BEFORE STARTING
It is important totesttheboomandspraygunwithplain
waterbeforeusingchemicals.Thiswillenableyoutocheck
thesprayerforleaksandtosetthespraypatternandnozzle
pressure.Ifaleakshouldoccur,threadtapemaybeused
tobettersealthetting.
OPERATOR ON-OFF SWITCH
Thisswitchisconnectedinlinetothewiringassemblyand
turnsthepumpmotoronoroff.
PUMP PRESSURE SWITCH
Thepumpisequippedwithapressureswitch.Thepressure
switchwilltemporarilyturnofftheelectricalpowertothepump
atafactorypredeterminedhighpressurepointof60PSI.If
theowdemandisverylow,thepumpmayrepeatedlyreach
thishighpressurepointandtheswitchwillcause"cycling"
(thepumpcyclesonandoffrapidly).Thisisnotaproblem
unlessthepumpissubjecttocontinuousrapidcyclingfor
long periods of time.
ON-OFF ADJUSTMENT OF BOOM NOZZLES
Thesprayerisequippedwitha"Y"ttingcontainingaboom
valveandabypassvalve.Theboomvalveturnstheow
onor offtotheboomnozzles.Openitcompletelywhen
sprayingwiththeboom.Closeitcompletelyifyouwishto
useonlythespraygun.
ADJUSTING THE OPERATING PRESSURE
Thebypassvalveonthe"Y"ttingcontrolstheowtothe
hosethatreturnsuidtothetank.Theamountofowthrough
thishosedeterminestheoperatingpressurewhentheboom
orthespraygunisinuse.Adjustthebypassvalvetoobtain
thedesiredspraypattern.Ifmistingoccurs,openthebypass
valvemoreuntilthemistingiseliminated.
ADJUSTING THE SPRAY GUN NOZZLE
Turnthenozzleonthesprayguntoadjustthesprayfrom
aconeshapednemisttoastraightstream.Controlthe
spraygunoperatingpressurewiththebypassvalveonthe
"Y"tting.Maximumspraygunpressurecanbeattained
whentheboomisshutoff.
SETTING THE BOOM FOR SPRAYING
The correct positioning of the boom places the nozzles
approximately40"apartand 14"abovetheground.This
givesaspraywidthofapproximately80"withaslightcenter
overlap.Seegure11.
a. Slidetheboombarsouttotheendsofthe
slots.
b. Swiveltheboombarsuntilthenozzlesare
approximately14"abovetheground.
c. Makesurethenozzlesareadjustedsothatthe
openingspointstraightdown.
USING THE SPRAYER
1. Determinetheapplicationrate(gallonsper1,000sq.feet
orgallonsperacre)basedonthechemicalmanufacturers
recommendations.
2. Determinetheapproximatesquarefootageoftheareato
besprayedandestimatethenumberofgallonsrequired.
Thiscanhelpavoidunneededsolutionleftinthetank.
3. Determinetheappropriatespeedatwhichtotravel,based
onthechosenpressuresettingandtherecommended
applicationrate.Refertothechartonpage9.
4. Determine thethrottle setting for attainingaspecic
speedbymarkingoff100,200and300feetintervals.The
speedchartonpage9indicatesthenumberofseconds
ittakestotravelthesedistances.Setthethrottleand,
witharunningstart,travelthedistancesinthenumber
ofsecondsindicatedbythespeedchart.Onceyouhave
determinedthethrottleandgearsettingsneeded,mark
thethrottlelocationsothatyoucaneasilyresumethe
same speed after stopping.
5. Tosettheoperatingpressureaddplainwatertothe
sprayertankfortesting.Opentheboomvalvecompletely.
Formaximumusablesprayingpressure,closethebypass
valvecompletelyandthenstartopeningthevalveuntil
mistingstopsandanormalspraypatternisobtained.
Continueopeningthevalveifalowersprayingpressure
isdesired.Ifthespraypatternbeginstobreakup,then
thepressureistoolow.
6. Add the chemical solution to the tank, following the
product instructions.
7. Drivetothestartingplaceforspraying.Settheboom
inpositionforspraying.Setthethrottleattheposition
determinedinstep4.Flipthesprayer'sin-lineswitchto
the"ON"positiontostartspraying.
8. Stayclearofowers,shrubsandevergreentreeswhen
spraying weed control solutions to prevent contact of
thesolutionwiththesesensitiveplants.
