could result in severe or fatal injury
to anyone working with, inspecting or

Öhlins products are subject to continual improve-
ment and development. Consequently, although

information available at the time of printing, there
may be minor differences between your

regard to the contents of the manual.

at high ambient temperature, the oil and
grease used for assembling may run out
inside the packing and damage the expanded

WARNING!
1. It´s advisable to have an Öhlins dealer or other
qualified person to mount your McPherson struts.
2. Instructions in the vehicle service manual are
to be followed when changing the McPherson
struts.
3. When working on a lifted vehicle it must be
securely supported to prevent it from falling.
NOTE!
Make sure that all bolts are tightened to the correct
torque and that nothing fouls or restricts movement
of the suspension when it is being fully compressed
or extended.

Mounting instructions
1
Lift the car so the front wheels are clear of
the ground. Make sure it´s steadily fixed so
it will not fall down.
2
Remove the wheel and loosen the lower
strut attachment. Support the upright, to
reduce the risk of damaging the brake hose.
3
Loosen the top mount (three nuts) and re-
move the standard strut
4
Check the marking on the Öhlins front struts
to locate left or right front.
5
Fit the Öhlins strut to the car. First put the
hose connected reservoir through the hole
in the inner fender. First fit the top mount
then the lower bracket. Refit the wheel.
NOTE!
Pointing the hose forward and tilting the lower
part of the strut forward, will ease the mounting
of the strut.
6
Fit the hose connected reservoir to the strut
brace by using the rubber mounts and hose
clamps. Do not overtighten the strut brace.
See owners manual of the car.
CAUTION!
The hose must not be restricted and should run
in soft turns. Be sure to use sufficiently long bolts
for the upright bracket. Use flange screws and
flange nuts or use thick washers.
7
Continue your work accordning to Owners
manual, section adjustments.
Increase of stroke
Depending on suspension geometry set-
tings, production tolerance variations and
other factors, there might be space to in-
crease the stroke of the struts. By having
your Öhlins dealer remove the internal
spacers, the stroke can be increased in
steps up to 215 mm. To determine how long
stroke you safely can use, the struts need
to be trial fitted and all clearances must be
checked under full droop and the steering
moved from lock to lock.
