Preparations before first use
Unpacking
Do not allow children to play with packaging materials.
Risk of suffocation!
Remove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions from
the box.
Remove all packaging materials and any protective film from the
appliance.
Check the package for completeness and signs of visible damage.
If the delivery is incomplete or damage has occurred as a result
of defective packaging or during transport, contact the customer
service hotline (see section about 3 year limited warranty).
Before first use
Before starting to use the appliance, ensure that ...
the appliance, power plug and power cord are in perfect
condition and ...
all packaging materials and protective films have been removed
from the appliance.
Clean all parts of the appliance as described in the section entitled
"Cleaning".
Insert the plug into a suitable power socket. The control indicator light
f
lashes green.
The appliance is now ready for use.
If you have moved the appliance, wait approximately 2 hours
before using it again.
Make sure that the ambient temperature is between 50 and 90 °F
(10
and
32 °C).
SEMK 105 A2 US-EN 9
Operation and use
Filling the appliance
Never fill the water tank with hot water ! The water temperature
should be between 46 and 77 °F (8 and 25 °C).
Before filling the appliance, make sure that the cap is firmly in the
drain opening on the underside of the appliance. Otherwise,
the filled water will flow straight out again.
Open the lid and take out the ice tray .
Use a container such as a measuring cup to fill the water tank .
Never exceed the MAX marking.
Replace the ice tray in the appliance and close the lid .
Starting ice production
Always use fresh drinking water to prepare ice cubes. Never reuse
the water from thawed ice cubes!
Press the button to start ice production. The control indicator
light lights up permanently green.
After approximately 7–15 minutes, depending on the water and
ambient temperature, you will hear ice cubes starting to fall into the
ice tray . To remove ice cubes, open the lid and remove the
required amount of ice cubes using the ice scoop . Then close the
lid again.
If the “Ice tray full” indicator light lights up red, the ice tray
is full. Ice cube production is stopped and the appliance stops
cooling. As soon as you have removed enough ice cubes, the
appliance will resume production.
SEMK 105 A2
10 US-EN
It is possible for the finished ice cubes to pile up from time to time
and thus hit the light barrier. This causes the ice cube production
to stop, although the ice cube tray is not full yet. In this case,
you can use the ice scoop , for example, to distribute the ice
cubes in the ice cube tray and clear the light barrier again. Ice
cube production will continue automatically.
If the “Add water” indicator light lights up red, the water
fill level is too low. Ice cube production is interrupted and the
appliance stops cooling. If you want to continue producing ice
cubes, fill the water tank as described in the section “Filling the
appliance”.
The first production phase may last a little longer than the following
ones.
The ice cubes do not reach full size until around the third production
phase, depending on the water and ambient temperature.
The production time is dependent on the water and ambient
temperature.
Stopping ice production
Drain the water from the water tank after a maximum of 24 hours.
Otherwise, bacteria may start to build up!
Press the button to stop ice production. The control indicator
light flashes green.
To turn the appliance off completely, remove the ice cubes and
pull the plug from the power socket.
Allow the appliance to defrost and check whether there is any
water
left in the rear part of the appliance. To do this, tip the
appliance slightly forward so that the water runs into the water
tank .
SEMK 105 A2 US-EN 11
To drain the water from the water tank , pull the appliance
forward so that it sticks out over the edge of the worktop and
you have access to the drain opening on the underside of the
appliance. Ensure, however, that the front feet still have a firm foot-
hold. Hold a container that is suitably large to hold the expected
amount of water under the drain opening and pull out the cap.
Once the water has drained out, push the cap firmly back into the
drain opening .
Cleaning
Before cleaning the appliance, disconnect the power plug from the
power socket! Otherwise, there is a risk of electric shock!
Never open any parts of the housing. There are no serviceable
parts whatsoever inside. When the housing is open, there is a risk
of a potentially fatal electrical shock.
Drain the water from the water tank after a maximum of 24
hours. Otherwise, bacteria may start to build up!
Do not use abrasive or caustic cleaning agents. They can attack
the surface and damage the appliance beyond repair.
Do not use boiling water to clean the appliance.
Do not clean the metal pins in the rear of the appliance with a cloth
or similar. Scratches could negatively affect the production results.
Remove the ice tray and wipe out the inside of the appliance with
a damp cloth. Make sure that you do not damage the metal pins in
the rear of the appliance. They should not be cleaned with a cloth.
For stubborn dirt or deposits, add a little mild vinegar to the cloth.
Rinse the water tank with fresh water and allow this water to run
out through the drain opening on the underside of the appliance.
Afterwards, wipe t off with a cloth moistened only with water.
SEMK 105 A2
12 US-EN
Clean the ice scoop and the ice tray in warm water and
some dish detergent.
Wipe off the housing and the power cord with a damp cloth.
For more stubborn dirt, add a mild detergent to the cloth. After-
wards, wipe the appliance clean with a cloth moistened only with
water to ensure that no detergent remains. Make sure that the
appliance and the power cord are completely dry on the
outside before the next use.
Before first use, run through three production phases as described
in the section “Operation and use” and dispose of the remaining
water as well as the ice cubes. This ensures self-cleaning of the
appliance.
Storage
Allow the appliance to dry completely before putting it away.
To do this, leave the lid open for a while to allow any residual
moisture to escape.
Tie the power cord up and secure it with the cable clip.
Store the appliance in a dry and clean location. Close the lid
when you store the appliance. Otherwise, dust can accumulate in
the appliance and contaminate the next batch of ice cubes.
Disposal
Disposal of the appliance
Electrical appliances may not be thrown away as part of normal
household trash. If you can no longer use your electrical appliance,
dispose of it in accordance with the legal provisions applicable in
your state. This will ensure that old electrical appliances are recycled
and environmental pollution is kept to a minimum. Further information
about disposal is available on the Internet at www.epa.gov.
SEMK 105 A2 US-EN 13
