HOW TO APPLY LUBRICANT
Lift one side of treadbelt.
Pour one half of the lubricant bottle under the centre of the treadbelt on the top surface of the treadboard.
Walk on the treadmill at a slow speed for 3 to 5 minutes to evenly distribute lubricant.
NOTE: DO NOT over lubricate treadboard. Any excess lubricant that comes out should be wiped off.
NOTE: ONLY USE HALF THE BOTTLE OF LUBRICANT PER APPLICATION
LUBRICATION SCHEDULE.
1. Check the treadboard lubrication during installation. If it’s necessary, lubricate the treadboard, using the full bottle
of lubricant provided, before using the treadmill for the rst time.
2. If the treadmill is used on a regular basis, the running deck should be lubricated once a month.
3. If the treadmill is not used for two months or more, the treadmill must be lubricated before use.
6. MAINTENANCE
HOW TO CHECK TREADBELT FOR PROPER
LUBRICATION
Lift one side of the treadbelt and feel the top surface of the
treadboard.
If the surface is slick to the touch, then no further lubrication is
required.
If the surface is dry to the touch, apply one packet of lubricant or
half of the bottle of lubricant.
BELT TRACKING ADJUSTMENT
If during use you notice that the running belt either shifts to the right
or the left of centre, rst remove “Safety Key” and unplug equipment
from AC power source. Using M6 Allen wrench provided, turn the
left rear roller adjustment clockwise no more the 1/4” of a turn.
Remove the M6 Allen wrench, insert the “Safety Key” and insert the
AC power cord into the AC outlet. Turn on your treadmill and
observe after running for a few minutes to see if the problem has
been corrected. This may take several adjustments, so repeat the
above procedure.
Your treadmill should require little maintenance other than to periodically apply lubricant. Lubricating under the
treadbelt will ensure superior performance and extend the treadmill’s life expectancy.

8. COMPUTER FUNCTIONS
GETTING STARTED:
Power the treadmill on by plugging it into an appropriate wall outlet, then turn on the power switch located
at the front of the treadmill below the motor hood. Ensure that the safety key is installed, as the treadmill will
not power on without it.
When the power is turned on, a message will scroll across the dot matrix display showing the current software
version. Then the Time and Distance windows will display Odometer readings for a short time.
The Time window will show how many hours the treadmill has been in use and the Distance window will show
how many miles (or kilometers if the treadmill is set to metric readings) the treadmill has gone. The treadmill
will then enter idle mode, which is the starting point for operation.

Press and hold the Adjust keys (console or handgrip) to achieve desired level of effort.
You may also choose a more rapid increase / decrease by selecting desired key, 2 through 12, on left hand side of
console (incline).
The display will indicate incline position as adjustments are made.
DOT MATRIX DISPLAY (PROGRAM OPERATION):
Twenty columns of dots (8 high) indicate each segment of a workout. The dots are only to show an approximate level
of effort. They do not necessarily indicate a specic value - only an approximate percent to compare levels of intensity. In
operation the Speed / Incline dot matrix window will build a prole “picture” as values are changed during a workout.
When the Speed indicator (which is above dot matrix) is lit, the Dot matrix displays the Speed prole. When the Incline
indicator is lit, the Dot Matrix displays the Incline prole.
You may change the Dot Matrix prole view by pressing the SELECT button. Scroll through the three proles (incline,
speed & incline, speed prole), by pressing the SELECT button. The Dot matrix will automatically scroll through the three
displays showing each one for ve seconds.
400M (1/4 MILE) TRACK: The 400m (1/4 mile) track will be displayed around the dot matrix window. The ashing dot
indicates your progress. Once the 400m (1/4 mile) has been completed this feature will begin again. The number of laps are
accumulated in the “laps” window which is below the the PULSE indicator.
PULSE GRIP FEATURE:
The Pulse (Heart Rate) console window will display your current heart rate in beats per minute during the workout. You
must hold both stainless steel sensors on the front cross bar to display your pulse or, alternatively, use the wireless chest
strap. Pulse values display anytime the display is receiving a Pulse signal.
CALORIE DISPLAY:
Displays the cumulative calories burned at any given time during your workout.
Note: This is only a rough guide used for comparison of different exercise sessions, which cannot be used for medical
purposes.
10195M-16

the calorie count. Use the Up/Down keys, Fast/Slow to adjust, then press ENTER.
A note about the Calorie display: No exercise machine can give you an exact calorie count because there are
too many factors which determine exact calorie burn for a particular person. Even if someone is the exact
same body weight, age and height, their calorie burn may be very different than yours. The Calorie display is to
be used as a reference only to monitor improvement from workout to workout.
STEP 4: The Calorie window will display the preset top speed of the selected program. Use the Up/Down, Fast/Slow
keys to adjust, and then press enter. Each program has various stages with speed changes. This allows you to
limit the highest speed the program can reach.

USING THE HEART RATE TRANSMITTER
1. Attach the transmitter to the elastic chest strap using the clips provided.
2. Adjust the strap to a rm t around the chest
3. Position the transmitter in the centre of your chest, immediately below the pectoral muscles, with the TROJAN logo
facing outwards.
4. Sweat will act as a very effective conductor to accurately transmit heart beat electrical signals. Plain water can also be
used to pre-wet the electrodes (moisten the two black square areas on the reverse side of the belt and either side of
transmitter). It is also recommended that you wear the transmitter strap a few minutes before you start your work out.
Some users, because of body chemistry, take longer to achieve a strong, steady signal at the beginning of exercise. After
“warming up”, this problem lessens.
5. Wearing clothing over the transmitter/strap does not affect performance.
6. The transmitter must be within range of the receiver to achieve a strong steady signal. Stay close enough to the console
to maintain strong, reliable, readings.
7. Wearing the transmitter immediately against your body will ensure proper operation. It may also be worn over a shirt as
long as areas of the shirt around the transmitter are rst moistened.
Note: The transmitter is automatically activated when it detects activity from the user’s heart. Additionally, it automatically
deactivates when it does not receive any activity. Although the transmitter is water resistant, moisture can have the effect
of creating false signals. Ensure you completely dry the transmitter after use to prolong battery life (estimated transmitter
battery life is 2500 hours). The replacement battery is Panasonic CR2032.
Erratic Operation:
Caution! Do not use this treadmill for Heart Rate Control unless a steady, reliable actual Heart Rate value is being displayed.
Erratic, random numbers being displayed indicate a problem due to interference.
Potential Sources of Interference:
(1) Treadmill improperly earthed
(2) Close proximity to Microwave ovens, TV’s and some other small appliances.
(3) Some types of Fluorescent lights.
(4) Some household security systems.
(5) Electronic perimeter pet fences
The antenna that detects your heart rate is very sensitive. If you encounter an interference problem, changing the orientation
of the machine by 90 degrees may solve the problem.
If you continue to experience problems, contact your dealer.
9. HEART RATE TRANSMITTER
WARNING
!
DO NOT USE THE HEART RATE CONTROL
PROGRAM IF YOUR HEART RATE IS NOT
REGISTERING PROPERLY ON THE TREADMILL’S
DISPLAY!
10195M-19
Special Operations of Heart Rate Functions:
TROJAN treadmills that are factory equipped with a Heart Rate Control system have many distinct features both in the
Heart Rate Control program and during heart rate monitoring. This section will give you a more detailed background
to use your treadmill in the most effective manner.
HEART RATE CONTROL
How the Heart Rate Control Program Works:
Heart Rate Control (HRC) uses your treadmill’s speed and incline systems to adjust your heart rate. Increases
and decreases in elevation affect heart rate much more efciently than changes in speed alone. The HRC program
automatically changes the speed and elevation gradually to achieve the programmed target heart rate.
Selecting a Heart Rate Control Program:
You have the option, during the setup mode, to choose either the Weight Control (H-1) program or the Cardiovascular
(H-2) program. Weight Control attempts to maintain your heart rate at 60% of your Maximum Heart Rate. The
Cardiovascular (H-2) progem attempts to maintain your heart rate at 80% of your Maximum Heart Rate.
Your Maximum Heart Rate is based upon a formula that is calculated based on the age you input during the setup
mode.
CAUTION!
The target value used in H-1 and H-2 programs is a suggestion only for normal, healthy individuals. Do not exceed
your limits! You may not be able to obtain your chosen target. In this case, enter a higher age value that will set a lower
target goal.
Heart Rate Control programming
Both programs operate the same way. The only difference is that HRC 1 is set to 60% and HRC 2 is set to 80%
of maximum heart rate. Use the Heart Rate Control (either wireless transmitter chest strap or Pulse Grip bar) to
sense your heart rate. The console must receive a strong, steady value in the heart rate (PULSE) display to operate
effectively.
STEP 1: Press Program Up/ Down button to choose HR1 or HR2, then press ENTER.
STEP 2: The Calories window will now be blinking showing bodyweight. Adjust to your actual bodyweight and press
ENTER to accept the value.
STEP 3: The Calories window will now be blinking showing age. Adjust and press ENTER. Adjusting Age will change
the Target HR value.
STEP 4: The heart rate level will now be displayed. Adjust if necessary and press ENTER.
STEP 5: The time window will now be displayed. Adjust as required and press ENTER.
STEP 6: Press START to begin the program.

AEROBIC EXERCISE
Aerobic exercise is any sustained activity that sends oxygen to your muscles via your heart and lungs. Aerobic exercise
improves the  tness of your lungs and heart - your body’s most important muscle. Aerobic exercise  tness is promoted
by any activity that uses your large muscles (arms, legs, or buttock, for example). Your heart beats quickly and you breathe
deeply. An aerobic exercise should be part of your entire exercise routine.
WEIGHT TRAINING
Along with aerobic exercising which helps get rid of and keep off the excess fat that our bodies can store, weight train-
ing is an essential part of the exercise routine process. Weight training helps tone, build and strengthen muscle. If you
are working above your target zone, you may want to do a lesser amount of reps. And as always consult your physician
before beginning any exercise program.
MUSCLE CHART
TREADMILL
The exercise routine that is performed on the treadmill will develop the lower body muscle group as well as condition
the circulatory system and provide a good aerobic workout . These muscle groups are highlighted on the muscle chart
below.
