Assembling YourPressure Pusher

Your Craftsmanpressure washer will needassembly before

operation:

1. Fill out and sendin registration card.

2. Attach handle.

3. Add oil to engine crankcase.

4. Add fuel to fuel tank.

5. Verify pump oil dipstick (A) has beeninstalled into pump.

6. Connectpressure hose to spray gun and pump.

7. Connectwater supply to pump.

8. Attach nozzleextensionto spray gun.

9. Select/attach quick connect spray tip to nozzle

extension.

AttachHandle

1. Placehandle (B) onto handlesupports (C) connectedto

main unit. Makesure holes (D) in handle align with

holes (B) on handlesupports.

NOTE:It may be necessaryto move the handle supports

from side to side in order to align the handle so it will slide

over the handle supports.

2. insert carriagebolts (E)through holesfrom outside of

unit and attach a plastic knob (F) from insideof unit.

Tighten by hand.

3. insert multi-colored spray tips andturbo nozzlein

spacesprovided in handle.

Add Engine Oil 1.

1. Placepressurewasher on a flat, levelsurface.

2. Cleanareaaround oil fill and remove oil fill cap/dipstick.

NOTE:See Oil Recommendations in Maintenancesection.

Verify provided oil bottle is the correct viscosity for current

ambient temperature. 3.

3. Using oil funnel (optional), slowly pour contents of both

provided oil bottles into oil fill opening to the point of

overflowing.

Use clean,fresh, regular UNLEADEDfuel with a

minimum of 86 octanewith equipment. DONOTmix oil

with fuel.

Placepressure washer on a levelsurface. Cleanarea

around fuel fill cap, remove cap.

Slowly add regular unleadedfuel to fuel tank. Becareful

not to overfill. Allow about 1" of tank space for fuel

expansion,as shown here.

4. install fuel capand wait for any spilled fuel to evaporate.

CAUTION!Alcohol-blendedfuels (calledgasohol, ethanol or

methanol) can attract moisture, which leadsto separation and

formation of acids during storage.Acidic gascan damagethe

fuel system of an enginewhile in storage.

To avoidengine problems, the fuel system should betreated

with a fuel preserver or emptied before storage of 30 days or

longer. If adding a fuel preserver,fill thefuel tank with fresh

fuel. If only partially filled, air in the tank will promote fuel

deterioration during storage. If fuel preserver is not used,

drain the fuel tank, start the engine and let it run until the fuel

lines and carburetor are empty. Usefresh fuel next season.

NEVERuseengine or carburetor cleanerproducts in the fuel

tank as permanent damagemay occur.

Connect Hose and Water Supply to Pump

NOTE:Removeanddiscard theshippingcapsfrom the pump's

high pressureoutlet andwater inlet beforeattachinghoses.

and turned on.

Uncoil high pressure hose and attachquick connect end

of hoseto baseof spray gun. Pull down on collar of

quick connect, slide onto spray gun and let go of collar.

Tug on hoseto be sure of tight connection.

inlet screen (B). Cleanscreen if it contains debris or have

it replacedif damaged.DONOTrun pressurewasher if

inlet screenisdamaged or missing.

4. Runwater through garden hosefor 30 secondsto clean

out any debris. Turn off water.

iMPORTANT:DONOTsiphon standing water for the water

supply. Use ONLYcold water (less than 100°F).

5. Connectgarden hose(not to exceed50 feet in length) to

water inlet.Tighten by hand.

6. Turn ONthe water, press red button (C) on the gun and

squeezethe trigger to purge the pump system of air and

impurities.

ToStart YourPressureWasher

To start your engine-poweredpressure washer for the first

time, follow these instructions step-by-step. This starting

information alsoapplies wheneveryou start the engine after

you haveletthe pressure washer sit idle for at least a day.

1. Placepressurewashernearanoutsidewatersource

capableof supplyingwater ata flow rategreaterthan

5.0 gallonsper minuteand no lessthan20 PSiat pressure

washerend of gardenhose.

2. Checkthat high pressure hose is tightly connectedto

spray gun and pump. SeeAssembly for illustrations.

3. Make sure unit is in a levelposition.

4. Connectgarden hose to water inlet on pressure washer

pump.

DONOT run the pump without the water supply connected

land turned on.

5. Turn ONthewater, press red button on the gun and

squeezethe trigger to purge the pump system of air and

impurities.

6. Attach nozzleextensionto spray gun. Tighten by hand.

7. Choosespray tip you want to use, pull back on collar of

nozzle extension, insert spray tip and releasecollar. Tug

on spray tip to makesure it is securelyin place. See

How to UseSpray Tips.

8. Movefuel valvelever(B)to "On" position.

To service the air cleaner, follow these steps:

1. Removewing nut (A) from air cleanercover (B), and

remove cover.

7. Using a moist rag,wipe dirt from insideof air cleaner

baseand cover. Becareful to prevent dirt from entering

8. Placefoam air filter element over paper elementand

reinstall assembledair filter. Besure gasket is in place

is cracked or chipped.

4. Checkelectrodegap with wire feeler gaugeand set gap

arrester. Checklocal laws and regulations. A spark arrester is

availablefrom your nearestSearsservice center. If you need

to order a spark arrester, pleasecall 1-888-4-1VlY-HOIVlE

{469-4663).

The spark arrester must be servicedevery 100 hours to keep

it functioning asdesigned.

If the engine has been running, the muffler will be very hot.

Allow the muffler to cool before servicing the spark attester.

Contact with muffler areacan result in serious

._ Exhaustheat/gases can ignite combustibles,

structures or damagefuel tank causing a fire.

• DO NOTtouch hot parts and AVOID hot exhaust gases.

• Allow equipment to cool beforetouching.

• Keepat least 5feet (152 cm) of clearanceon all sides of

pressure washer including overhead.

• Codeof FederalRegulation (CFR)Title 36 Parks, Forests,and

Public Property require equipment powered by an internal

combustion engine to haveaspark arrester, maintained in

effective working order, complying to USDAForest service

standard 5100-1C or later revision, in the Stateof California a

spark arrester is required under section 4442 of the California

Public resources code. Other statesmay havesimilar laws.

1. Removethefour 5 mm screws (A) from muffler

protector (B) and remove muffler protector.

2. Remove4 mm screw (C) from spark arrester (B) and

remove spark attester from muffler.

3. Use a brush to remove carbon deposits from spark

arrestor screen. Becareful to avoid damagingscreen.

IMPORTANT:The spark arrestor screen must befree of

breaks and holes. Replacespark arrestor if it is damaged.

4. Install spark arrestor, muffler protector, exhaust

deflector and muffler in reverseorder of disassembly.

Sediment Cup Cleaning

1. Move fuel valve to "Off" position, then remove fuel

sediment cup (J) and o-ring (K).

2. Wash sediment cup and o-ring in nonflammable solvent.

Dry thoroughly.

3. Placeo-ring in fuel valve and install sediment cup.

Tighten sediment cup securely.

4. Move fuel valve to "On" position and checkfor leaks.

Replaceo-ring if there is any leakage.

AFTEREACHUSE

Water should not remainin the unit for long periods of time.

Sedimentsor minerals can deposit on pump parts and

"freeze" pump action. Follow these procedures after every

use:

1. Shut off engine, turn off water supply, point gun in a

safe direction, press red button and squeezetrigger to

relievetrapped pressure and letengine cool.

The high pressure stream of water that this

equipment produces can cut through skin and its

_ nderlyingtissues, leadingto serious injury and

}ossible amputation.

Spray gun traps high water pressure,evenwhen

engine is stopped and water is disconnected,

which can cause injury.

• Keephighpressurehoseconnectedto pumpandspraygun

whilesystemis pressurized.

• ALWAYSpointspraygunin safedirection,pressredbutton

andsqueezesprayguntriggerto releasehighpressure,every

timeyoustopengine.

2. Disconnecthose from spray gun and high pressure

outlet on pump. Drainwater from hose,gun, and spray

tip extension. Usea ragto wipe off the hose.

3. Empty pump of all pumped liquids by pulling recoil

handleabout 6 times. This should remove most liquid in

pump.

4. Coilhigh pressure hoseon hook provided on handle.

5. Store unit in a clean, dry area.

6. If storing for more than 30 days see Long Term Storage

on next page.
