1 Introduction
1.1 Product Overview
NVP-990 series network video decoders are especially for high definition video transmission
and playing over internet. It can be deployed in various streaming applications such as point
to point transmission, live streaming, video conference, digital signage and so on. NVP-990
series products include NVP-990 portable network video decoder NVP-990-R1 and
NVP-990-R2 frame structure network video decoder.
NVP-990 applies H.264 advanced video processing standard, supports FULL-HD 1080P60
video decoding and display. Portable design and Web UI control enable user configure
NVP-990 conveniently and efficiently.
Integrated with Caton leading R2TP technology, NVP-990 series network video decoder
and NVP-903 series network video encoder can also realize high quality live video
contribution and distribution over Open Internet.

2 Panel Design
2.1 Front Panel
2.1.1 NVP-990

NVP-990 Front Panel consists of an E Ink screen and 3 indicators: Power, Data and Stream.
Ø E Ink: Displays device basic info. The info in E Ink will not be vanished after powered
down.
n Type: Device type: NVP-990
n SSID: Device serial number / SSID of NVP-990 internal hot-spot(AP)
n Password: Password of NVP-990 internal hot-spot(AP)
n Stream IP: Device IP address for streaming and web control
Ø Indicators: Displays current running status
n Power: [Blue] Device is powered up now
n Data: [Green] Device recognizes the input source successfully. [Red] Device does
not recognize the input source now
n Stream: [Green] Device is connected to target server/encoder and receiving
stream from it; [Red] Device is not receiving stream from target server/encoder.

3 Web Control
3.1 Log In
NVP-990 supports PC web control via Ethernet port, it also supports PC/Smartphone/Pad
wireless web control via NVP-990 internal hotspot.
3.1.1 Log in via Ethernet
1) Prepare a computer with Ethernet port and Internet web browser.
2) Connect your PC to the NVP-990 ETH port via Ethernet.
3) Configure computer IP address, make sure that NVP-990 and the computer IP are
in the same network segment

4) Input the device IP address in the web browser, it will displays the Log in page, as
follows:
(Default IP Address: 202.0.0.138)

5) Type in the Account and Password to login.
(Default Account: admin; Default Password: admin)
6) Language can switch from Chinese to English
3.1.2 Log in via Wi-Fi
1) Prepare a PC/Pad/Smartphone with Wi-Fi function and Internet web browser.
2) Search Wi-Fi SSID of NVP-990 internal hotspot(AP) and connect your
PC/Pad/Smartphone to it. (Default AP Password: 87654321)
3) Input the device IP address in the web browser, it will displays the Log in page, as
in Figure 4.1
4) Type in the Account and Password to login.
(Default Account: admin; Default Password: admin)
Tips:
SSID of NVP-990 series internal hotspot (AP) will be displayed in the E-Ink of Device
front panel.

3.2 Configuration
Click Configuration in main menu to enter the basic setting page, as follows:

In Configuration page, users can configure basic settings of transport protocol and view
the decoding status.
Click Apply to save the configuration.
3.2.1 Protocol
NVP-990 support 1 channel STPS over IP decoding with HDMI output.

R2TP port of NVP-990 and target encoder device to be the same.

Tips:
R2TP is the proprietary transport protocol of Caton Technology. For R2TP transmission,
please make sure the encoder device support R2TP protocol.

3.2.2 Decoder
In Decoder column, user can set decode buffer size, and view decode status.

Ø Buffer Size(MB): Set buffer size for video decoding. Range: 1~10MB
Click Apply to save the configuration
Click Decode to restart the decoding
Ø Output Format: The format of decoded video
Ø Video Type: Video compress format of input video source
Ø Audio Type: Audio compress format of input audio source
Ø Stream Status: Real-time bit rate of input IP stream.
Click on the Stream Status , the stream flow graph will pop
up on the page.

3.3 Advance
3.3.1 Tools
In Tools column, user can upgrade or reboot the device, reset device to default setting.

1) Upgrade System
Click Choose the update package to select the upgrade package in PC, and
Click Upgrade to upgrade. The upgrade process will need about 2 minutes,
and device will reboot automatically.
2) Reboot System
Click Reboot to reboot the device. The reboot process will need about 1 minute.
3) Factory Reset
Click Factory Reset to recover to the default settings. The reset process will need
about 2 minutes, and device will reboot automatically.
4) Ping
Use the ping tools to confirm the connection status between NVP-990 and target device.
Type in the target IP address and click Ping to get the result.

3.3.2 ETH Setting
In ETH Setting column, user can configure device IP address.

Ø DHCP: Select IP setting mode. OFF: Manual mode; ON: DHCP mode
Ø Ethernet MAC: Device MAC address
Ø IP Address: Device IP address for video streaming and web control
Ø Sub Mask: Net mask of device IP setting
Ø Gateway: Gateway of device IP setting
Ø DNS: DNS server of device IP setting
Click Apply to save the configuration.
3.3.3 AP Information
In AP Information column, user can change the password of device AP.

Tips:
Please do not power off the device during the upgrade or factory reset process. The
web page will refresh automatically which means the process is already finished.

Ø SSID: To view SSID of device AP. SSID of AP is the same as device serial number.
Ø New Password: To set new password of device AP. Default password: 87654321
Ø Confirm Password: To refill the new password to confirm.
Click Apply to save the configuration.
3.3.4 Login Information
In Login Information column, user can change the password for web log in.
