Removing the Interactive Screen from a Rear Projection
SMART Board™ 2000i Interactive Whiteboard
NOTE: It takes two people to complete this procedure.
1. Turn off the computer by following the manufacturer’s recommended shutdown procedures.
2. If you have a 2000i-DV/DVX, press and hold the Projector Standby button for approximately three seconds until a
“Please Wait a Moment” message appears on the bottom of the screen. Release the button and the lamp powers
down. The projector reaches full standby mode in 90 seconds. Wait until you hear the projector cooling fan stop, and
then unplug the 2000i-DV/DVX from the power outlet.
OR
If you have a 2000i-DVS, press and hold the Lamp Off button on the Control Panel for approximately three seconds.
Release the button and the lamp powers down. The projector reaches full standby mode in 60 seconds. Wait until you
hear the projector cooling fan stop, and then unplug the 2000i-DVS from the power outlet.

3. If you need better access to the interactive whiteboard, retract the anti-tip feet and unlock the wheels by pressing the
caster tab locks on each wheel. Then roll the unit to a more convenient location. Press the caster tab locks in the
opposite direction to lock the wheels again, and then extend the anti-tip feet.
4. If you have installed the laptop/videoconferencing shelf, you must remove it. To do this, loosen the thumbscrew
underneath the shelf, lift the shelf up, and pull it away from its keyholes.

5. Loosen and remove the four hex socket screws at the rear corners of the 2000i using a 5/32" hex key. You may find it
easier to reach the top hex socket screws if you lower the 2000i, but be careful not to crush the computer as you do
this.
NOTE: The screen won’t fall when you complete this step. Even after you loosen the corner fasteners, it will remain
suspended on two standoff posts near the top of the cabinet.
For clarity, the figure below shows the interactive screen detached from the unit.
6. With the screen still suspended on its standoff posts, pull the right bottom corner of the screen (as you face the front of
the 2000i) a little away from the cabinet, and reach inside to disconnect the modular cable and the power cable from
the Communications Hub at the back of the screen.
NOTE: The location of the Communications Hub may be different for your model.
CAUTION
Never touch the back of the screen. If you do smudge this surface, lightly spray alcohol-free glass
cleaner on a soft cloth and dab the affected area to remove the marks. Never apply isopropyl alcohol,
water or acetone, as these fluids will damage the diffusion coating and permanently reduce the display
quality.
