Sicherheitshinweise
Prüfen Sie vor jedem Start den festen Sitz des Motors und der Luftschrauben - insbesondere nach dem Transport, härteren
Landungen sowie Abstürzen. Prüfen Sie ebenfalls vor jedem Start den festen Sitz und die richtige Position der Tragflächen auf dem
Rumpf.
Akku erst einstecken, wenn Ihr Sender eingeschaltet ist und Sie sicher sind, daß das Bedienelement für die Motorsteuerung auf
"AUS" steht.
Im startbereiten Zustand nicht in den Bereich der Luftschraube greifen.
Vorsicht in der Luftschraubendrehebene - auch Zuschauer zur Seite bitten!
Zwischen den Flügen die Motortemperatur durch vorsichtige Fingerprobe prüfen und
vor einem Neustart den Motor ausreichend abkühlen lassen. Die Temperatur ist richtig, wenn Sie den Motor problemlos berühren
können. Insbesondere bei hohen Außentemperaturen kann dieses bis zu 15 Minuten dauern.
Denken Sie immer daran: Niemals auf Personen und Tiere zufliegen.

Avant chaque décollage, vérifiez la fixation du moteur et de l'hélice, notamment après le transport, après les atterrissages violents
et après un “Crash”. Vérifiez également, avant chaque décollage la fixation ainsi que le positionnement de l’aile par rapport au
fuselage.
Ne branchez l’accu de propulsion que si vous êtes sûr que votre émetteur est allumé et que l’élément de commande moteur est en
position “ARRET”.
Ne mettez pas vos doigts dans l’hélice! Attention à la mise en marche, demandez également aux spectateurs de reculer.
Entre deux vols, vérifiez en posant un doigt dessus, la température du moteur, laissezle refroidir suffisamment avant le prochain
décollage. La température est correcte si vous pouvez maintenir votre doigt ou votre main sur le moteur. Le temps de refroidissement
peut varier jusqu’à 15 minutes s’il fait particulièrement chaud.
Pensez-y toujours: ne volez jamais vers ou au-dessus des personnes ou des animaux.
Safety notes
Before every flight check that the motor and propeller are in place and secure - especially after transporting the model, and after
hard landings and crashes. Check also that the wing is correctly located and firmly secured on the fuselage before each flight.
Don’t plug in the battery until you have switched on the transmitter, and you are sure that the motor control on the transmitter is set
to “OFF”.
When the model is switched on, ready to fly, take care not to touch the propeller. Keep well clear of the propeller disc too, and ask
spectators to stay back.
Allow the motor to cool down after each flight. You can check this by carefully touching the motor case with your finger. The
temperature is correct when you can hold your finger on the case without any problem. On hot days this may take up to 15 minutes.
Please keep in mind at all times: don’t fly towards people or animals.

Tra un volo e l’altro controllare cautamente con le dita la temperatura del motore e farli raffreddare sufficientemente prima di ogni
nuovo decollo. La temperatura è giusta se si possono toccare senza problemi. Specialmente con una temperatura esterna alta
questo può durare fino a 15 minuti.
Fare attenzione: Non volare mai nella direzione di persone ed animali.

Entre los vuelos hay que comprobar cuidadosamente la temperatura del motor con el dedo y dejar que el motor se enfríe antes de
volver a despegar. La temperatura es correcta, si puede tocar el motor sin problemas. Sobretodo en el caso de temperaturas del
ambiente muy altas, esto puede tardar unos 15 minutos.

MULTIPLEX model kits are subject to constant quality checks throughout the production process, and we sincerely
hope that you are happy with the contents of your kit. However, we would ask you to check all the parts before you
start construction, as we cannot exchange components which you have already worked on. If you find any
part is not acceptable for any reason, we will readily correct or exchange it. Just send the component to our Model
Department. Please be sure to include a brief description of the fault.
We are constantly working on improving our models, and for this reason we must reserve the right to change the
kit contents in terms of shape or dimensions of parts, technology, materials and fittings, without prior notification.
Please understand that we cannot entertain claims against us if the kit contents do not agree in every respect with
the instructions and the illustrations.
Caution!
Radio-controlled models, and especially model aircraft, are by no means playthings. Building and
operating them safely requires a certain level of technical competence and manual skill, together with
discipline and a responsible attitude at the flying field. Errors and carelessness in building and flying the
model can result in serious personal injury and damage to property. Since we, as manufacturers, have
no control over the construction, maintenance and operation of our products, we are obliged to take this

Alternatively you can use any comparable cyano-acrylate adhesive (“medium cyano”). Don‘t use special styrofoam
cyano. Epoxy glues appear to produce strong joints, but the strength is only superficial and the hard adhesive
tends to break away from the components under stress.

Important note
This model is not made of styrofoam™! It is
not
possible to glue the material using white glue or
epoxy. Please be sure to use cyano-acrylate glue
exclusively, preferably in conjunction with cyano
activator (kicker). For all joints use medium-
viscosity cyano-acrylate (“cyano”), e.g. “ZACKi
medium viscosity”. When gluing Elapor ® always
use this procedure: spray one surface with
activator, allow it to air-dry, then apply cyano
(ZACKi) to the other side. Join the parts and
position them accurately immediately.
Please take care when working with cyano
adhesives. These materials harden in
seconds, so do not allow them to get onto
your fingers or other parts of your body. It
is important to wear goggles to protect your
eyes. Keep the adhesive out of the reach of
children.
1. Before starting construction
Please check that the contents of your kit are complete.
You will find Fig. 1 and the Parts List helpful for this.
Assembling the model:
2. Piercing the cable tunnels
Continue the tunnels for the cables 7 through the
fuselage 1 and into the engine nacelles using a bradawl
or a round file. This is best done by inverting the model
and twisting the bradawl through, working from the
existing cable duct. Remove all loose foam particles.

3. Assembling the fuselage
Glue the top and bottom parts of the fuselage nose 2 +
3 together. Fig. 3
Offer up the joined nose section 2 + 3 to the fuselage 1,
then glue the parts together. Ensure that the edges line
up accurately. Fig. 4
4. Internal fuselage fittings
Install the latch clips 22 in the fuselage. This is done by
spraying activator in the recesses and allowing it to air-
dry. Apply cyano to the joint surfaces of the latch clips
and immediately place them in position. Add more cyano
if necessary to obtain strong joints. Glue the threaded
bush 34 in place with cyano. Fig. 5
5. Installing the aileron servos and motors
Trial-fit the servos in the moulded-in recesses. You may
need to make slight adjustments to suit the servos you
are using. Fit the cables through the ducts. Shrink a
piece of heat-shrink sleeving round each servo (or wrap
in adhesive tape), then glue the servos in their recesses.
Note: don’t be tempted to glue the servos in place
without wrapping them in sleeving or tape, as glue can
easily get inside the servo case and ruin it. Fig. 6
Installing the motors: the motors are fitted with basic
suppressors, but these need to be supplemented for
increased security. This is done by soldering a capacitor
70 between each motor terminal and the can, and a
third capacitor between the terminals. Fit the motor
power leads through the terminals and solder them and
the capacitors in place at the same time. Check at this
early stage that both motors are set up for “left-hand”
running (clockwise when you look at the motor shaft).

Take care not to allow glue to run inside the motors or
into the cooling slots. Check that the engine nacelles
are a snug fit. Fig. 6
6. The wing joiners
Carefully glue parts 11 and 12 in place using the method
described above. Take particular care that no glue gets
onto the surfaces which will make contact with the wing
joiners. Be careful here, otherwise you could find that
the model can never be dismantled again. When you
are certain that there is no active adhesive inside the
joiner sockets, check that the wing joiners 32 are a snug
fit in them. Fig. 7. Close the wing joiner sockets in the
outboard wing panels in a similar manner by fitting parts
13 + 14, but this time glue the wing joiners 32 to the
outboard wing panels 4 + 5. Fig. 8
7. Preparing the pushrod connectors (6 x)
Caution: note the orientation: 2 x left, 2 x right.
Attach the articulated pushrod connectors 25 to the
outermost hole in the horns 24 using the M1.6 x 4
countersunk screws 24. Tighten the screw just to the
point where the pushrod connector still swivels freely,
but does not wobble. With a little care you will find the
best combination of freedom of movement and lack of
slop. You may need to re-tighten the screw after the
first few flights. Fit the socket-head grubscrew 28 in the
articulated swivel block 26, then snap the swivel block
26 into the connector housing.
Note: when you need to undo the pushrod connector
again, e.g. for removing the outboard wing, this is very
easily done with the help of a screwdriver (blade width
approx. 4 mm). Slip the screwdriver blade between
connector housing and swivel block and twist it slightly
- the pushrod comes away, and can be re-fitted again
without disturbing the trim.
8. Checking the wing joiner system
Assemble the model using the wing joiners 32. Check
that the wings 4 + 5 line up correctly. Trim the parts
carefully if required. Fig. 10
9. Installing the horns, connecting the pushrods
Apply Activator to the horn recesses and slots and allow
it to air-dry. Apply Zacki to the horns and push them
into position. Take care that the pushrod connectors are
on the correct side of the horns! Set all servos to neutral
from the transmitter, connect the pushrods and tighten
the grubscrews on the opposite side to secure them.

10. Arranging the cables, installing the RC
components
Lay the cables in the cable ducts, and apply adhesive
tape over the top to seal the ducts. Stick the Velcro
(hook) tape where the RC components will be located.
Note that the adhesive power of the Velcro tape is not
sufficient, so it should be glued in place with cyano.

11. Completing the canard
The next step is to glue the sleeve 33 in the canard 6.
Push the sleeve in until the flange lies flush with the top
surface. Apply glue to the outside of the sleeve from the
underside. Check that the fins 7 + 8 fit “dry” (no glue),
then glue them in place permanently. Figs. 14 + 15
12. Completing the engine nacelles, fitting the
propellers
Place the engine nacelles 9 + 10 and fins 7 + 8 on the
model and fix them in place with the O-rings 36 - they
cannot be fitted later as they will not fit over the
propellers. Separate the propellers from the spinners
(black), turn the propellers round (the raised inscription
should now face back), and fit the spinners again. Push
a modelling pin through the spinner from the rear
towards the front to make a hole. The hole allows trapped
air to escape when the spinners are glued in place. Fix
the propellers to the motor shafts using 5-minute epoxy
or UHU Endfest 300 (slow-setting epoxy). Fig. 16
Don’t use cyano!!! This makes the material brittle,
and the spinner will fall off.
13. Attaching the latch lugs to the fuselage top
decking
The latch lugs 23 are fitted in pairs, starting with the
two front ones. Apply “ZACKi medium” to the patterned
surface > no Activator! <, then push the latch lugs half-
way into their slots. Place the fuselage top decking 15
on the model, allow the latches to engage, then
immediately move the decking to exactly the right
position. Wait for about one minute, then carefully raise
the decking again and lift it off. Spray Activator on the
latch lugs. Install the centre and rear pairs of latch lugs
in the same manner. Fig. 17 + 18
14. Final assembly
The recommended position of the radio control units
and power system components is as follows:
Receiver furthest forward, followed by the flight battery
and speed controller.
The final position of the flight battery is determined when
you check the model’s balance. Ensure that the Velcro
tape which retains the battery is securely fixed and
properly engaged. If you neglect this point you may lose
the battery while the model is in flight.
Check that the battery is secure
before every flight!
Pierce a hole through the fuselage side and into the
wing duct; lay the receiver aerial in the duct and secure
it with adhesive tape.
The next step is to connect all the working systems in
the model temporarily.
Don’t connect the motors until you have
switched on the transmitter and checked
carefully that the throttle stick is at the “OFF”
position.
Connect the servo plugs to the receiver. Switch on the
transmitter, then connect the flight battery (in the model)
to the speed controller, and the controller to the receiver.
This model requires a speed controller with an integral
BEC circuit (receiver power supply from the flight
battery).
Now switch on the motors briefly and check that the
propellers rotate in the correct direction. Remove all
light, loose objects in the area behind the model before
you do this, and hold the model firmly.
Caution: even small motors and propellers can
cause injury!
15. Control surface travels
It is important to set the control surface travels correctly,
as these settings have a crucial influence on the model’s
overall control response. Caution: the elevators (the
canard panels) should move down through approx. 22
mm when you apply up-elevator (stick back), and around
24 mm up when you apply down-elevator (stick forward).
The aileron travels should be 12 mm up and 9 mm down,
in all cases measured at the point of maximum aileron
chord.
If your transmitter does not feature servo travel
adjustment you may need to make mechanical
adjustments to the linkage.
16. Balancing
If your Sonic Liner is to fly safely and stably it must
balance at the correct point - just like every other aircraft.
Assemble your model completely, ready to fly, and install
the flight battery. You will find markings moulded into
the underside of the wing, close to the hand-grip areas.
Support the model on your fingertips at these points,
and it should balance level. If necessary, adjust the
position of the flight battery until this is the case. Once
the correct position is found, mark it inside the battery
box to ensure that the battery is always replaced in
exactly the same location. Fig. 20
17. The finishing touch
The kit includes a multi-colour decal sheet 17. Cut out
the individual name placards and emblems and apply

them to the model, either following our scheme (kit box
illustration) or using your own arrangement. Colour the
cabin down to the edge using a black waterproof felt-tip
pen.
18. Preparing for the first flight
Wait for a day with as little breeze as possible for the
first flight. The evening hours often provide the best
conditions.
Be sure to carry out a range check before the first
flight!
The transmitter battery and flight pack must be fully
charged according to the instructions. Ensure that the
channel you are using is not already in use
before you
switch on the transmitter.
Collapse the transmitter aerial, and ask a friend to walk
away from you holding the transmitter.
As he walks away your friend should constantly operate
one control function while you watch the model’s servos.
The servo not being operated should stay motionless
up to a range of around 60 m, and the other servo should
follow the transmitter stick movements smoothly and
immediately. This test only provides meaningful results
if the radio band is “clean” (not suffering interference),
and if no other radio control transmitters are switched
on,
even if they are on different channels. If successful,
repeat the check
with the motors running. The
effective range should not be significantly reduced when
the motors are running.
If you are not sure about anything, do not fly the model!
If you cannot eliminate the problem send the whole radio
control system (including battery, switch harness,
servos) to the manufacturer’s service department for
checking.
The first flight ....
Do not test-glide this model!
The model is designed for hand-launching - always
exactly into wind.
We recommend that you ask an experienced
modeller to help you during the first flight.
Allow the model to climb to a safe altitude, then adjust
the trims on the transmitter so that the model flies straight
ahead without any help from you.
At a safe height switch off the motors and make yourself
familiar with the model’s control response on the glide.
Carry out a dummy landing approach at a good height,
so that you will feel confident about the real landing
when the flight pack is flat.
Don’t attempt tightly banked turns close to the ground
at first, and especially not on the landing approach.
It is always better to land safely some distance away,
and have to walk to collect the model, than to risk
damaging it by dragging it close to your feet.
19. Safety
Safety is the First Commandment when flying any
model aircraft. Third party insurance should be
considered a basic essential. If you join a model club
suitable cover will usually be available through the
organisation. It is your personal responsibility to
ensure that your insurance is adequate (i.e. that its
cover includes powered model aircraft).
Make it your job to keep your models and your radio
control system in perfect order at all times. Check the
correct charging procedure for the rechargeable
batteries used in your RC set. Make use of all
sensible safety systems and precautions which are
advised for your system. An excellent source of
practical accessories is the MULTIPLEX main
catalogue, as our products are designed and
manufactured exclusively by practising modellers for
other practising modellers.
Always fly with a responsible attitude. You may think
that flying low over other people’s heads is proof of
your piloting skill; others know better. The real expert
does not need to prove himself in such childish ways.
It is in all our interests that you let other pilots know
that this is also what you think. Always fly in such a
way that you do not endanger yourself or others. Bear
in mind that even the best RC system in the world is
subject to outside interference. No matter how many
years of accident-free flying you have under your belt,
you have no idea what will happen in the next minute.
