1 General Description
This document describes the AS1122 Evaluation Kit.
The AS1122 is a 12-channel. Constant current-sink LED driver with 4096-step greyscale PWM
brightness control and 64-step constant-current sink (dot correction).
The Evaluation Kit allows to supply all components by the PC USB Port. No external supply or
battery is needed. Except the USB cable (included), no wiring is needed which allows a fast and
comfortable evaluation of the AS1122.
The graphical user interface (GUI) runs on PC running Windows 7 and allows the user to control the
AS1122.

2 Getting Started
Drive the AS1122 only with the recommended settings and values as described in the datasheet.
Please check www.ams.com for the latest version.
For a detailed description of the Kit please read sections 3-5 of this document.
Connect the LED board (see 3.3 RGB LED Board or 3.4 Standard LED Board) and make sure
“J5” and “Riref” are placed on the AS1122 Evaluation Board.
Connect AS1122 USB Interface Board and make sure “J2” is placed to supply the AS1122
Evaluation Board with 3.3V
Start the GUI and connect the USB cable via connector “A” to a powered USB port. Connector
“A” is also used for the data transfer.
Enable “Direct Mode” in the GUI, choose “DOT” in the Source Selection and set the dot
correction (DC current) for each channel. Enable all outputs by clicking the red LED above “All”.
Select “PWM” in the Source Selection and set the PWM data (timing) for each channel.
If there are questions do not hesitate to contact us.
