GENERAL DESCRIPTION
AVX912R6 is a Power over Coaxial converter, which is capable of signal conversion, so
that users can get network system functionality over existing coaxial cabling. The device is a
right solution to upgrade the analog system to current digital system with low setup costs. What’s
more, it also enables users the ability to connect multiple IP cameras to NVR, and
meanwhile supply power to the connecting cameras. This converter is plug & play, and
consequently requires no additional configuration. In addition, its compact size allows
for installation anywhere. AVX912R6 supports LED indication for users to check the
operating status of the connecting AVP cameras and NVR. The following are the key features of
AVX912R6:
Power over Coaxial Cable (PoC)
AVX912R6 supports 48V DC power supply to six AVP IP cameras through coaxial
cables, and no need to insert additional power.
Rich Diagnostic LED Indication
With LED indications, users can easily perceive the unusual situation to
troubleshoot themselves.
Flexible Installation
Multiple pieces of AVX912R6 can be chained together to expand the number of
cameras to connect.

SYSTEM CONCEPT
AVTECH has combined NVR, AVP IP cameras*, and AVX912R6, PoC converter together
to built video surveillance systems with one cable solution, which requires only one
cable to operate, and no need to plug in power.
AVX912R6 is using PoC technology to pass electricity, along with data on a coaxial
cable. Also, AVX912R6 enables you to connect multiple cameras to NVR at a time.
This simple solution helps you get into IP-based system easily, and especially it
requires no additional power and minimizes the clutter of extra cables.
The graph below shows how to connect a NVR, an AVX912R6 and AVP IP cameras*
altogether.
Step 1: Plug a network cable into the LAN port of NVR and AVX912R6.
Note: The other LAN port on AVX912R6 is to connect AVX912R6 to another one to
expand the number of cameras in use.
Step 2: Plug the existing coaxial cables into PoC ports of AVX912R6 and coaxial port of AVP IP
cameras. (One camera requires one coaxial cable and up to 6 AVP IP cameras)
Step 3: Connect power adapters to NVR and AVX912R6.
Step 4: Turn on the NVR and AVX912R6.
* AVP IP camera is one type of IP cameras that offers data transmission over a coaxial cable via a BNC connector.
AVP IP camera should be paired with AVX912R6 for quick replacement from existing CCTV systems to HD IP
systems.
LED STATUS INDICATION
There are multiple LED status indicators on AVX912R6 as shown below to indicate the
power and operational status. Please refer to the following table for troubleshooting.
Type* Color Description
Off No power supply and no connectivity
Red on
48V DC adapter supplies power to the IP camera;
the connection to IP camera is not on or unstable
Orange on
12V DC adapter supplies power to the IP camera;
the connection to IP camera is on
Green on
48V DC adapter supplies power to the IP camera;
the connection to IP camera is on
PoC**
(A)
Green Blinking
48V DC adapter supplies power to the IP camera;
If the current is higher than 300mA, the status starts to blink,
and if it exceeds 400mA, the light will rapidly blink

* Please see “Product Overview” to see where LED status indicators are located on AVX912R6
** If you power a camera from 48V DC adapter in the first place, and then, you connect 12V DC adapter to the camera as well,
the camera will receive power via coaxial cables and the camera adapter at the same time; the light would show green.
