Hydra Pools SWEETWATER STEPS Installation guide

  • I have reviewed the Installation Manual for the HYDRA POOLS Step. This document outlines the steps for proper installation, emphasizing leveling, backfilling, and securing the steps to wall panels. I'm ready to answer your questions about the document and the installation process.
  • What materials should not be used for backfilling?
What happens if I do not backfill properly?
Can leveling columns be used as a substitute for backfilling?
INSTALLATION MANUAL
STEPS
The hardware package consists of the following components:
A. Six leveling columns (starter kit)
B. Stainless steel faceplate screws
C. ‘Slippery When Wet’ sticker
1. Place the step in the appropriate location in your pool installation.
2. Cut leveling support pipe to proper length as needed for your step. Additional leveling columns
must be cut and placed under step for each support socket. (2” Schedule 40 PVC)
3. Gently tap the leveling columns until they are fully seated in the sockets provided on the step
support.
4. Properly level the step horizontally and vertically. Check the step to make sure it is plumb with
the flanking wall panels.
5. To insure proper installation, clamp the step to the flanking wall panels. This will allow proper
wall and drilling alignment.
STEP INSTALLATION
6. Pour a concrete bond beam at the base of the step
at the same time the beam is poured around the wall
and brace system.
7. Backfill the step cavity with grandular material to
acheive maximum compacting. Do not use clay, dirt,
soil or other earthen materials for the backfill. This
material will not compact properly, leaving hollow
cavities which will weaken step support over time.
*Note: Warranty will be void if not backfilled properly.
Leveling columns ARE NOT a substitute for proper
backfilling. Using only leveling columns for support
will void the warranty.
