VerifyingScannerOperation
Beforeconnectingthescannertohostormountingtocounter,youmayf ollowthe
procedurebelowtoverifyscanningoperation.
1. Insertthe10pinmodularplugoftheinterfacecableintothe“Hostconnectoron
thescanneruntilafirmclickisheard.
2. Plugtheotherendofthecab
letothehost.
3. Powerupthescanner.
4. Presentaknowngoodtestbarcodetothescanner.Thescannershouldissueashort
beepandtheLEDshouldflashredmomentarily.


Ifthescannerdoesnotproduceanybeeps,orproducesthewrongbeeps,or
theLEDisnotlitup,removethepowerconnectionandref ertothesection
ofTroubleshooting.
ConnectingtotheHost
Theinterfacecablecomeswithdifferenthostendconnectors,dependingonthehost.
Followthestepsbelowtoconnectthedevicetothehost.
1. Turnoffthehostsystem.
2. Connectthescannerandthehostwiththeinterfacecable(Refertoyourhost
manualtolocatethecorrectportfo
rthescanner).
3. PlugthepowercabletothejackonthedeviceandconnectthepowercordtoanAC
outlet.
4. Ifnecessary,setupthescannerinterfacewiththebarcodeintheprogrammingguide.
(RefertotheSetUpsection.)
5. Turnonthehostsystem.

Whenproperlyseated,theconnectorissecuredinthescannerbottombyaflexible
retentiontab.Youcaneasilyreplacethecommunicationcableandsetuptheinterface
viaprogramming.Replacementcablescanbeobtainedfromyo
urdistributor.
Followthesestepstoreplacetheinterfacecable:
1. Turnoffthehostsystemandpoweroffthescanner.
2. Disconnecttheoldinterfacecablefromthehost.
3. Pressdownthesmalltabontheconnectorwheretheoldcableisattachedtothe
scannerandpulloutth
econnector.
4. Insertthe10pinmodularplugofanewinterfacecableintothe“Hostconnector
onthescanneruntilitclicks.
5. Plugthenewcableintothehost.
6. Reprogramthescannerinterfacewithbarcodesbeloworrefertothe

PreInstallationConsiderations
Beforemountingthescanner,someconsiderationsareasbelow:
Determinethedirectionofpackageflowforyourapplication.Locatetheoptimum
scannerpositioninthecountersurface.Payattentiontotheproductflow,distance
tothecounteredgeandconveniencefortheoperator.
Placementofthescannershouldallowea
syaccesstoothercomponentsaswellas
optimizecommunicationbetweenthescanner,thePOSterminal,theadditional
handheldscannerandanyEASperipheralequipment.Donotrouteinterfaces
cablesnearanyelectricalmotorsorothersourceofelectromagneticinterference.
Toensuremountingstability,avoidplacingthescannerinsu
chawayastosubject
ittoexcessvibration,bumping,spilledliquid,etc.
Thescannershouldbeinstalledinalocationawayfromdirectsunlightsincehigh
levelsofambientlightreducescannereffectiveness.
Thescannerhousingisdesignedtoprovideadequatespaceforconv ectivecooling.

wever,toprolongworkinghours,thescannershouldbeplacedatwherethereis
