MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION
Under normal conditions the EQEK air heater does not require any
maintenance.
Possible loss of heat may be due to an interruption in the operating
circuit.
The supply air fan will interlock the air heater’s operation circuit.
The supply air fan continues to operate after the ventilation system
has been switched off in order to cool the heating elements in the air
heater. This post-cooling period can be set on the time relay. The air
heater with built-in control and stepping switch is equipped with two or
several mutually independent overheat protections, B and C.
C opens the operating circuit of the air heater if the temperature
exceeds 120 °C. The supply air fan continues to operate to cool the
heating elements after which it stops. C must be manually reset.
Overheat protection B opens the operating circuit of the air heater if
the control temperature exceeds 70 °C and resets itself automatically
when the temperature drops again.
The installation is wired so that overheat protection C opens the
operating circuit to the contactors for the air heater and to the
contactor for the supply air fan.
Caution!
The heating elements are still hot after you have
switched off the unit. You risk getting burned
if you touch them. Switch off the unit well in
advance before cleaning.
REMOTE INDICATION OF ALARMS
Alarm functions with remote indication from the manually resettable
overheat protection C can be entered in the automatic equipment of
the air heater.
OPERATION
1. The ventilation system is started either manually by means of a
switch or automatically with a timer. The fan starts and the air
heater is gradually switched in by means of the stepping switch.
2. If the temperature in the elements reaches the limit temperature
preset in overheat protection B (70 °C), the heat heater is switched
off. The heater is automatically switched in again when the temper-
ature has dropped. If due to a malfunction in the ventilation system,
the temperature rises so high that overheat protection C trips, the
fan stops and the air heater is switched off. C must be reset manu-
ally after the malfunction has been remedied.
3. In order to prevent cold air from being discharged into the ven-
tilation system in the event of a malfunction in the air heater or its
control equipment, a thermostat should be installed in the supply
air path to stop the air handling unit if the temperature (approx.
+10 °C) drops below the preset limit, after atime delay of approx. 10
minutes from the time when the ventilation system started up.
