1. Installing a Öhlins McPherson strut,
that is not approved by the vehicle
manufacturer, may affect the vehicle’s
stability. Öhlins Racing AB cannot be held
responsible for any personal injury or dam-
age that may occur after fi tting the Öhlins
McPherson strut.
2. The vehicle service manual must be
referred to when installing this Öhlins
McPherson strut.
3. Please study and make certain you fully
understand the mounting instructions and
the owner’s manual before handling this
Öhlins McPherson strut. If you have any
questions regarding proper installation
procedures, contact an Öhlins dealer.

NOTE!
During storage and transportation, espe-
cially at high ambient temperature, the oil
and grease used for assembling may run out
inside the packing and damage the expanded
polystyrene packing material. This is not
unusual and is in no way detrimental to the
Öhlins McPherson strut.
NOTE!
Öhlins products are subject to continuous
improvement and development. Therefore,
although these instructions include the most
up-to-date information available at the time
of printing, there may be minor differences
between your Öhlins McPherson strut and
this manual. Please consult your Öhlins
dealer if you have any questions regarding
the contents of this manual.
MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING!
1. It is advisable to have an Öhlins dealer install the
Öhlins McPherson strut.
2. Follow the instructions in the vehicle service
manual when changing the Öhlins McPherson
strut.
3. When working on a raised vehicle, make sure that
it is securely supported to prevent it from tipping.

Raise the car so that the front wheels are off
the ground.

Remove the front wheels.

Loosen the bolts for the lower strut attach-
ments.
CAUTION!
Support the wheel hubs in an appropriate way on
each side of the vehicle so that the brake hose
and/or drive shaft joint can not be damaged.

Loosen the upper attachment. Remove the
original struts.

Install the Öhlins McPherson struts to the ve-
hicle. Lead the reservoir and hose through the
hole of the wheel arch.

Fasten the upper attachments.

Fasten the external reservoir to a suitable
mounting point. Use the rubber mounts and tie
wraps provided in this kit.

CAUTION!
If you need to bend
the hose, make sure
the radius is no smaller
than 40 mm.

CAUTION!
Make sure the reservoir is not close to source
of heat, that nothing can damage the reservoir
and that air can fl ow freely around it. Make sure
the hose to the external reservoir runs in a soft
bend. Minimum 40 mm radius.

Raise the wheel hub with a hydraulic jack to
remove the freeplay of the bolts before tighten-
ing all strut attachment caps.
NOTE!
Make sure that all bolts are tightened to the
correct torque and that nothing fouls or restricts
movement of the strut when it is being fully
compressed or extended.
