Safety advice
Meaning of symbols
General notes
z The machine is designed exclusively for cut-
ting hedges. Use for purposes other than
those intended qualify as improper use. The
manufacturer/supplier is not responsible for
any damages that result from improper use.
The operator is solely responsible for assum-
ing all risks.
z Do not overload the machine as it works better
and more safely when operated within the
specified range of performance.
Before trimming
z Clear the work surface of any foreign
items/bodies.
z Check the hedge for any hidden objects such
as wire fencing, etc.
z Check the connector cable and the line at-
tached to the outside of the machine for dam-
age and wear (brittleness). Use these only if
they are in perfect condition.
z Check to see that the safety guards are at-
tached. Machines without or having damaged
safety guards must not be used!
z Perform a visual inspection to see whether the
cutting tool is dull or damaged.
z Replace dull or damaged cutting tools.
z Keep the handgrips clean, dry, and free of oil
and grease.
z Never attempt to use a machine that is not fully
assembled or one that has been altered in a
manner that is not permitted.
While trimming
1 Do not use the shears in the rain or to
trim wet hedges.
The penetration of water into the casing in-
creases the risk of electrical shock.
z Do not use the device in areas where there is
danger of fire or explosion.
z Pay attention to what you are doing. Approach
the work sensibly. Do not use the device if you
are tired or under the influence of drugs, alco-
hol or are taking any medications.
1 Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery.
Clothing or jewellery could be snagged by
moving parts.
z Wear only closed-toe shoes and long
pants when working.
z Never work barefoot or in sandals.
z Hold the device steady with both hands and
operate it only from a stable position.
z Watch out for foreign objects while working!
z Keep your working area tidy. An untidy work
area can lead to accidents.
z Ensure that you have sufficient space while
working.
z Keep all body parts away from the blade.
z No persons -- especially children -- animals, or
objects should be found in the work area .
z Work at a height whereby the blade does not
come into contact with the ground.
z Do not attempt to remove cut material or hold
on to material that is to be cut while the blade
is running.
Use eye and ear protection!
Wear protective gloves!
Unplug the connection cable im-
mediately if it has been damaged
or cut!
Do not expose to rain!

1 Attention! Reverse blade
If the blade become jammed by thick
branches, for example, the hedge shears
must be shut off:
z Pull out the power plug.
z Do not touch running blades.
z Remove the cause of the blockage.
z Unplug the power plug from the socket.
z Never use the connector cable to pull the plug
out of the socket.
z Once the blades are idle, carry the shears by
the hand grips (keeping your hands away form
the blades).
z Never carry the device by the connector cable.
z After use, make sure the device is stored in a
way that the blades cannot be touched (blade
protection).
Cable
1 Attention! Electric shock through cable
damage
If the cable is cut through or damaged, the
safety fuse does not always trip.
z Do not touch the cable before the power
plug is pulled out of the socket.
z A damaged cable must be completely re-
placed. Patching the cable with insulat-
ing tape is not permitted.
z Avoid bodily contact with grounded parts
such as metal fences.
z Repairs to the cable should be performed only
by an expert.
z Fasten the connecting cable to the stress relief
mechanism. Do not scrape against corners,
spikes or sharp objects.
z Do not squeeze the cable between door jams
or through windows.
z Keep cable away from the cutting area.
z Switchgears must not be removed or bridged.
z Use only extension cable not lighter than rub-
ber hose, type HO 7 RNF, minimum cross
section 3 x 1.5 mm
2
, length: max. 25 m.
z Cables have to be protected against splashing
water.
Maintenance
1 Attention! Reverse blade
Before all maintenance and cleaning work:
z Pull out the power plug.
z Do not touch running blades.
z Do not spray off the device with water. Do not
use high pressure cleaning or pressurised
steam to clean the device.
z Do not store the hedge shears in humid rooms.
z For safety reasons, replace worn or damaged
parts.
z Repairs must only be performed at a location
staffed by experts.
z If the connecting cable is damaged, it must be
replaced at an authorized specialist service
location in order to eliminate hazards.
z Use only WOLF original replacement parts.
Otherwise there is no guarantee that the de-
vice will comply with the safety specifications.
Disposal
Assembly
Attach protective shield
z Attach the protective shield as shown.
Power tools do not belong in
household garbage. Bring the the
device, accessories and packaging
to an environmentally-friendly recy-
cling location.

Operation
Times of operation
z Please consult regional/local regulations.
z Inquire about the operating times at your local
regulatory agency.
Feed cable through the strain relief
z Lead the cable into strain relief as indicated
(prevents accidental loosening of the plug con-
nector).
Adjust blade head
In order to ensure the same, ergonomically ideal
handling in all cutting situations the blade head has
a 5-position latching mechanism .
1 Attention! Reverse blade
Perform adjustments to the device only
when the motor is off and the blade is idle.
1. Press the locking button down.
2. Rotate the blade head into the desired posi-
tion.
3. Now release the locking button.
4. Check whether the blade head is in place (the
hedge shears can only be switched on if the
blade head is snapped in).
Connect to the socket (230 Volt, 50 Hz)
z Connect the device only to sockets that are
protected with a 10-16 Amp. fuse (or LS switch
type B)
3 Note: Residual current protection device
These safeguards provide protection against
severe injuries resulting from touching dam-
aged cables, insulation defects and in some
cases cables that conduct electricity.
z We recommend that the equipment only be
plugged into a power socket, which is protect-
ed by a residual current protection device
(RCD) with a residual current of no more than
30 mA.
z Retrofit kits are available for old installations.
Consult an electrician
Switching the hedge shears on/off
z Make sure that your hands are steady when
working above head height.
z Hold the blade away from your body.
z Never place the cable above the hedge where
it can easily be caught by the blades.
Motor on
1. Hold down the safety switch on the bowed
handle (1).
2. Press the on/off button on the hand grip (2) at
the same time.
Motor off
z Release one of the two buttons.
Tips for cutting
z Please observe the brooding season of the
birds!
z The ideal hedge cutting form is the trapezoid
, which provides for adequate light and
ventilation for all parts of the hedge.
z In order to promote thick growth of young
hedges, only half of new shoots should be cut.
z If the hedge has already reached the desired
height, new shoots can be completely re-
moved.
z In order to achieve a steady hedge height you
can string up a guide wire at the desired height
and cut along this wire.
z Cutting seasons:
Deciduous hedges: May/June and October
(cutback to approx. 1/3 of the total height in
winter)
Conifer hedges: April and October
Conifers: April and October

Maintenance
General
1 Attention! Reverse blade
Before all maintenance and cleaning work:
z Pull out the power plug.

Cleaning
z Clean the hedge shears with a dry towel, par-
ticularly the ventilation slits, after each use or
using a brush in the case of heavy soiling.
z Spray the blades with oil after each use.
z Under no circumstances spray the hedge
shears off with water.
Storage
z Store the hedge shears in the blade scabbard
provided.
For easy storage the blade scabbard can be
mounted on the wall .
We recommend using the drill template (see
page 136) for simple wall-mounting of the
blade scabbard.
z Store the hedge shears in a dry location out of
the reach of children.
