
The output will be a text fi le and you can also edit in your PC.
Write Factory Data
If you made your own data, you can upgrade in your receiver with this button.
If you want to write in your receiver, press “write factory data” button.
Select your own fi le.
During the download, the whole process is the same as the 2.2 software upgrade.
Master to Slave upgrading Instruction
Using a twisted/cross serial cable to connect the master receiver and slave receiver
with the RS232 port of them. Before connecting make sure that the cable is working.
Turn on the Master receiver and let it run completely. If the master receiver is con-
nected to The TV set, the picture and audio will be ceased when the upgrading begins
and resumes until the download is completely fi nished.

SOFTWARE UPDATE
Introduction
The objective is to list the steps for upgrading the FTLink.
Steps to be followed for PC to receiver upgrading
Connect Receiver to PC
Connect receiver to your PC using RS232C cable. (Don‘t attempt to connect the
PC to the receiver while either of the unit is powered on. It might caused a electrical
shock!)
Using a twisted/cross serial cable to connect the PC with the RS232 port of the
receiver. Before connecting make sure that the cable is working.
Turn on the Receiver
When the receiver is powered ON, red light on the front panel will turn on for a while
and then turn off.
Run FTLINK in your PC, then the upgrade main menu will be started.
From the PC run the FTLINK.exe fi le. Upon executing the exe the main menu of the
FTLink will be displayed.
Press “Setup Comm” to select Port connected to Receiver.
By pressing the “Setup Comm” button in the FTLink menu, select which COM port is
connected to the PC.

Change Signature PIN
Do the same way as the above Change PIN.
Note: The signature PIN will be locked after the three erroneous attempts to enter
the correct PIN. If locked, please call the dealer for help.
Maturity Level
In Maturity level submenu, you can change the smart card s maturity level, which will
affect whether scrambled program is granced or not.
Es sThere are four levels for selection: A-Over18, X Erotic, G-For the family, PG-with
parental Guidance.
In order to change the maturity level, you must enter the correct PIN.
If all of the items are satisfi ed, then you can click change maturity level button.
A dialogue will tell you whether your change is succeeded or not.
Subscription Status
Know the detail information of Subscription Status.
Event Status
Know the detail information of Event Status.
Token Status
Know the detail information of Token Status.
E-Mail
All E-mails from the operator are listed in this window.

Smart Card
Select Smart Card item in Conditional
Access menu and press [OK] key to enter
into submenu.
There are 9 items in this menu:
Card Information
Change PIN
Change Signature PIN
Maturity Level
Subscription Status

Product Ordering
Use [PR+/PR] keys to select desired item and press [OK] to enter into its submenu.
Card Information
In Card Information sub-menu, you can know the basic information about this condi-
tional access such as Card Status, CAS System ID, Interface Version, Card Number,
Number of sessions, Country Indicator, and Maturity Level.
Change PIN
Changes PIN window is design for changing the smart card‘s PIN, which is required
if you want change the maturity level settings.
In order to change the PIN, you must know the current PIN also called the old PIN.
Input the new PIN and twice the PIN (New PIN and Confi rm PIN must be the same)
your want to set.
Move cursor to [OK] button and press [OK] key, and then system will
pop up a dialogue informing you the changing result.
Note that the PIN can only constructed with arabic numerals.

The receiver makes you enjoy various scrambled channels encrypted by Viaccess, Na-
gravision, Irdeto, Conax, Cryptoworks and SECA.
Preparing
To be able to receive scrambled digital
satellite channels you need a Smartcard
and a Common Interface CA (Coniditonal
Access) module from the Service Provider
of your choice.
The Smartcard and the CA module may
also provide access to special menus
not described in this manual. If so, please
follow the instructions from the Service
Provider.
Only free to air channels are available
without Smartcard and CA module.
Insert the CA module in the slot of the
receiver and insert Smartcard to the CA
module entirely. If it is done properly, you
can enjoy scrambled channels accessed
by your CA module and Smartcard.
Note: The receiver has 2 slots of 2 CI modules.
Check Manager
Select Common Interface menu in the
Conditional Access menu and press [OK]
key. Then the receiver detects and shows
the CA module names, which you inserted
in the slots. Then select slot 1 or slot 2.
Then you can see the information, pro-
vided by the Program Provider.
Note: This information may be different from each Program Provider.

ANTENNA DIRECTION HELP
Although you entered correct value in
Antenna Set up menu, if your antenna
is positioned incorrectly, you could not
receive signal from the Satellite.
So the receiver provides Antenna Direction
Help in order for you to have exact informa-
tion to direct your antenna toward a satellite.
First select your desired Satellite name
and then the location of selected satellite
will be displayed. In case the location of
the satellite is changed, you can re-set the
new location.
Second, enter the value of Longitude and
Latitude of your location.
If you entered correct value of your posi-
tion, place your cursor on Compute and
press [OK] key.
Then the receiver shows the exact infor-
mation of antenna pointing.

your life.
Select Game item in the Game and Re-
ceiver Information sub menu, and press
[OK] key to enter into its window.
It contains six games of Russia Box,
Greedy snake, Ball, Five chess, Black-
White chess, and Push box.
Select the game that you want to play and
press [OK] key to enter into its window.
In each game window, If you don‘t know
how to play it, please press [INFO] key on
the RCU for help.

TIMER
The TIMER function allows you to program the timer with various ways. This function
is one of the strong point of the receiver.
To activate the Turn On Time and/or Turn Off Time, select YES and enter your
desired time.
Note: The receiver display the time which is given by satellite, so there may be some
differences between actual time and the receiver‘s time.
Time Adjust
Set local time: Adjust your local time.
• Summer time: If you are in summer time,
select ON.
Note: Time Adjust is default for the fi rst
time.
Time Reservation
Time Reservation allows you to program
the various timer function.
To activate the Turn on time and/or Turn
off the time , select YES and enter your
desired time.
And you can also select channel which will
be turn on or turn off.
You can set the timer daily, weekly,
monthly and yearly.

Das Then EPG box will be displayed.
You can see the channel in the PIG
screen, channel list in the left side and
Program schedule for selected channel
will be displayed in the right side. The time
will be displayed relating to the program
schedule.
Select one channel and placing the mark
on the time of Program name which detail
information you want to know.
Then you can see blue button, if there is details information of the channel. And press
Detail (blue key) key on the RCU, then detail information box will be displayed.
If you want to check the former or later information of the channel, please press
+6:00 key (yellow key) or 6:00 key (green key) on the RCU.
Note: A “No data available” message will be shown if the selected channel does not
provide EPG date.
Special Channel EPG
During the normal mode, if you want to look
up the program forecast in one week of
present playing channels, including channel
name, playing time, program content and so
on, please twice press [INFO] key on the RCU
to enter into the following window:
The present channel name is at the top of
window.
The date shows at the left-up corner.
The user can select playing date through [LEFT/RIGHT] key in the time compositor
from Sunday to Saturday.
The next row shows the current condition of window. EPG will show “researching EPG
information...” while searching the current channel. After searching, it will show “EPG
information”.
“Duration & Title” in the next row means that the contents in the following massage
box is the future program name and the time. User can move the point up and down
to select the programs by the right box. At this moment, if the detailed infor-
mation exists, it will be showed in the information box under the “Detail”. If no such
introduction, “No Detail” will appear.

CHANNEL MANAGER/EPG
Sort Channel
In Main Page, press [MENÜ] key on the
RCU and select Sort on the command
menu.
This Sort menu has its sub command and
it allows you to sort the channels as you
like. You can sort the channels by Favorite,
Lock, Scramble and Program name.
Place the cursor on your desired line, and
then press [OK] key.
And check whether the channels are sorted properly on the channel list or not.
Note: Radio Channel Manager has the same operation as TV channel Manager.
The receiver provides EPG function for you
to get access to the TV Guide(or Radio Guide
if you are listening to radio channels) which
will show the titles and other information of
the current and next programs on different
channels. The information is only available
from the network to which the channel you
are watching belongs.

Rename Channel
In Main Page, press [MENU] key on the
RCU, and then select Rename on the com-
mand menu.
This Rename command allow you to
rename the channel.
First select the channel to be renamed
and press [OK] key, then, keypad dialog
box will be displayed.
Edit your desired name entering word or
number.
To delete characters or numbers, select in the keypad dialog.
And check whether the channel name is changed on channel list properly or not.
Delete Channel
In the Channel manager, you can enter
Delete CH mode, if you press Delete key
(red key) on the RCU. Then, if you press
Delete key (red key) repeatedly, the mode
will be changed to be Delete TP -> Delete
Satellite -> Delete All -> Delete CH.
This Delete command allows you to delete
the channel permanently. First select the
channels, which you want to delete, then
selected channel number will be marked
to X. If you cancel the selection, press
[OK] key again, then the marked number
will be back.
If you decided to delete, press [EXIT] key and then Message box will be displayed.
Press [OK] to delete.
And check whether the channel number is deleted on channel list or not.
Warning: The deleted channel can not be recovered unless you search again. Please be
careful when you decide to delete channel.

Move Channel
In the TV channel manager page, press
[Move] key (yellow key) on the RCU.
Select a channel by pressing [OK] key and
move the cursor to the location in which
you want to move the selected channel
and press [OK] key.
Then, you will fi nd the selected channel is
moved to the desired location and channel
no. also changed in order accordingly.
And check whether the channel number is
changed on the channel list.
Lock Channel
Drücken In the TV channel manager
page, press [Lock] key (blue key) on
the RCU.
This Lock command allow you to lock the
channel. First select the channel, which
you want to lock, and press [OK] key
and then will be marked at rear of your
selected channel name.
Note: To perform this function, you should set up the Parental Lock in advance.

Favorite Channel
When you select channel manager, default
favorite list will be showed on the screen
as Favorite 1.
Select your favorite channel and then
press [OK] key. Then will be marked at
rear of your selected channel name.
Wenn And if you want to delete the chan-
nel name in the favorite channel list, press
[OK] key once again, then the mark will
be disappeared.
After the selection of favorite channels press [EXIT] key twice to save data and press
[FAV] key repeatedly to see if each of the favorite groups are properly selected.

How to make favorite group
When you enter channel manager, the default favorite group will be showed once on
the screen as Favorite 1.
If you press favorite key (green key) on the RCU, new favorite group will be created
newly as Favorite 2 and Favorite 3.
How to edit the name of favorite group
In the favorite mode, press [MENU] key
on the RCU then the commend box will be
displayed on the screen.
Select “Rename Favorite group” in the
commend box.
You can edit the name by using keypad.

CHANNEL MANAGER
The receiver provides most powerful channel managing function in the world and this
function allows you to have a more interesting and useful operation as well as watching
channels simply.
Manager
Manager consists of TV program
Manager, Radio Program Manager.
Press [OK] key placing the cursor on the
TV Program Manager.
Note: Since the usage of Radio Program
Manager is same as that of TV Program
Manager, in this manual only TV Channel
manager is explained.
In the left side of TV Program Manager menu, you can see the channel list which
were already searched and in the right side, you can watch the current channel in
small Picture in Graphic (PIG) mode (1/9 size of the normal) and you can see channel
information under the PIG screen.
When you move cursor from one channel to another, PIG will change accordingly.
You can utilize those color keys on the
RCU as below:
Delete mode (red key)
Favorite mode (green key)
Move mode (yellow key)
Lock mode (blue key)
Also, press [MENU] key on the RCU, then
command menu will be displayed.
TV channel manager has 3 commands as

Volume & Audio Control
• Volume Control: To increase or decrease
volume, use key on the RCU or
[VOL] on the front panel.
Note: The receiver has 32 volume levels
and this shall be controlled from the
adjusted volume level of your TV.
• Mute: To mute the sound, press button on the RCU. To bring back the normal
sound, press this key once again.
• Audio Control: Press the key repeatedly to select one of three possible Audio
settings (Left, Right and Stereo). The current audio condition will be displayed in the
channel information.
• Language Selection: Press the [AUDIO] key on the RCU repeatedly to select audio-
language. This is dependent on the transmission of audio signal which supports
multi-language.
Favorite List
If you want to have a favorite group lists
which were made in the channel manager,
please press [FAV] key on the RCU.
The method of grouping of favorite chan-
nel list will be explain in the favorite Chan-
nel (page 29).

Pause the frame
Press [PAUSE] key on the RCU to pause the screen.
To bring it back to the normalmode, press [PAUSE] key once again.
Previous channel recall
Press [PR] key on the RCU to move the previous channel which you watched before.
Channel Information
Every time you change channels, you will
receive program information for a few
seconds.
While watching channel, you can see the
current channel information anytime,
pressing [INFO] key on the RCU.
Note: Channel information will be displaying for 6 seconds and disappeared. You can
adjust the display time interval from 3 to 30 seconds.

Move the point to the FAVORITE by using
[PR+/PR-] on the RCU, and then eight
functional options (favorite 1 to favorite 8)
will fl ip out.
The middle list will show all the satellite
from which the programs in the receiver
come when selecting SATELLITE ways to
arrange the programs. The right list show
all the programs related to the selected
satellite.
When using a-z to arrange the programs,
the middle list will show 26 English
characters and etc, which is 27
selecting items in total. When one
character is chosen, the list in the right
side will show all the programs which are
beginning with such character. When etc
has been chosen, the list in the right side
will show all the programs which are not
beginning with such character.
• CAS is chosen to arrange the programs,
the two items FTA and SCRAMBLE will
appear in the middle list. When FTA
has been chosen, all the free programs
stored in the receiver will be listed in the
right side. When SCRAMBLE is chosen,
all the scrambled programs saved in the
receiver will come out at the right side.
