2. Verifythecartoncontainsallpartsfromthe
list.
3. Removetheshortsectionofsteeltubingfromthe
frontstabilizerreceiverbyremovingthetwo(2)hex
fixingboltswiththeenclosedwrench.Discardthis
item.
4. Threadthefour(4)stabilizerfeet(F2)intothe
undersideofthefrontandrearstabilizers(F&G).
5. Alignthefrontstabilizerassembly(F)withthe
receivermountedtotheframeandlooselyinstall
two(2)setsoftheAllenboltandcurvedwasher
assem
blies(I8&I9)throughframeandintothe
frontstabilizer(F).
6. Looselyinstalltwo(2)setsoftheAllenboltandflat
washerassemblies(I8&I7)throughtheunderside
oftheframereceiverandintofrontstabilizer(F).

handleadjuster(I6)evenlyandfirmly,positioningthe
handlebartothedesiredposition.Theupperandlower
gapsbetweentheconsolemastclampandtheclamp
shouldbeequal.
29. Snapthepulsewiregrommet(B3)ontothepulsewire
(B2)asshownsmallerinthebubbletotheleft.Thread
theheartratewireconnector(B2)throughthehole
ontherighthandsideoftheconsolemast(C)and
upward,outthr
oughtheopeningatthetop.Fitthe
pulsewiregrommetintotheholeintherightsideof
theconsolemast.
30. Bringtheupperandlowerhandlebarpivotcovers(C9
&C10)togetheroverthehandlebarpivotandinstall
thetwo(2)Phillipssc
rews(I10)throughthebottom
coverandintotheuppercover.
31. Installthefour(4)Phillipsscrews(I11)throughcovers
C9&C10andintotheconsolemast.
32. Placethewaterbottle(C5)inthecagelocatedonthe
consolemast.

Inthestudytitled,“TheSurgeonGeneral’sCallToActionToPreventandDecreaseOverweightandObesity”,thesurgeongeneralindicates
that61%ofAmericanadultsareeitheroverweightorobese.Thestudyindicatesthatbeingoverweightincreasestheriskofhealthproblems,
suchasheartdisease,certaintypesofcancer,aswellasType2diabetesamongotherafflictions.
HeartRateisanImportantKeytoYourExercise
TheSurgeonGeneralalsoreleasedareportonphysicalactivityandhealth.Thisreportdictatesthatexerciseandfitnessarebeneficialfora
person’shealthandreiteratedtheneedforexerciseasakeycomponentfordiseasepreventionandhealthierliving.
Thebestwaytodetermineexerciseintensityistomonitoryourpulserate.Yourheartratecaneasilybedeterminedbycountingthenumber
ofheartbeatsperminuteatthechest,wristorthecarotidarteryonyourneck.Itisdifficulthowevertocountyourownpulsewhileexercising
asitisnotpossibletocountfastenoughtoaccuratelytrackthenumberofbe
atsperminute.ThisDiamondbackFitnessunitisequippedwitha
setoftouchheartratesensors.

UsingtheTouchHeartRateSensors
Whiletheunitispoweredonandaworkoutprogramisoperating,gentlygraspbothtouchheartratesensors
onthehandlebar.Thecomputerwilldetectyourpulserateandregisterthevalueasatwoorthreedigit
numberinthePULSEwindowontheLCDdisplay.
NOTE: Ifaninconsistentheartrateisdisplayedwhileusingthehandpulsesensors:
Ensurethepalmsofbothhandsaretouchingthecontactareasofthetouchheartratesensors.
Maintainconstantandevenpressureonthegrips.Donotclutchthesensorstightly.
Trytokeepbothhandsstillwhilegripingthetouchheartratesensor.

UsingtheWirelessHeartRateReceiver
Ingeneral,awirelessheartratecheststrapisthemostaccurateandconvenie ntmethodofdetectingandmonitoringaheartratesignalandis
aconsiderableupgradefromthetouchtypeheartratesensors.Occasionally,certainfactorscannegativelyaffecttheaccuratetransmissionof
theheartratesignal.WiFinetworks,cordlesstelephonesandlargeelectricalappliancesmaydegradeorcorruptthesignalsothattherate
appearserraticorimpossiblyhigh.Theonlyremedyforsuchasymptomistoisolatetheunitfrompotentialdisturbances.Additionally,a
person’sbodychemistryorlackofperspirationcanpreventthecheststrapfromprovidinga
strongoraccurateheartratesignal
Awirelesstelemetryheartratereceivingsystemisonefeaturefoundonthisunit.Inorder
fortheconsoletodetectanddisplayyourheartratewirelessly,four(4)conditionsmustbe
present:
Acompatibleheartratecheststraptransmitter(notincluded)mustbefu
nctioning
andworn.Forproperfunctionofthecheststrap,pleaserefertothe
manufacturer’sinstructions.NoncodedtransmitterssuchasthePolarmodelT31
andT34areexamplesofwirelesscheststrapsknowntobecompatiblewiththis
unit.

CalculatedMaximumHeartRate&TargetTrainingZone
Yourtargetheartratedependsprimarilyuponyourage.Itisimportanttoworkwithinasafeandproductivezone,foriftheexerciseintensity
istoolowortoohigh,onlymodestgainswillbemadeinstrengthandcardiovascularfitness.Aworkoutataverylowintensitywillnotoffer
maximumbenefits.Conversely,iftheworkoutintensityistoohigh,injuryorfatiguemayslowtheprogressionofyourexercisegoalsasthe
bodyattemptstorecover.
Note: Itismosteffectivetotrainataheartratebetween60%and85%ofyourmaximumheartrate.Maximumheartrate
iscalculatedasapercentageofyourmaximumheartrate(estimatedas220BPMminusyourage).
Tocalculateyourmaximumheartrateandfindtheappropriatetargettrainingzone,usethefollowingformulas.Thefollowingestimation
wouldberelevantfora35yearolduser:
22035=185BPM (220Age=CalculatedMaximumHeartRateinBeatsperminute/BPM)
0.60x185=111BP
M (60%of185BPM[CalculatedMaximumHeartRate]=111BPM)

Basedonthesecalculations,therecommendedheartratetrainingzoneforthisuserwouldbebetween111BPMand157BPM.Thegraphto
theleftdisplaystherecommendedheartratetrainingzoneforuserstwentyyearsofagetoseventyfiveyearsofage.
WORKOUTQUALITYANDQUANTITY
Itisrecommendedthatyouaccumulateatleastthirty(30)minutesofphysicalactivitymostdaysoftheweek.TheAmericanCollegeofSports
Medicinemakesthefollowingrecommendationsforthequantityandqualityoftrainingfordevelopingandmaintainingcardiorespiratory
fitnessinhealthyadults:
Anactivitythatuseslargemusclegroups,maint
ainedcontinuously,andisrhythmicalandaerobicinnature.
Duration: 20to60minutesofcontinuousaerobicactivity,includingawarm upandcooldownperiodforeachsession.
Frequency: 3to5timesperweek.
Intensity: 60%to85%ofmaximumheartrate.
Inadditiontoaerobicexerc
ise,strengthtrainingofmoderateintensitytwiceperweekisrecommended.Womenespeciallymaybenefitfrom
weightbearingexercises.Selectactivitiesyouenjoyandcanfitintodailylife.HavingDiamondbackFitnessequipmentathomeoffersyouthe
opportunitytoworkoutwithoutgoingtothegym.

Anyoneovertheageof35,aswellasyoungerpersonswhomareoverweight,shouldcheckwithhis/herphysicianbeforecommencingan
exerciseprogram.Personswhohavediabetesorhighbloodpressure,afamilyhistoryofheartdisease,highcholesterolorhaveledsedentary
lifestylesshouldprotectthemselveswithamedicalcheckupandstresstestadministeredbyahealthcareprofessional.
Stretchingandmassagingmajormuscles(suchasyourquadriceps)followingaworkoutsessionwillaidinthedissipationoflactic
acidandspeedyourbody’srecovery.
Thefirstfewminutesofyourworkoutshouldbedevotedtowarmingupthemuscle
sbeforeavigorousworkout.Concentrateon
raisingyourheartrateslowly.
Afteranaerobicworkoutofroughly2030minutes,spend10minutesgraduallyreducingyourheartratebymovingslowerorwith
lessresistance.
NOTE: Startslow,withintensitylowuntilyoubuildupenduranceandstrength.Alwaysconsultyourphysicianbefore

TimeDisplays(TotalTime&SegmentTime)
LocatedinthecenteroftheupperdisplayaretheTotalTimeandSegmentTimeclocks.TheTotalTimefieldwillcount
upthetotalelapsedtimeforthecurrentprogram,thenswitchtodisplaythetotaltimeremaining.Thedisplaywill
switchbetweenthesetwovalueseveryfivesecondsunlessthisfeaturedisdisabledbytheuser.Theusercantogglethe
switchingfeatureonandoffbypressingtheRIGHTARROWkey.TheSegmentTimedisplaytimewillalternatethe

Wattsareameasurementofenergygenerationandarefrequentlyadoptedwithinthefitnessindustrytotracktheamount
ofworkgeneratedatanygiventimeduringaworkout.Wattsarecalculatedwithinputfromtheuser’scurrentSpeedand
Level/Resistance.
HeartRate/Beatsperminute(BPM)
Whentheuser’sheartratesignalisdetectedviatheheartratesensorson
thefixedhandlebarorawirelesstransmitter(suchasacheststrap)theheart
andDBsymbolswillflashandtheuser’scurrentheartratewillbedisplayed.
Iftheuser’sheartratesignalisnotdetected,NoSignalw
illlightandtheheartratedisplaywillpost‐‐‐“.Whenoperatinga
heartratecontrolprogram,TargetHeartRateAchievedwillbelitiftheuser’scurrentheartrateiswithinthedefinedrange.
The“DB/Heart”logowillflashtoindicatethataheartratesignalisbeingreceived.

TheHeartRateBarGraphprovidestheuserwithmeaningfulheartratefeedbackinaneasytoreadformat.Whenaheart
ratesignalisdetected,thebarsofthegraphwilllighttoindicateatwhichpercentageoftheuser’smaximumheartrateand
trainingzone(WarmUp,FatBurn,Cardio,orPeak)theuserisoperatingwithin.TheHeartRateBarGraphwillnotlightifthe
userisoperatinginguestmodeornoheartratessignalisdetected.IftheQuickStartprogramisrunning,thedefaultage

giventime.Eachverticalcolumnrepresentsatimeintervaldeterminedbythetotallength
oftheprogram.Eachcolumnwillequal1/40

theprogramlengthis30minutes,eachcolumnwillequal45seconds.TheMatrixDisplay

DistancewillbedisplayedineitherMilesorKilometers,dependingupontheselectionmadeintheconsolesetupmode
(seesectiontitledEnglishUnitModeandMetricUnitMode).The distancecalculationisan estimationbaseduponthe

TheCaloriesfieldtrackstheestimatednumberofcaloriesburnedfromthebeginningoftheprogramandisaderivative
oftheWattsgenerated,theuser’sRPMandtheresistancelevel.
Speed
SpeedisdisplayedasMilesperHourorKilometersperHour(dependinguponthecurrentconsole
setting)andisbasedupontherevolutionsperminutes(RPM).
